Have your say on England women this summer

  1. Eng 63-3published at 17 overs

    Target 211

Nensi Patel is only playing her fifth ODI here but is showing impressive control. She's yet to bowl a bad ball.

There were two boundaries to Kemp in that previous over but this one returns to normality.

  2. Eng 59-3published at 16 overs

    Target 211

Maia Bouchier is struggling here. Shortly after that edge she drives the ball in the air towards mid-off. Luckily for her it bounces a few yards short.

The right-hander has four from 14 balls.

There is, of course, no need to panic with a low target such as this.

  3. Eng 54-3published at 15.1 overs

Edged... just short of the keeper! There's no appeal anyway.

I don't think it carried but Maia Bouchier gets a bit of a life.

The back-to-back wickets of Knight and Lamb have flipped WinViz into New Zealand's favour.

    • Before Heather Knight's wicket: England 65% New Zealand 35%
    • After Heather Knight's wicket: England 50% New Zealand 50%
    • After Emma Lamb's wicket: England 30% New Zealand 70%
  5. Eng 54-3published at 15 overs

    That's four too.

Four driven along the ground through the covers this time by Kemp.

That's a useful counter punch and Nensi Patel has something to think about for the first time.

We were talking about the lack of scoreboard pressure 25 minutes ago but there is scoreboard pressure now.

  7. Eng 50-3published at 14.4 overs

That's a better shot. Freya Kemp comes down the pitch again and this time middles it back over the bowler's head. Four runs.

  8. Eng 46-3published at 14.3 overs

Freya Kemp tries to use her feet and almost misses. It's tense.

  9. Eng 46-3published at 14 overs

Maia Bouchier struggles to find the middle of her bat through this over and when she does the ball is saved by the static presence of the stumps at the non-striker's end.

England are now behind the scoring rate and where New Zealand were at this stage.

  10. Eng 44-3published at 13 overs

    Target 211

England have pushed Freya Kemp up to number five on her return to the side. She's another left-hander but right now England need runs in whatever form they come.

Kemp and Bouchier get themselves off the mark to at least get the scoreboard moving again.

The pressure from New Zealand, dot ball after dot ball.

Emma Lamb using her feet, hitting down the ground, it's one of her strengths but it wasn't the right time for it.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.2 overs

    Lamb c J Kerr b Patel 15 (NZ 42-3)

    Problems!

Three balls after the dismissal of Heather Knight, Emma Lamb comes down the pitch and has a swipe. She's aiming towards the Wear but only manages to sky the ball into the hands of mid-off.

England haven't scored a run for almost three overs and have lost two wickets.

  13. Eng 42-2published at 12 overs

    Target 211

Next in is Maia Bouchier. She is one of those looking to press her case amid the injury absentees.

That was a wicket maiden by the way.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.5 overs

    Knight lbw b Mair 19 (Eng 42-2)

Hitting the top of leg stump! It's actually only umpire's call on impact, with Knight almost getting herself outside the line of off stump, but having been given out on the field the former skipper has to go.

New Zealand are right in this now.

  15. Postpublished at 15:42 BST 10 May

Hmmm. It's hit Knight on the knee roll. She may be struggling. Rosemary Mair is tall but isn't going to get massive bounce.

  16. England reviewpublished at 15:41 BST 10 May

    Heather Knight is given lbw!

This looked high to me and she reviews.

  17. Eng 42-1published at 11 overs

    Lamb 15, Knight 19

Off-spinner Nensi Patel, hiding her eyes beyond some green-framed sunglasses, begins with an accurate maiden to squeeze the pressure on England just a touch.

It's 21 balls since the last boundary...

  18. Eng 42-1published at 10 overs

    Target 211

The impressive Bree Illing concludes the powerplay with a flurry of dots. England are matching the required run-rate to this point.

  19. Eng 41-1published at 9 overs

    Target 211

What is it Heather Knight likes so much about the Kerrs then? An excellent stat from Srini to start the new season.

Heather Knight has an excellent record against both Kerr sisters in ODIs.

    • v Jess Kerr - 11 innings, 78 runs, 2 dismissals, 103 balls, 75.7 strike rate
    • v Melie Kerr - 10 innings, 80 runs, 1 dismissals, 99 balls, 80.8 strike rate
