    Du Plooy c Vasconcelos b Sanderson 51 (Northants v Middlesex 105-4)

Big breakthrough for the hosts just before lunch.

Just after bringing up his fifty, Leus Du Plooy pushes forward to ben sanderson but edges it through at a comfortable height to Ricardo Vasconcelos at first slip. Right into the bread basket.

    It breaks an 81-run stand.

    Ryan Higgins joins Ben Geddes.

  2. 100 runs

100 up for Hampshirepublished at 12:57 BST 17 April

    Hants 102-4 v Somerset

Just before lunch, Hampshire have 100 on the board as Jake Lehmann moves onto 26 not out.

They have, however, lost four wickets in a first session that has definitely belonged to Somerset.

  3. Postpublished at 12:56 BST 17 April

    Warks 73-5 v Essex

A rare loose ball from Shane Snater, dropping it short, and Sam Hain pounces, smacking it off the back foot to pick up a second boundary of the over.

Can the Bears survive through to lunch without further damage?

As we approach lunch this last half hour has not been as Hampshire will have wanted it to go.

Now losing Toby Albert and Ben Brown, they will hope to at least get to the break with Ben Mayes and Jake Lehmann still out there, credit to Somerset though who have bowled really well so far.

The sunshine is glorious this Friday afternoon in Southampton with a decent number of people looking on.

  5. 'Hard work for Hain'published at 12:53 BST 17 April

    Warks 69-5 Essex

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

Long conversation between Hain and Malik. Hain has done everything he can to make sure he stays in line. It's not been easy for him. Essex doing so much damage while the ball is doing plenty.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Leus Du Plooypublished at 12:53 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 101-3

Leus Du Plooy flicks Ben Sanderson through square leg for two and that brings up a superb fifty.

    That's a 43rd half-century in first-class cricket.

It's come off 64 balls and in tricky coinditions at the County Ground.

Du Plooy has played a real skipper's role this morning after his side lost three early wickets.

It also brings up the Middlesex 100 in the 24th over as the fourth-wicket rescue act moves to 81.

  7. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 12:49 BST 17 April

    Gloucs 74-1 v Lancs

Ollie Price's second boundary of the over - a nice clip off his pads into the leg side - brings up the 50 partnership.

Price and Ben Charlesworth have steadied the ship well for Gloucestershire following Cameron Bancroft's messy dismissal.

  8. 'Ogborne's mixed pitch maps'published at 12:48 BST 17 April

    Hants 96-4 Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

Ogborne not quite finding that right line of length at the moment. A little bit mixed, a little bit checkered in terms of his pitch maps.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:47 BST 17 April

    Barnard lbw b Akhter 9 (Warks 65-5 v Essex)

A first Essex wicket for Zaman Akhter!

He gets some prodigious movement to swing the ball in to Ed Barnard's front pad.

The umpire takes an age to give it, but the finger eventually goes up.

There was a hint of an inside edge.

Zen Malik is in with the Bears in big, big trouble.

  10. Postpublished at 12:46 BST 17 April

    Gloucs 70-1 v Lancs

A beautiful straight drive by Ollie Price sees him move onto 29 not out and Gloucestershire 70-1 with 15 minutes of the morning session remaining.

Shot of the day so far by Price.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:41 BST 17 April

    Brown c Overton b Gregory 0 (Hants 85-4 v Somerset)

This is excellent bowling by Somerset captain Lewis Gregory - Hampshire are four down before lunch!

It's just excellent line and length bowling.

The ball after he traps Ben Brown on the pads, Overton gets Brown to edge one to Craig Overton at second slip. Safe hands once more as Overton makes a good catch to his right side.

Captain Brown walks for a duck.

  12. Postpublished at 12:38 BST 17 April

    Hants 83-3 v Somerset

Well how has Jake Lehmann not dragged on here?

One ball after punching one on the back foot for four, the Australian looks like he plays on to his own stumps but somehow gets away with it.

Hampshire breathe a huge sigh of relief.

  13. 'Albert out a shame'published at 12:35 BST 17 April

    Hants 75-3 Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

Just as we talked him up. Number 15 has come and gone and that's a real shame for Toby Albert. Looked very good this innings. Unfortunately just that indeterminate shot outside stump. It wasn't really the ball to force through the offside. A bit flat-footed and a lovely delivery caught again by Rew.

  14. Postpublished at 12:34 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 85-3

Leus Du Plooy and Ben Geddes are rebuilding nicely here.

The visitors were in all kinds of trouble at 20-3 when Geddes came to the crease, but the pair have out on 65 for the fourth wicket and Du Plooy is six away from a fine half-century.

  15. Postpublished at 12:31 BST 17 April

    Warks 61-4 v Essex

Proud moment for Essex debutant Zaman Akhter as he comes on for his first bowl.

Ed Barnard is up on his toes to guide a short ball through the offside for his second boundary.

Then next ball he almost chops on with an attempted cut before a single from the final ball as Dale Benkenstein does the fielding.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:31 BST 17 April

    Albert c J Rew b Gregory 42 (Hants 75-3 v Somerset)

Big blow for Hampshire - Toby Albert is caught behind for 42.

He had look set but this time he doesn't use his feet and wafts at one outside off stump and James Rew takes his second simple catch of the innings behind the stumps.

Next man in for the hosts, captain Ben Brown.

  17. 50 runs

50 up for Gloucestershirepublished at 12:27 BST 17 April

    Gloucs 50-1 v Lancs

I think Gloucestershire will be pretty happy with how their opening session has gone despite that run out to Cameron Bancroft.

A couple for Ollie Price means they have brought their 50 up in the 19th over.

  18. 'Odd Webster innings'published at 12:23 BST 17 April

    Warks 52-4 Essex

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

He's come down the wicket to try and look for the offside and the bails have been whipped off by the delivery which was perfectly stump high. A real odd innings by Beau Webster comes to an end.

  19. 50 runs

50 up for Warwickshirepublished at 12:23 BST 17 April

    Warks 52-4 v Essex

Ed Barnard is a lucky boy as an inside edge flies for four.

Shane Snater so close to a second wicket of the over.

It takes the Bears past fifty in the 18th over.

The groundsmen are hovering around the hover cover.

  20. Postpublished at 12:23 BST 17 April

    Hants 70-2 v Somerset

An appeal for lbw as Jake Lehmann looks to glance one into the leg side.

Lehmann does go along way across his stumps, but around the wicket there's nothing doing for Lewis Gregory.

Lehmann and Toby Albert is a strong partnership for Hampshire. You'd expect they will want to put the foot down now.

Elsewhere, there is a ball change before Gregory's final delivery of the 20th over.
