England are a great chasing side. They have to find that balance between defence and attack. If England win from here it would be a massive confidence boost.

Brydon Carse arrives in the middle and faces the last four balls of Scott Boland's over without scoring.

A wicket maiden for the 35-year-old Boland, who has conceded just one run from his four overs in this session.

We saw an absolute masterclass in keeping up to the stumps in Brisbane from Alex Carey.

If he was back normally where he would be for Scott Boland, that would have been a nothing ball. Carey was right there, and you have to give credit to him for that.

    Will Jacks will feel unlucky.

    Make that three wickets!

Will Jacks chops Scott Boland's delivery onto his pads and Alex Carey dives to his right and snaffles the looping ball.

The benefits of standing up to the seamer - that makes it five catches in the innings for the Australian wicketkeeper.

Ben Stokes eats up more deliveries, facing a Nathan Lyon maiden.

England have scored 35 runs from 13 overs in the session, losing two wickets.

The last two innings by Ben Stokes have been very watchful.

The difference from this series is that Australia have bowled in better areas for longer compared to the English bowlers.

Scott Boland concedes his first run of the session, with Ben Stokes sending a single to point.

The one scoring shot of the over.

Australian pace bowlers have been getting consistent with their lines which each Test in this series. 55% of their deliveries today have been in the channel outside the off stump today, a jump from 45% in Perth and 52% in Brisbane.

They've managed this level of accuracy without the metronomic expert Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins featuring for the first time today.

Can’t see any way back for England - we’re second in every category in this series. When Australia are bowling it looks like they’ll get a wicket every ball and England struggle to get 10 wickets!

Well, I’m glad the lads have got their talking point to deflect criticism onto. Most disappointing tour I can remember, heads must roll regardless of Snicko or anything else.

It has all been happening in the last half hour. Test cricket, technology, quite incredible.

Those last two decisions, the right decision has probably been made, but my issue is with the process.

Like Cameron Green, his predecessor at this end, Scott Boland starts his evening session with two maidens.

Alex Carey is stood up to the stumps, a tactic that went extremely well for Australia in Brisbane when Michael Neser was bowling.

Clear gap between bat and ball. Ball doesn't deviate. Snicko is clearly wrong. On field umpire says not out. It's not out as no evidence to overturn. Stokes should have been arguing the point there.

Crikey, almost a stunning catch from Travis Head.

Nathan Lyon replaces Pat Cummins and Will Jacks pops his second ball wide of Head at short leg.

The Australian fielder flings a hand out and nearly holds on to what would have been a remarkable catch.

Jacks gets off the strike from the following delivery, the second of two singles in the over, as we head into drinks.

  17. Eng 160-6published at 47 overs

Scott Boland returns to replace Cameron Green and starts with a maiden to Will Jacks.

10 of Australia's 47 overs have been maidens, England bowled 12 in 91 in their innings.

With the previous one that hit the helmet and not the glove - why didn't the ball fly though and not carry to Usman Khawaja?

I am on one today. I disagree with the Snicko boss.

We are in contact with Snicko on the last two incidents. They say their technology showed the ball hit the toe of the bat when Smith was out and in the previous incident the ball hit the helmet and not the glove.

Snicko needs to go. It’s not fit for purpose.

    Julian, Canada

    That is genuinely a disgrace.

Just absolutely farcical that’s being given out based on Snicko.
