Have your say on England women this summer

  1. Eng 105-3published at 25 overs

Maia Bouchier takes England's total into three figures after rocking on to the back foot and whipping a delivery from Amelia Kerr which sticks in the pitch for four through mid-wicket.

At the halfway point England require 106 runs.

Once Freya Kemp's back bowling she will bring a really good balance to that order. It takes some pressure of Nat Sciver-Brunt from the bowling side of things if she's got Kemp.

  3. Eng 96-3published at 24 overs

This partnership between Maia Bouchier and Freya Kemp worth 54 runs at the end of Jess Kerr's latest over.

However, there's a bit of a heart-in-mouth off the penultimate ball of the over when Bouchier sends back Kemp who is left diving to make her ground at the non-striker's end.

Rosemary Mair shies at the stumps, but it misses. That would have been close.

Melie Kerr bowls googlies twice as often against left-handers compared to right-handers.

M Kerr - % googlies in ODIs since the start of 2022:

    • v Right-Handers : 11%
    • v Left-Handers : 23%

On average, her googlies are around 2mph slower and slightly fuller than the traditional leg-break.

  5. Eng 91-3published at 23 overs

Excellent hand-eye coordination from Maia Bouchier as she skips down the pitch to Amelia Kerr a little premeditated but is able to adjust to thrash a drive though the covers for four.

Bouchier and the left-handed Freya Kemp then rotate the strike for the remainder of the over.

Attritional 50-over cricket is what I'd call this

  7. Eng 82-3published at 22 overs

The elder Kerr sibling, Jess, follows her sister by delivering an equally-tight over.

England will not be too concerned with the run rate at the moment, though.

  8. Eng 79-3published at 21 overs

Amelia Kerr wheels away through her second over.

Maia Bouchier and Freya Kemp content to knock it about.

Three runs off the over as England chip away at this chase.

    Thanks, Matthew.

England have plenty of overs here but it's a tricky pitch.

A wicket there and New Zealand would have been favourites but as it is the game remains in the balance.

Timothy Abraham will take you to the finish...

Umpire's call on leg stump! It was hitting a good chunk of Maia Bouchier's timbers but not enough.

    She survives.

  12. Postpublished at 16:20 BST 10 May

    She's not hit it...

The technology is taking a long time. It's a nervous wait for Maia Bouchier...

When you're seeing the ball keep that low, you cannot be pulling. It has to be going down leg for Bouchier to be saved.

New Zealand look confident as they wait for the big screen.

  16. New Zealand reviewpublished at 16:18 BST 10 May

Hmmm. New Zealand send an lbw shout against Maia Bouchier upstairs.

This might be close, you know.

  17. Eng 75-3published at 19.1 overs

    Right on cue.

Making me look silly, Maia Bouchier locates the middle of her bat and pulls the returning Jess Kerr for four.

  18. Eng 71-3published at 19 overs

    Bouchier 10, Kemp 18

Freya Kemp still looks more comfortable than Maia Bouchier, when the off-spinner is on at least.

Interestingly, it looks like Melie Kerr is taking herself out of the attack after one over. I'm surprised.

  19. Eng 66-3published at 18 overs

    Target 211

Right away Melie Kerr is causing problems to Freya Kemp. After one ball is missed, Izzy Gaze is whipping the bails off in a flash. Another ball is edged to backward point.

This is bubbling into a good game.

Here's how Heather Knight was dismissed. I think she thinks she was a little unlucky...
