  3. Pak 57-3published at 20 overs

    Target 248

Another run our chance in Deepti Sharma's first over.

The Pakistan pair are showing plenty of intent but that leads to a mix-up as they um and ah over taking a quick single.

In the end, they go for it and Natalia Pervaiz dies to make her ground - but bangs her head on the turf in the process.

Ouch. She seems OK to continue but it's time for me to depart and leave you in the eminently capable hands of Matthew Henry to see this game through to its conclusion.

Bringing up the 50 is big for Pakistan but they have a difficult catch-up game now against the India spinners.

Top shot again from Sidra Amin.

She spots the flighted delivery from Shree Charani, waits for it and clubs the ball just straight of mid-on for four.

  6. Pak 47-3published at 18 overs

    Target 248

It has been much more like it from Pakistan in terms of intent since the spinners came on.

Sidra Amin holds the key to whether they can get anywhere close to make a contest of this one, though.

Pakistan's top batter is on 19 from 46 balls and has been dropped three times. But there have just been a couple of indications that she might finally be finding her rhythm.

  7. 6 runs

    Pak 45-3published at 17.3 overs

    Target 248

It has been scratchy at best from Sidra Amin so far but this is a lovely shot.

She dances down the track to Sneh Rana and wallops the ball over cow corner for the first six of the innings.

    Such a clean connection.

Sree Charani is a tall spin option. She gets flight and dip on balls and that varying release point is a nice attribute for India.

  9. dropped catch

Amin dropped on 12published at 17 overs

    Pak 38-3

Sidra Amin is dropped for a third time!

Shree Charani - on to give Renuka Singh a long overdue break - tosses the ball up and Amin tries to thump it back down the ground.

It hangs in the air, though, and slow left-arm dives to her left, gets a hand to the ball but can't cling on.

Tough chance but Pakistan's number three is living a charmed life at the moment.

India are thinking about intentional gaps in the field. It can be easy to get some early wickets and then let the batting team just bat, but India are not making things easy for Pakistan.

  11. Pak 38-3published at 16 overs

    Target 248

    Four more.

Strong sweep from Natalia Pervaiz, behind square and the fielder at deep backward square can't get round to it in time.

A much better over for Pakistan.

  12. Pak 34-3published at 15.3 overs

    Target 248

Spin on and Natalia Pervaiz decides it is time to get a move on!

She skips down and pumps Sneh Rana back down the ground - one bounce for four.

  13. Postpublished at 16:18 BST 5 October 2025

After 15 overs, we are finally going to have a change of bowling as off-spinner Sneh Rana comes into the attack.

  14. Pak 30-3published at 15 overs

    Target 248

Is Renuka Singh going to bowl her 10 overs straight through?

She is still going strong in her eighth with a Sidra Amin punch through the covers bringing the only two runs from the over.

Pakistan need to break it down and work out what they want to aim for. Choose a number you want to reach by a certain point rather than getting bogged down with survival.

  16. Pak 28-3published at 14 overs

    Target 248

Kranti Goud is also into her seventh over. It's another good one that costs only a couple of singles.

I'm not sure what Pakistan's plan is at the moment? They're going nowhere.

Pakistan are pushing the ball around here but they need to get going. They need to keep rotating the strike.

  18. Pak 26-3published at 13 overs

    Target 248

Renuka Singh is into her seventh over on the spin and it's a maiden.

She is clearly sweltering in the very humid conditions in Colombo but it's not having an impact on her bowling.

  19. Pak 26-3published at 12 overs

    Target 248

Wicket maiden for Kranti Goud, she's taken 2-10 from her first six overs.

Time for drinks and even with 38 overs of the chase left, it is hard to see this one ending in anything other than a comfortable India win.

Kranti Goud has bowled well here but that was a nothing shot from Aliya Riaz. She hit it straight to the slip - very brainless really.

Pakistan look to be going nowhere.
