  1. Injury - Gus Atkinson struck on the grillpublished at 14:02 BST 10 May

    Surrey 322-6 v Notts 415 ao

A fiery start to Josh Tongue's spell after lunch.

Gus Atkinson has been struck on the helmet twice in close succession by two sharp bouncers off Tongue, who looked concerned for Atkinson after the second bouncer.

A lengthy delay followed as Atkinson followed the necessary concussion screening protocols - which he has seemingly passed, as he is eventually allowed to continue batting.

Hopefully this is a good sign that Atkinson is okay, as those bouncers were sharp, and concussion injuries can be very serious.

WICKETpublished at 13:58 BST 10 May

    Dawson c Pepper b Cook 13 (Essex 273 v Hants 235 & 150-6)

Liam Dawson steps at this attempting a drive through mid off but gets an inside edge that Michael Pepper takes down the leg side.

Not sure that was the most sensible piece of batting given a match situation that looked absolutely in the balance.

Sam Cook is pumped as he celebrates that which suggests that was an important breakthrough.

  3. 'Advantage Somerset' in Cardiffpublished at 13:57 BST 10 May

    Glamorgan 229 v Somerset 354 & 157-9

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

It’s advantage Somerset in a grey and chilly Welsh capital as Tom Abell’s 71 not out steered the visitors to an imposing lead of 282 on a tricky surface by the time a late lunch was taken.

Resuming in the perilous position of 32-6 after Tom Norton's historic hat-trick heroics the previous evening, Somerset lost Craig Overton (15) and Migael Pretorius (6) to Timm van der Gugten's opening spell to leave them 63-8, leading by just 188 runs.

But Lewis Gregory struck a vigorous 45, including eight fours, in a stand of 64 with Abell for the ninth wicket before another fine delivery from van der Gugten clipped the captain's off-stump.

Abell farmed the bowling effectively to protect last man Jake Ball as Somerset's lead grew ominously and even an extension of eight overs in the morning session did not allow Glamorgan to end proceedings.

    Falconer c Hurst b Balderson 0 (Lancs 201 v Middlesex 64-4 - target 117)

    Caleb Falconer goes first ball!

George Balderson grabs his second as wicketkeeper Matty Hurst takes the catch again - and Middlesex nerves must be jangling now.

    Ryan Higgins next in.

WICKETpublished at 13:52 BST 10 May

    Du Plooy c Hurst b Stanley 1 (Lancs v Middlesex 63-3 - target 117)

Lancashire pick up their third wicket straight after lunch!

Leus du Plooy is the man they wanted and Mitchell Stanley gets the left-hander, coming around the wicket and getting him to feather one through to the keeper.

Debutant Caleb Falconer comes to the crease with 54 still needed.

  6. Postpublished at 13:49 BST 10 May

    Essex 273 v Hants 235 & 147-5

Big appeal from Sam Cook after rapping Ben Brown on the pads but it is turned down by umpire Martin Saggers.

Arms outstretched, Cook questions the decision a little too strongly and elicits a disgruntled reaction from the man in the white coat.

Replays would suggest Saggers not Cook was right with the ball probably going down.

Cook's reaction may not help him get a marginal call next time.

  7. Sussex go ultra-aggressive post lunchpublished at 13:46 BST 10 May

    Leics 328 ao v 43-3 & Sussex 430, Leics trail by 59

    Grace Ballinger
The Blaze and Manchester Super Giants seamer

Sussex have got off to a flying start, taking three wickets in the first 13 overs of the innings, and have looked to take more after lunch.

Henry Crocombe, who has already got the Leicestershire skipper out for just one run, charges in with four slips in play.

  8. Postpublished at 13:43 BST 10 May

    Notts 415 v Surrey 310-6

The Surrey innings has resumed after lunch and Jordan Clark is now at the crease alongside Gus Atkinson.

No official word on why Ollie Pope is yet to bat for the visitors, although the fact Surrey haven't called for an injury replacement might suggest that any issue with Pope is on the minor side.

  9. 'Sharma performance has everyone talking'published at 13:32 BST 10 May

    Lancashire 201 & 84 v Middlesex 169 & 57-2

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

Sharma produced as fine an over as you can imagine to blow away Lancashire and hand Middlesex the chance claim victory in a low scoring thriller.

It is a chance than Robson and Geddes have grabbed with both hands. On a wicket that has seen every batter struggle, the pair were calm and compared and saw off Anderson and Bailey.

Robson, however, dollied Balderson's first ball to midwicket and was in complete disbelief before dragging himself off.

Holden's nick down the leg side, to what would be the last ball before lunch, gives Lancashire further hope to resume the conveyor belt or dismissals that we have seen in the game.

As it stands, the breathtaking displace of pace and accuracy from Sharma with his late release, due to a hyper extension of the shoulder, following his effortless glide to the crease has everyone talking.

No mean feat in a game that includes the Lancashire opening pack and Stanley, plus Roland-Jones and Higgins in his own team's ranks.

  10. Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 13:31 BST 10 May

    Glamorgan 229 v Somerset 354 & 157-9

This one has ebbed and flowed through the first session of the day, but it's Somerset who will enjoy lunch more in Cardiff.

Resuming on 32-6, you wouldn't have given much hope to the visitors batting at lunch time, but that's where we are.

Tom Abell is 71 not out, and Jake Ball has defended and left his way to 0 off 21 deliveries to help give Somerset a 282-run lead.

Timm van der Gugten has claimed all three wickets to fall this morning, but Abell's resistance looks to have tipped the scales in favour of the visitors.

Dan Lawrence another given short shift by England: a series as drinks waiter to a losing team then thrown in as an opening batter. Would add to bowling options; useful fielder, and now plays for Surrey so ticking boxes for recall.

    Glamorgan 229 v Somerset 354 & 156-9

Defend, rinse, repeat for Jake Ball in the past few overs, as the Somerset tailender survives eight balls and allows Tom Abell to do the work with the bat at the other end.

Somerset's lead grows to beyond 275.

  15. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:11 BST 10 May

    Warwickshire 147 & 392-5 v Yorkshire 152

Another good session for Warwickshire who have taken the game firmly by the scruff of the neck this morning.

They have added 125 for the loss of Beau Webster (32) and Ed Barnard (60) and have a healthy lead of 387.

Their plan will be to keep building that up past 400 and then it will be up to Barnard to decide how many he wants before sending Yorkshire in.

WICKET AND LUNCHpublished at 13:10 BST 10 May

    Holden c Hurst b Stanley 9 (Lancs v Middlesex 57-2 - target 117)

A glimmer of hope for Lancashire on the stroke of lunch?

Mitchell Stanley has Max Holden caught down the leg side - and Middlesex will need another 60 when they come out for the afternoon session, which will surely be the final one of this match.

It's been an incredible game so far and you wouldn't rule out another twist.

  17. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:09 BST 10 May

    Essex 273 v Hants 235 & 127-5

Very much Essex's morning again with three more dangerous bats already packed away in the kitbags and Hants leading by just 89 runs.

Jake Lehmann was bowled by Jamie Porter, talented teenager Ben Mayes chipped one back to Simon Harmer and the spinner foxed Nick Gubbins just before lunch.

At an effective 89-5 Hants are staring down the gun barrel and need a big partnership between skipper Ben Brown (11) and Liam Dawson (1) after lunch if they are to climb back into this contest.

Harmer, who made 80 on day two, is getting significant turn on occasions which does not bode well for the visitors. But we shall see in 35 minutes what Hants have in the way of defiance.

  18. Postpublished at 13:07 BST 10 May

    Glamorgan 229 v Somserset 354 & 146-9

A sign of the cloud cover in Cardiff, as the floodlights come on at Sophia Gardens.

The hosts can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but the path is currently being blocked by Somerset's Tom Abell, who reaches 61 not out.

  19. 'Sussex are well on top'published at 13:07 BST 10 May

    Sussex 430 v Leics 328 & 38-3

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

An excellent morning for Sussex securing a fourth batting bonus point and then taking three Leicestershire wickets before lunch.

Batting isn't easy with lights on and heavy cloud cover but take nothing away from the Sussex seamers who've bowled beautifully with the new ball.

There's still a long way to go, but Sussex are well on top and provided the weather holds on course for a third win of the season

50 up for Middlesexpublished at 13:06 BST 10 May

    Lancs v Middlesex 51-1 (target 117)

Middlesex have set off as though they're in a limited overs chase.

Mitchell Stanley's first over has disappeared for 13, with Ben Geddes pulling him for six and Max Holden driving to the cover fence to bring up his team's 50.

The visitors need 66 more for victory as we approach lunch.
