Melie Kerr was on to that in a flash!

  2. NZ 7-0published at 1.4 overs

As Ebony says, some of New Zealand's players came charging down the steps earlier when Ireland's win over West Indies was secured. Now they've got to get the win.

Melie Kerr pulls Lauren Bell's third ball for four.

You could see the New Zealand players celebrating Ireland's win in the dressing room, all jumping and hugging each other.

It has changed the feel of this game.

  4. NZ 1-0published at 1 over

New Zealand have struggled with all aspects of their game throughout this tournament and this is a tentative start. A single to long-on for Melie Kerr is the only run in the opening over.

England have cleverly stacked the off-side and left a big gap at mid-wicket to try and force Kerr to play across the line, which is very risky against Linsey Smith.

  6. NZ 0-0published at 0.4 overs

It has been an immaculate start from Linsey Smith.

England's campaign has been flawless so far. They have the opportunity to go into the semis with a perfect record.

I'm a bit surprised by Melie Kerr's decision to bat first, though.

I don't know why New Zealand are batting first. It is normally a very good surface here and it is difficult to defend a total under the lights.

  9. NZ 0-0published at 18:31 BST 27 June

Interestingly, Linsey Smith is going to take the first over with Melie Kerr on strike. Lauren Bell has opened up all tournament.

There is a green tinge to the pitch so it will be interesting to see how Lauren Bell goes with the new ball.

The anthems are done and Charlie Dean, standing in again for Nat Sciver-Brunt, skips over the boundary rope to lead her team towards the middle.

This could be the last time we read the names Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates and Lea Tahuhu on a New Zealand team sheet.

There's a big crowd here on a balmy night in south London. This is the biggest crowd England have played in front of this tournament, I reckon.

If New Zealand do lose here then today will mark the end of the international careers of three iconic players in Suzie Bates, Lea Tahuhu and Sophie Devine.

They're all retiring after this tournament.

    That Ireland result is huge.

All of a sudden, New Zealand have a lifeline. We've spoken so much about the final day tomorrow between India and Australia but this game tonight is very nicely set up now.

New Zealand may have lost to West Indies and Sri Lanka earlier in the tournament but Ireland's historic win over the Windies a little earlier has given the White Ferns a chance to sneak into the last four.

England are now guaranteed to finish top but the White Ferns will take second place if they win.

If England, West Indies will go through in second place.

England have had a lot of success batting first in this tournament but they're going to have to do things the other way today.

New Zealand have won the toss and are batting first.

    Both teams are unchanged.

England have four wins from four at this T20 World Cup and expectation is starting to build. They could have done little more to this point as they bid for a first title since 2017.

Their semi-final opponents will be confirmed by results on Sunday. Tonight is about continuing that momentum against New Zealand, who still have a chance to sneak into second place.
