This is where the Barmy Army are crucial to England. The lads will get a lot of energy from the travelling support.

  2. Aus 336-6published at 66 overs

Midway through his 17th over, Ben Stokes is looking mighty uncomfortable. He walks away from his second delivery quite gingerly and does a bit of stretching.

It looks like cramp - hopefully it's just cramp. He's wagging his left leg around in between deliveries.

He completes the over, conceding a single.

Top delivery from Ben Stokes to dismiss Josh Inglis.

The ball to dismiss Inglis was one of the fullest, only the second delivery projected to hit the stumps and seamed in prodigiously more than any delivery the right-hander had faced from the England captain in this innings.

  4. Aus 335-6published at 65 overs

Alex Carey steps away from his stumps to pound Brydon Carse down the ground for four and follows it up with a single. There's a lot resting on his shoulders right now.

Michael Neser grabs a single of his own - Australia lead by one run.

    That's what Ben Stokes does.

However, Josh Inglis hasn't helped himself. There's no foot movement from the Australian.

Huge half an hour coming up!

You'd be tempted to bring Jofra Archer back in here, but he does look very heavy legged.

  7. Not out - Aus 329-6published at 64 overs

There's an edge. Michael Neser survives.

Australia trail by five runs with four wickets remaining. Again, I'm thinking about England's 10th wicket partnership...

We're in a terrible position to say if it was good.

    OHHHH! HUGE APPEAL!

Ben Stokes wants Michael Neser lbw. The umpire says no. Stokes says look again.

It kept low and jagged back. To me that just highlights how important that wicket of Green was and how good the timing was.

Now England are right back into this game.

He's bowled him! Stokes has ripped the middle stump, Duckett's drop doesn't matter anymore. Australia are running out of batsmen.

    Stumps everywhere!

Josh Inglis departs for 23 (25). Ben Duckett's drop only cost two runs.

Ben Stokes has his second wicket.

Duckett went one-handed, could he have gone two? That's two bad England misses, Duckett has dropped two now.

  15. dropped catch

Inglis dropped on 21published at 63.2 overs

    Aus 327-5

Is that a drop? It was very low to the right of a sprawling Ben Duckett at gully, who went for it with one hand. A tougher chance than the one he spilled earlier, but probably another drop.

With those two quick wickets in the 57th over, Brydon Carse has salvaged what would've been a poor effort today with figures of 3-105 in 15 overs at 7.0 runs per over. Carse took 85 legal balls to concede 100 runs in this innings today.

The quickest any English pace bowler has taken (in terms of ball bowled) to concede 100 runs in an innings in Test history when ball-by-ball data is available.

Among all bowlers including spinners, only Jack Leach (73 balls v Australia in Brisbane, 2021) had bowled fewer deliveries to concede 100 runs in a Test innings for England.

With the way Carey is getting into position right now, maybe Carse should try that yorker again.

  18. Aus 327-5published at 63 overs

England's bowlers look exhausted. Brydon Carse has his hands on his hips at the top of his mark.

    A single and a wide.

Baz and Stokesy are big on body language and the behavior you show in the field.

However, Test cricket can grind you down.

As a bowler, it is about not chasing the game too much, you have got to be patient and put enough balls in the right area.

You get a clear plan from Baz and Stokes. When you go with a plan it is about sticking to the plan for a sustained amount of time and giving it chance for it to work.
