How are England looking to take a wicket? They are just hoping that the Australian batsmen make a mistake, there's no pressure.

  2. Aus 154-1published at 23 overs

    Target 205

150 up for Australia, as Marnus Labuschagne powers a four through mid-off off Jofra Archer.

A couple more singles take him to 26 off 34 balls, a solid supporting role in Travis Head's heroics.

England look dispirited and I'm not surprised, the game has just been snatched out of their hands.

Travis Head's century consisted of four sixes and 12 fours, it's the second fastest century by an Australian in Ashes history.

  5. Aus 147-1published at 22 overs

    Target 205

One more single for Marnus Labuschagne, as the 22nd over comes to a close.

Australia need 58 runs to win, they should make that tonight.

It's a brilliant hundred from Travis Head. Another one for this top class Australian batsmen. The bowlers have dominated till Travis Head joined in this afternoon, there's nothing England can do to stop him.

You can hear the noise, just a brilliant innings. That's a guy who's gone out there in prime form and backed himself. He's shown that he doesn't mind the pressure.

Maybe it was a blessing for Australia that Usman Khawaja went out with a bad back.

    Aus 146-1

A magnificent hundred for Travis Head!

The stand-in opener moves to 99 with a four through the covers off Gus Atkinson, his 12th boundary, then hits a rather ungainly loopy shot off a bouncer than lands just in front of backward point.

He brings up his 10th Test century off 69 balls.

Loving the criticism of Bazball while the Oz opener creams his way to 85 from 59 balls… Oh, the irony.

England’s ability to deflate the entire cricketing fan base is second to none. In 24 hours, we’ve played their batters into form, shot our own batters form to pieces and now have a complete inability to put six balls in the same place. It’s the same pitch they bowled on earlier in the day!

It seems Australia learned from their first innings mistakes and England didn’t - that is the difference this Test match. So frustrating.

England haven't found a way to dry the Australians out. They haven't managed to put on the dot ball pressure.

  12. Aus 138-1published at 21 overs

A quieter over from Jofra Archer, just two singles from it.

The England seamer draws a rare false shot from Travis Head, with the opener taking a big waft across the line.

Pathetic with the bat from England. Genuine question what value does Brendon McCullum bring to this side? A lot of the positives of the axis of Ben Stokes/McCullum come from Stokes and his excellent captaincy. Thrown so many good positions by batters (also to blame) not applying themselves in the past two years - coach seems unable to improve it.

One positive is that the quicker this is done, the less work our bowlers have done, and the more likely it is they can all play the next game. Just be nice if our batters turned up.

    Dan in Brecon

How do England recover from this? The criticism about a lack of preparation will be deemed valid, Australia seem better at Bazball than we do, we’re carrying at least one walking wicket (Zak Crawley), and two of Australia’s best bowlers are about to return to the team?! I can’t see England getting anything out of this series if we lose here.

This is unbelievable. This is what Travis Head can do. He's every comfortable with his position in the game. He's got that confidence and is very comfortable performing on the big stage.

  15. Aus 136-1published at 20 overs

    Target 205

    More boundaries for Travis Head!

He backs off and guides Gus Atkinson to the ropes at third, then swats the following delivery through fine leg.

He's on 92 from 63 balls at the end of the over, having only reached his fifty 40 minutes ago.

    Aus 127-1published at 19 overs

    Target 205

Ah, they're getting really confident now.

Marnus Labuschagne, not known for his elaborate strokeplay, ramps the returning Jofra Archer over the slips for four.

Travis Head then turns a four through mid-wicket and then finishes the over with a pull straight down the ground for six.

England bowlers, who bowled so superbly yesterday, have been found entirely wanting today in the face of this Australian assault.

England need something here, they are absolutely desperate.

  18. Aus 111-1published at 18 overs

    Target 205

    Lovely shot.

Travis Head times his shot nicely, sending Gus Atkinson's delivery away through a gap in the covers for four.

It's his eighth four of the innings, and he's hit three sixes to boot.

  19. Aus 106-1published at 17 overs

    And four more.

Ben Stokes drops the ball somewhat short and Travis Head dispatches it through mid-wicket.

A single to mid-off off the last ball of the over sees him retain the strike and move to 68 from 50 balls.

Meanwhile Australia's required runs has dropped to double figures - they need 99 to win with just over an hour left in the day.

Three consecutive boundaries. England need to somehow stop this or the Australians are heading straight to victory.
