The game is way beyond Sri Lanka's reach but they can still make the most of the time in the middle to take something into their next games.

Nilakshi de Silva plays a lovely deft touch past Amy Jones for four.

  2. SL 105-8published at 15 overs

Another tidy over from Kemp, who still has one remaining to see if she can bag herself a five-wicket haul.

It's been exceptional from England. The perfect start to a World Cup, get 219 on the board and don't let anyone from Sri Lanka get going. Getting the wicket of Athapaththu changed the game completely.

Charlotte Edwards will be absolutely delighted with this all-round performance.

There was quite a lot of speculation about what England's best XI would be for this opener after the New Zealand and India series, and it feels like every place is pretty much nailed-on now.

  8. SL 93-8published at 13.1 overs

    And breathe!

That was a chaotic over - two runs and three wickets from it. Freya Kemp has figures of 4-13!

Make that three in the over!

Freya Kemp will be on a hat-trick if and when she starts her next over.

This is just simple, reliable bowling to the tail. Full, straight and Sugandika Dasanayaka departs first ball.

  10. wicket

    Nuthyangana b Kemp 0 (SL 92-7)

Two in the over! England are closing in.

Top of off stump, nice and simple, and Kaushani Nuthyangana plays all around it.

Freya Kemp has three, and England are ticking all the boxes this evening.

Very reliable Linsey Smith! Exceptional fielder. For me she is the best all-round fielder in the world. Speed, hands, bravery on the ball, she has all of it.

    Kaveesha c Smith b Kemp 19 (SL 92-6)

    But it costs nothing!

Kaveesha Dilhari picks out Linsey Smith at deep square leg, and she barely has to move.

Freya Kemp's slower balls are working really well tonight.

  14. dropped catch

Kaveesha dropped on 17published at 12.2 overs

    SL 92-5

Almost an exact replica of the one she took earlier, but Danni Wyatt-Hodge puts one down.

Outside edge, the ball hangs high in the air and it spills through Wyatt-Hodge's hands as she sprints backwards from point.

A tough one, and I think she's got a fair amount of credit in the bank tonight!

  15. SL 90-5published at 12 overs

    Target 220

Another economical over from Charlie Dean, who has 2-18 from her three overs.

I'm a big fan of shots being described as "lush", by the way.

This is turning into a Wicked performance from England - Wyatt Hodge’s hitting was Defying Gravity. If they keep this showstopper style up, they’ll be the most Popular side in the tournament.

    David, Streatham

That wicket will give Freya Kemp an enormous amount of confidence. So important to have her not only as a power hitting left-handed batter but also as more than a make-up fifth bowler.

That was lush. She just sort of helped it but it sounded so sweet off the bat. That was a beautiful transfer of weight.

  19. SL 84-5published at 11 overs

    Target 220

Shot! Kaveesha Dilhari skips down the pitch and lofts the ball sweetly for four.

There have been signs of quality from Sri Lanka but they have lacked England's consistency. The gulf in class has been stark.

  20. SL 78-5published at 10.3 overs

The third umpire takes a quick look at a run out shout as Sophie Ecclestone throws the stumps down from mid-off, having retrieved the ball from Dani Gibson putting down a very tough one-handed caught and bowled chance.

But Kaveesha Dilhari puts in a good dive and makes her ground safely.
