What is clear is that Sharma's slower balls are working. She's keeping an off stump line, it's her debut and she's really delivering.

    Wong b Nandani 4 (Eng 129-7)

There's no hat-trick but Nandani Sharma has a third wicket on debut. It's that back-of-the-hand slower ball again which completely foxes Issy Wong.

    Nandani looks very good.

Shafali Verma is one of the best fielders in the game at the moment, she has an impressive catch success rate of 91% in T20s since the start of 2023, up from 75% in matches before 2023.

No hat-trick here for the India debutant.

This next delivery is a hat-trick ball for Nandani Sharma...

  7. Eng 128-6published at 17 overs

Issy Wong belts her first ball for four. Remember her over, the second of the innings, which cost 27 really got India going earlier.

You can see the need for Nat Sciver-Brunt and Danni Wyatt-Hodge in this side.

After a lot of swinging without success, Freya Kemp nicks one behind.

  10. Eng 124-5published at 16.4 overs

My esteemed colleagues said on TMS earlier that defeat today wouldn't be a problem for England because it would allow them a proper test.

The worry is they're looking a long way second best against a supposed rival to win the World Cup.

It's the slower ball that's done for Dani Gibson. She's looked to go down the ground, but because it's slower she's dragged it.

Shafali Verma has plucked that, she wasn't quite there.

Dani Gibson follows first ball. She is done by a slower ball from Nandani Sharma. She aims for the hills but only skies it into the dark Essex skies.

This is going to be a big India win.

There was a time when you wouldn't have backed Shafali Verma to take that catch, but she's come on leaps and bound.

You can understand why Amy Jones has hit that shot, every ball has to go for six.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.5 overs

    Jones c Verma b Sharma 67 (Eng 120-4)

And that is the game. If you're being harsh, you'd ask why Amy Jones has taken on the longest boundary. She has picked out deep mid-wicket.

Dave Hartley: Batting at a run a ball in T20 isn't going to win a World Cup. England have to consider replacing Heather Knight for the next match.

  17. Eng 116-3published at 15.2 overs

It would be a massive call from leave out Heather Knight for a World Cup. Remember Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Nat Sciver-Brunt need to find a way back into this XI.

A lack of boundaries mean England have fallen behind in this game.
