Orla Prendergast has the most experience of the Irish players in terms of playing around the world, she has played some franchise cricket and has played domestically in England.

You can see the difference in the confidence she has, the poise, to play in front of thousands of people. We need to get more of the Irish players experiencing that.

The youth teams need to be playing more to get those opportunities.

  5. Ire 57-5published at 10 overs

At the halfway stage of Ireland's innings, England are in total control.

That's a big wicket for England because if anyone could've taken the game away from them, it was Orla Prendergast.

    Prendergast b Gibson 26 (Ire 57-5)

Prendergast goes and Ireland's hopes might go with her.

She shapes to cut Dani Gibson again, but only gets a bottom edge onto her stumps.

  8. Ire 57-4published at 9.1 overs

With wickets tumbling at the other end, Orla Prendergast continues on her merry way.

Dani Gibson is cut behind point for four as Prendergast moves onto 26 from 16 balls.

Coming down the track is a real strength for Rebecca Stokell but it wasn’t to be for her today - the Irish batter averaged 71 and strikes at 172 when using her feet prior to that wicket.

  10. Ire 53-4published at 9 overs

    Almost two in two!

Leah Paul chips her first ball into the leg side and it lands just short of Nat Sciver-Brunt, diving forwards.

It's a very clever piece of bowling from Ecclestone, a bit quicker, followed by another brilliant bit of keeping from Amy Jones because her view was obscured.

I can understand that she was trying to keep the score ticking along but that is a frustrating time for Ireland to lose a wicket.

    Beautiful bowling.

Sophie Ecclestone lures Rebecca Stokell out of her crease, beats the inside edge and Amy Jones removes the bails.

You definitely don't expect that from Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

  14. Ire 52-3published at 8.2 overs

Another England misfield, this time from Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

You wonder if the outfield is still a bit greasy after the rain earlier.

  15. Ire 50-3published at 8 overs

Better from Rebecca Stokell, who powers four through the covers and picks up two more thanks to some sloppy England fielding.

Rebecca Stokell has got to realise that, even though she is two off eight, she just needs to stay with Prendergast. They need a partnership.

  17. Ire 44-3published at 7.3 overs

Freya Kemp starts with a couple of shortish deliveries, but finds her mark and the ball just misses Rebecca Stokell's leg stump.

  19. Ire 43-3published at 7 overs

An excellent comeback from Charlie Dean, who goes for just one from the final five deliveries of her second over.

Rebecca Stokell has two from seven balls, while Orla Prendergast has 19 from 11.

  20. Ire 42-3published at 6.1 overs

Orla Prendergast is dealing in boundaries.

A bit leg side from Charlie Dean and it's helped away for four behind square.
