  1. SOMERSET ALL OUT FOR 288published at 15:00 BST 18 April

    Ogborne c & b Jack 38 (Hants 238 v Somerset 288 - lead by 50)

Alfie Ogborne has done some damage but he finally has to go for 38 and Somerset are all out for 288.

Eddie Jack comes into the attack and with the first ball of the over Ogborne attempts to go on the attack but ends up slapping it straight back at the bowler who makes a terrific fast grab high up on the move and that is the end of an entertaining 10th-wicket partnership.

That was worth 38, and even my maths can work out the visitors' lead is exactly 50 - very useful runs there from Somerset's tail, and Hampshire, following good work earlier in the innings, will be slightly annoyed they have let the league-leaders get off the hook in the past half hour somewhat.

We will have a short interval before Hampshire return for their second-innings.

    Hants 238 v Somerset 288-9 (lead by 50)

Alfie Ogborne has done some real damage to Hampshire here.

The 10th wicket partnership is now worth 38, with Ogborne taking most of the strike and Jake Ball having to deal with the odd ball at the end of the over here and there.

    Somerset's lead stretches to 50.

    Zaib c Robson b Sharma 14 (Northants 98-4 v Middlesex 341)

Naavya Sharma has been bang on the money, with his first three overs leaking just two runs and drawing a few whoops of approval from the slip cordon.

    Then he strikes!

The young pacer sends one across Saif Zaib and an outside esge whizzes low to Sam Robson at second slip. He dives to his left to take a good low catch in front of first slip.

James Sales is next man in and Middlesex are on top.

  4. 'Intelligent shot from Ogborne'published at 14:53 BST 18 April

    Hants 238 v Somerset 272-9

    Simon Hughes
The Analyst on The Cricket Social

I think that was a really intelligent bit of cricket because he knew it was the last ball of the over and that Jack was going to bowl short to make sure Jake Ball strikes in the next over so he almost pre-medititated it.

    Warks 190 v Essex 34-2 - trail by 156 runs

Paul Walter has really had to dig in against some excellent Bears bowling this afternoon.

Jordan Thompson joins the attack, in for Ethan Bamber, and Walter drives a full ball down the ground for a hard-earned boundary. Lovely shot.

Three more follow from the next ball as the Essex opener goes to 21 off 47 balls.

    Hants 238 v Somerset 272-9 (lead by 34)

Another boundary for Somerset, more valuable runs.

An uppish drive by Jake Ball goes over slip and down to third man for four more.

    Lead increases to 34 runs.

    Hants 238 v Somerset 268-9 (lead by 30)

    WHAT A SHOT THIS IS!

Alfie Ogborne crouches down on one knee to help one down to fine leg with the final delivery of the over for six - a premeditated strike by the number 10.

Harry Brook would have been proud of that one.

Valuable runs these for Somerset - the tail has wagged and they now lead by 30.

    Warks 190 v Essex 27-2 - trail by 163 runs

Charlie Allison aims a drive at a full Ed Barnard ball which moves away late and almost takes the edge. A beauty.

Another play and miss as Barnard completes a second maiden.

    Warks 190 v Essex 27-2 - trail by 163 runs

Ethan Bamber goes back to over the wicket as he bowls to Charlie Allison.

He looks solid in defence, but Bamber gets one through onto the pads.

It's going down leg and not out, but another neat over.

Ed Barnard has replaced wicket-taker Keith Barker and opens up with a maiden.

    Bohannon b M Taylor 21 (Gloucs 136 v Lancs 120-2, trail by 16)

    An absolute Jaffa!

Matt Taylor, around the wicket, clips the top of off stump - Josh Bohannon had no answer to this one.

It's the reward which the tall left-arm seamer's perseverance deserves. The perfect delivery.

A rare highlight on what has so far been another difficult day for Gloucestershire.

Next man in for Lancashire - Marcus Harris.

Middlesex have substituted Zafar Gohar for Luke Hollman after hobbling off while fielding this morning.

    Northants 92-3 v Middlesex 341

All change in the Middlesex attack with Ryan Higgins replacing Tom Helm and Naavya Sharma in place of Toby R-J.

Nathan McSweeney plays beautifully to plunder three boundaries in the third over from Higgins to move to 31.

It also brings up the fifty partnership for the fourth wicket off 70 balls with Saif Zaib.

    Hants 238 v Somerset 260-9 (lead by 22)

Back-to-back boundaries for Somerset off Liam Dawson from Alfie Ogborne.

He comes down the wicket to hit over long off for a one-bounce four.

The next shot, Ogborne comes even further down to meet Dawson, and this this hits it for six.

He follows the next ball up with an expert defensive stroke.

Important runs these in the last-wicket partnership as Somerset's lead goes up to 22.

  14. 'Leach almost given himself up'published at 14:35 BST 18 April

    Hants 238 v Somerset 254-9

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Ogborne wasn't coming and he's apologising to Jack Leach.

Leach was halfway down, didn't make the most enthusiastic effort to regain his ground. I think he'd almost given himself up there.

It wasn't the best throw and if he had got back a little bit faster he might've saved his own bacon.

  15. 50 runs

    Gloucs 136 v Lancs 105-1 (trail by 31)

Keaton Jennings runs one down to third man and that brings up the Lancashire opener's half century.

It has come off 88 balls.

    Benkenstein c Davies c Barker 1 (Warks 190 v Essex 19-2 - trail by 171 runs)

    And another!

Luc Benkenstein is trapped on the crease by a quicker ball from Keith Barker who gets more late swing.

It takes a feather off the outside edge and gives wicketkeeper Alex Davies a routine catch. Barker deserved that.

Two quick wickets and the Bears are roaring back.

Charlie Allison is in early doors.

    Leach (run out Dawson) 20 (Hants 238 v Somerset 250-9 - lead by 12)

Another curse of the commentator - Jack Leach is run out!

It's a complete mess in truth.

Alfie Ogborne sends Jack Leach back and there is probably a run on offer here but Leach is halfway down the crease already.

The throw from Nick Gubbins towards the stumps isn't the best but Leach is still caught in no-man's land and Liam Dawson takes the bails off.

Last man in for Somerset, Jake Ball.

  18. 'Baker keeps batsman guessing'published at 14:26 BST 18 April

    Hants 238 v Somerset 250-8

    Simon Hughes
The Analyst on The Cricket Social

I like the way Baker varies his length as well.

He just keeps the batsman guessing a little bit, the odd short ball thrown in even though it's a low pitch and hard work getting the ball to get up and head high.

He's bending his back to make the batsman force them onto the backfoot and then trying to pin them LBW.

  19. 250 runs

250 up for Somersetpublished at 14:26 BST 18 April

    Hants 238 v Somerset 250-8 (lead by 12)

Jack Leach has settled somewhat at the crease after lunch, and although his drive is cut off at mid-off, he scampers through for a single and Somerset have 250 on the board.

That means they have reached their first batting point of this match.

    Elgar c Mousley b Bamber (Warks 190 v Essex 18-1 - trail by 172 runs)

Paul Walter takes a step down the wicket to try and negate Keith Barker's swing.

It's a bit uppish to a full ball and there's brief hope from the bowler but it races past the cover fielder for four.

    And then the breakthrough!

Ethan Bamber moves one into Dean Elgar who is squared up and nicks it through to second slip where Dan Mousley pouches the chance down low.

    Luc Benkenstein in.
