    It just about carried to Khawaja at first slip but he cannot quite hold on.

    Australia are really back in this now, they've ripped the heart out of that English middle order. It's been an amazing session for them, they're right back in it.

    Boland angles it into Brook who, in contrast to his first innings of carefree swishing and swiping, rather tentatively pokes at a fuller ball and edges to Usman Khawaja at first slip.

    Ollie Pope plays a bit of a loose drive to a wider delivery from the Aussie seamer and edges it into the gloves of Alex Carey.

    A touch rash from Pope, who throws his head back and roars in frustration.

    The ball previous Boland had beaten the outside of Pope's defensive prod. Did that prey on Pope's mind?

    That was a magnificent shot from Joe Root. We've seen the ball slow on the outfield but there was no slowing down on that one.

    Ollie Pope works an overpitched delivery from Cameron Green through mid-wicket for three.

    Later in the over Joe Root swivels on his heels and emphatically pulls a short ball from Green for four.

    The Yorkshireman picked the length up early and rolled his wrists over it.
