This is a smart Aussie team and they’ll win this match. The pitch is tough but not a minefield and our batsman (predictably woefully undercooked) have let down what was a magnificent bowling performance yesterday.

    Ryan in Sheffield

Feel a familiar sense of deja vu here and reckon they chase this down with five+ wickets in hand. Our middle order threw the game away earlier.

    Dom in Shropshire

This bowling already feels less aggressive and threatening, and Australia seem more composed. England could learn a thing or two.

Australia are doing this comfortably. It's the first time in the match that batting has looked normal.

  4. Aus 22-0published at 6 overs

Back-to-back threes for the Australian batters off Gus Atkinson.

Jake Weatherald pulls through backward square, then Travis Head drives past mid-off.

Is it blustery out there, is it throwing the bowlers? As a bowling side you just need one person to find the breakthrough.

The batters out there don't hang around, they like to see bat on ball.

The game is going Australia's way at the moment.

  7. Aus 16-0published at 5 overs

Jake Weatherald retains the strike with a single through square.

Prior to the review, he'd picked up his first runs in Test cricket from his 13th delivery in the format, scoring three at square, then added four with an edge between third slip and gully.

That was crucial, would've been nice for England.

Yeah, that nibbled the thigh pad.

Decision overturned - Jake Weatherald survives.

I heard a noise but that didn't sound like a bat to me.

  12. Australia reviewpublished at 4.4 overs

    Up goes the umpire's finger!

Jake Weatherald nicks behind off Jofra Archer - but is it bat?

    He reviews immediately.

Australia will win this Test. They got sucked into England's plan in the first innings, they are too wise to allow that to happen again, and if England lose this match, I don't see them winning any other Test. You can't bat like we do in Australia and expect to win, it's never going to happen.

    Eddie in Canterbury

Just not good enough from England. There’s little chance Australia will be as bad again. This will be an Aussie win that is all the England batters' fault.

    Chris in Wokingham.

Not sure if I can take much more on this cricket up and down like a yo-yo. Love the commentary. More of Tuffers please. Makes me laugh and making life for a truck driver better.

The quality of the cricket hasn't been great which has made it an entertaining match. The batting from both sides has not been the quality you'd expect.

England just need to find their momentum, then they'll get a few quickly.

  16. Aus 7-0published at 4 overs

    Target 205

Travis Head denies Gus Atkinson consecutive maidens, cracking the final delivery of the over through mid-wicket for four.

That's the first boundary of the innings.

Weatherald is itching to get off the mark.

  18. Aus 3-0published at 3 overs

Travis Head's shot is stalled but not stopped entirely by the gully fielder, and the stand-in opener takes a single.

Jofra Archer then strikes Jake Weatherald on the left arm - no physio is required, with the debutant failing to get off the mark from the rest of the over.

There's some lovely nip and carry off a full length from Atkinson. He's so effective in this part of the world.

  20. Aus 2-0published at 2 overs

Gus Atkinson starts with a maiden to Jake Weatherald.

The Australia opener, who sports hooped earrings in both of his lobes, remains on a pair on debut.
