    Absolutely spot on, Tim.

I think there's an element of playing the match situation rather than the delivery.

Boland, with sun cream smeared across his nose and cheeks, continues.

England put Scott Boland off his length yesterday. Today they’ve been a bit static in their crease and allowed him to find the right length.

This is insanity from England! For the second post lunch session in a row… What does Brendon McCullum tell them? Go out and bat with no brain?

    Angry Big Al in W12

That’s just really poor batting from England. You can be positive without playing the worst risk for reward shot on this pitch. Throwing away a golden opportunity through an inability to show restraint. Very poor.

Smith dropped on noughtpublished at 19.5 overs

Mitchell Starc his his finger in the air celebrating after drawing an edge off Jamie Smith's bat...but Usman Khawaja drops it.

It just about carried to Khawaja at first slip but he cannot quite hold on.

I don't know what the Aussies have had for lunch bit it's worked. They've come out and steamed at England.

Australia are really back in this now, they've ripped the heart out of that English middle order. It's been an amazing session for them, they're right back in it.

    Unbelievable stuff.

That's another one! Mitchell Starc returned, Joe Root is knocked over, and where has this come from?

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.2 overs

    Root b Starc 8 (Eng 76-5)

This Test match keeps see-sawing. A huge wicket for Australia and out of nowhere England are 76-5

Joe Root attempts to drive the returning Mitchell Starc and ends up inside edging the left-arm quick on to his stumps.

The Australians at the Perth Stadium are bouncing on their feet. England fans have their heads in their hands.

That's another one, Scott Boland's done it again! What a fight back from Australia. Suddenly, it's game on.

Scott Boland is on fire after lunch, getting it done for Australia. Again, just getting that bounce off side stump. Harry Brook has just poked at it, easy catching. That's a poor shot, he'll be kicking himself.

Australia are right back in it now.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19 overs

    Brook c Khawaja b Boland 0 (Eng 76-4)

Australia are fighting back here. Scott Boland is leading the charge as he bags two in the over, and it's a big wicket in the form of Harry Brook.

Boland angles it into Brook who, in contrast to his first innings of carefree swishing and swiping, rather tentatively pokes at a fuller ball and edges to Usman Khawaja at first slip.

A big drive from Ollie Pope, caught by Alex Carey. Australia are fighting there way back into this.

Well bowled Scottie Boland, Ollie Pope went for it, there's that Perth bounce again, you feel like you should be able to drive and get that one but he couldn't connect. Boland will be happy to get that one, heh had a rough day yesterday.

    Australia are back in it.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.3 overs

    Pope c Carey b Boland 33 (Eng 76-3)

Scott Boland has his second of the afternoon.

Ollie Pope plays a bit of a loose drive to a wider delivery from the Aussie seamer and edges it into the gloves of Alex Carey.

A touch rash from Pope, who throws his head back and roars in frustration.

The ball previous Boland had beaten the outside of Pope's defensive prod. Did that prey on Pope's mind?

That was a magnificent shot from Joe Root. We've seen the ball slow on the outfield but there was no slowing down on that one.

  20. Eng 75-2published at 18 overs

    Lead by 115 runs

Ollie Pope works an overpitched delivery from Cameron Green through mid-wicket for three.

Later in the over Joe Root swivels on his heels and emphatically pulls a short ball from Green for four.

The Yorkshireman picked the length up early and rolled his wrists over it.

Encouraging signs for England's all-time leading runscorer.
