Summary

  1. Pak 99-4published at 29 overs

    Target 248

Here's that worm-assisted wicket from two overs ago.

  2. Pak 95-4published at 28 overs

    Amin 44, Sana 0

Pakistan's 23-year-old captain Fatima Sana emerges until the Colombo night. She was impressive with the ball and now will be after similar with the bat although she starts by hitting back five dot balls. A wicket maiden for seamer Goud.

Natalia Pervaiz looked to heave that ball across the line but sliced it into the air. Radha Yadav could see the ball fizzing above her - she did well to keep hold of it.

So many people talked about how Kranti Goud would be one of the best wicket-takers in this tournament.

Kranti Goud with the wicket, assisted by the worm.

Is the worm's curse a thing? Probably not. But right after it suggested Pakistan had a hope, Natalia Pervaiz slices Kranti Goud to backward point.

That's Goud's third wicket of the day. She continues to impress early in her career.

India need to break this partnership now. They want to win, but they want to win convincingly to get that net run-rate up. It can make a huge difference.

Is this partnership giving Pakistan hope?

  8. Pak 95-3published at 27 overs

Need 153 runs to win from 138 balls

I have spent the past hour or so re-reading the laws and it still doesn't seem to entirely clear up the issue we had earlier. If Muneeba Ali had been diving or running for her crease it would definitely have been not out. Because she was just wandering there's space for confusion.

  9. Pak 90-3published at 26 overs

    Target 248

Another sprawling stop on the boundary is in vain for India as the ball is parried but not prevented from going for a four. I'll say it again. It won't matter today but later in the tournament it may do.

This partnership has been much better. As their confidence has grown, they have been more aggressive.

India have given a lot of extras too which will be an interesting statistic to look at after the match.

  11. Pak 84-3published at 25 overs

Need 164 more runs to win

The crowd is not a big one but there are some youthful cheers coming through the TV coverage. Those pesky insects that caused all of the issues earlier seem to have mercilessly disappeared into the night.

  12. Pak 81-3published at 24 overs

    Target 248

I had high hopes for India before this tournament. Even in victory I may be readjusting those after today. They've been sloppy.

Sidra Ameen does well to give herself room outside the off stump - beautifully picked up. She has been batting really well after a scratchy first 20 balls or so but her run-rate is up now.

  14. Pak 75-3published at 23 overs

Need 173 to win from 27 overs

It doesn't take much for a ball to be short to diminutive right-hander Sidra Amin but this one really is from India spinner Sree Charani. Amin, who has got a hurry on in the past few cuts, goes onto the back foot to cut for four.

It must be good being short when a batter. I'm going to blame being tall for all of my faults anyway.

This is turning out to be a poor day behind the stumps for Richa Ghosh. She is not hugely dynamic or agile in that position.

  16. dropped catch

Amin dropped on 28published at 22 overs

And down goes another catch. It's wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh again. This is the third she has dropped today.

It's a tougher one - a thick edge from Sidra Amin to Deepti Sharma's off-spin - but she could have caught it and had a go on the second attempt too.

India have been slightly poor for the last six overs or so. They had a good start but have been a little bit sloppy in the field.

They need to be careful not to get too complacent.

Back-to-back boundaries for Pakistan, courtesy of Natalia Pervaiz. The first is a good shot down the ground, the second a horrible misfield on the boundary.

India will win this match but they have left plenty of room for improvement. They have dropped catches, gifted boundaries, missed reviews and churned up dot balls while batting.

Australia won't be quaking after this performance.

It is important for Pakistan to not have a brain fade in this situation. There is so much to be gained from looking a bit selfishly at the situation and trying to get a century or a partnership built.

  20. Pak 58-3published at 21 overs

    Target 248

Sidra Amin was out for a duck in the defeat by Bangladesh so you could argue any time in the middle will be welcome, even if it is taking her side to defeat. She has 26 from 54 deliveries.
