Will Jacks is the latest to face the twin prongs of the Australia attack and the Adelaide sun.

He faces four dot balls from Pat Cummins, then fences a slower ball away to get off the mark.

It is going to boot off here. This is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. This is where Snicko needs sacking.

The third umpire said there is nothing obvious there as he could see a gap between the bat and ball. Jamie Smith is convinced he didn't hit it.

Australia have gone up and made a loud noise because everybody knows you don't trust Snicko now, so you appeal for everything and review it if you have to.

Ben Stokes has his hands on his hips. Smith has gone off shaking his head.

Again, in this Test match we have something wrong with the technology.

Well... either way Jamie Smith is going to have to go.

The big screen sends him on his way, but there's another gap between the big spike and when the ball passes the bat.

Alex Carey survived on that basis yesterday, today Jamie Smith has to head back to the dressing room.

England still trail by 212 runs.

    It's Snicko time again!

We await its judgement as Jamie Smith appears to get an under edge playing a big heave into the leg side off Pat Cummins.

Australian pace bowlers have been getting consistent with their lines which each Test in this series.

57% of their deliveries today have been in the channel outside the off stump today, a jump from 45% in Perth and 52% in Brisbane.

They've managed this level of accuracy without the metronomic expert Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins featuring for the first time today.

I have no words. I am trying to describe how I feel and how this game is going.

I was so, so hopeful at the start of the day. I am just flat.

I think Australia have bowled well, but when you put a ball in the same spot for more than two balls it creates pressure. So, as a summariser, I am fed up.

Jamie Smith powerfully pulls the following delivery, but the ball is cut-off in the deep and he can only run a single.

    Still, that's England's 150 up off 261 deliveries.

  11. What you've missed on day twopublished at 05:02 GMT 18 December 2025

Just waking up in the UK? Well, I dare say it's been a case of what you feared rather than hoped for in Adelaide so far on day two.

It all started relatively well for England as, despite Mitchell Starc's half-century, Australia were bowled out for 371 with Jofra Archer taking the two remaining wickets to complete his five-for.

England then moved to 37-0 in good time and hopes an enjoyable day watching the tourists bat in the sun were raised.

It took 15 balls for those hopes to be dashed as Pat Cummins got Zak Crawley with a beauty before Nathan Lyon removed Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett in the same over.

Joe Root and Harry Brook tried to rebuild but the former was caught behind off Cummins early in the afternoon session to leave England 71-4.

There was some solid resistance from Brook and Ben Stokes for much of the afternoon session.

Brook, one remarkable six over cover off Scott Boland aside, played with much greater restraint and was looking good.

However, he got a good one from Cameron Green just before tea to put England right back in bother.

Since tea, Stokes and Jamie Smith have managed to prevent any further damage but England still trail by more than 200 runs.

    Same old Aussies, always...

I have had enough of Snicko. It bounced anyway. Nobody trusts Snicko.

Mitchell Starc said, "Snicko needs to be sacked. Worst technology ever."

  13. Not outpublished at 43.2 overs

    Well, this is somewhat farcical.

Snicko seems to be struggling again - the visuals appear to show contact with the glove, then perhaps the helmet, but the technology lets Jamie Smith off the hook with an out of sync spike.

But it doesn't matter because the ball bounces before Usman Khawaja scoops it up - although once the cameras showed us that it didn't stop the third umpire going back and watching a few more replays of the glove contact.

Cricket, eh? Jamie Smith survives on 16.

    Six... and out?

Jamie Smith pulls Pat Cummins over the square boundary but then, defending with high hands up near his head, sees a ball loop up to Usman Khawaja in the slips.

It hit something - was it the gloves? Australia think so. So does the umpire, but was it a fair catch?

The thing that I find really depressing about this Ashes is I don't think Australia have even played that well, yet they've been far better in every single department. The batting lineup has collapsed in every single innings. Other countries would be 2-0 up against them.
