    Warks 21-2 v Essex

After the run fest in the opening match at Edgbaston, the Bears batters are finding conditions very different this morning.

The floodlights are on in murky conditions with rain threatened in today's forecast.

Sam Cook continues to cause problems in his fourth over but Dan Mousley comes through it. Maiden.

Sam Hain gets off the mark to his 12th ball, working Jamie Porter off his pads for a single.

Porter then scents a third wicket. He thinks he's got a leading edge off Mousley and sets off down the wicket to take the catch, but it drops safe.

Bancroft (run out) 6 (Gloucs 22-1 v Lancs)

    Absolute calamity for Gloucestershire.

In the last ball of Jimmy Anderson's fifth over, Lancashire strike - but not in the manner you might expect.

Cameron Bancroft looks to nick a quick single but is rightly sent back by his partner Ben Charlesworth - there is never a run here!

Bancroft turns back and dives but is a long, long way short of his ground as Josh Bohannon fires under-armed from close range to get Lancashire's first wicket.

What a way to lose your first wicket of the day.

    Gloucs 22-0 v Lancs

James Anderson beats the outside of Ben Charlesworth's bat as he continues his spell - now in his fifth over.

Elsewhere, substitute fielder Harry Singh has replaced Ajeet Singh Dale due to the latter's injury.

We will keep you up to date if Singh Dale can return to the field.

  4. 'A beautiful delivery'published at 11:31 BST 17 April

    Hants 25-1 Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

That's a beautiful delivery. That's left-in, bounced, third slip, that's a great catch. That was going in decent knots as well. Peach of a delivery.

  5. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:30 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 12-2

A lifeline for Sam Robson on four.

Ben Sanderson again takes an outside edge with a bit of away movement but it bursts through the hands of George Bartlett at second slip.

And the Middlesex opener picks up a fortunate two.

It was traveling in fairness ti the fielder and guided between what is a narrow gap between first and second slip.

    Breakthrough for Somerset!

It's a peach from Alfie Ogborne and it's the bounce that does for Hampshire's Nick Gubbins here.

He edges one to Somerset captain Lewis Gregory at third slip who takes a really good catch high up - safe as houses.

After Hampshire's confident start, Somerset fight back.

  7. Can Ogborne be like fast bowling great Rumsey?published at 11:25 BST 17 April

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Fred Rumsey used to tell me that he used to get swing by holding the ball right in the ends of his fingers, that was the key for Fred.

    BBC Sport at Utilita Bowl

This has been a decent start by Toby Albert who has found a couple of early boundaries which have earned the applause of the Hampshire fans and members sat around us.

The Pavilion end at Utilita Bowl has a decent crowd today, we're now sat in the gorgeous sunshine after a fairly cloudy morning here in Southampton.

  9. ouch!

Postpublished at 11:23 BST 17 April

    Gloucs 8-0 v Lancs

An issue here for Lancashire's Ajeet Singh Dale.

As he goes through the motion of bowling the first ball of his third over, Singh Dale looks to have tweaked his hamstring and the Lancashire physio is on the field to attend to him.

Singh Dale eventually leaves the field of play. A sad moment for the former Gloucestershire man and Paul Coughlin will have to bowl the full over instead.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:22 BST 17 April

    Yates c Walter b Porter 8 (Warks 12-2 v Essex )

    Paul Walter makes swift amends!

Jamie Porter makes use of the swinging conditions at Edgbastion and takes the outside edge of opener Rob Yates.

Tall Paul takes an easier chance this time, arriving at third slip at waist height.

Porter has a second wicket in three overs and Sam Hain comes to the crease.

  11. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:21 BST 17 April

    Warks 12-1 v Essex

Dan Mousley gets a life on four as he gets an outside edge off Sam Cook, but Paul Walter drops it at shin height at third slip.

Cook then unleashes a big appeal for lbw next ball, but it's missing down leg.

  12. No sign of Hants strugglespublished at 11:19 BST 17 April

    Hants 21-0 Somerset

    Anthony Gibson

No sign of any great difficulty for either of those Hampshire batsmen just yet. Not much sign from our angle of swing or seam.

  13. Postpublished at 11:18 BST 17 April

    Gloucs 7-0 v Lancs

Big appeal for leg before as Cameron Bancroft is struck on the pads by one that nips back by James Anderson.

It looks to be doing a bit too much though as Bancroft had come a long way across and Gloucestershire scamper through for a leg bye.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:17 BST 17 April

    Holden c Sales b Conway 1 (Northants v Middlesex 7-2)

    Middlesex in early bother here.

The trap works again as James Sales picks up his second catch in as many overs at short leg.

Max Holden gives Harry Conway his first wicket and goes for just one.

Skipper Leus du Plooy joins opener Sam Robson.

  15. Postpublished at 11:15 BST 17 April

    Warks 12-1 v Essex

Interesting team news for the Bears who welcome back Keith Barker for his first action for the Bears in eight years!

He comes in for retired England great Chris Woakes who takes a break.

On the pitch, Rob Yates gets his boundary count up and running with a lovely drive as Jamie Porter's length strays a tad.

  16. Postpublished at 11:14 BST 17 April

    Hants 14-0 v Somerset

Back-to-back boundaries for Hampshire opener Toby Albert.

His second dismisses a loose wide delivery by Alfie Ogborne.

Early breakthrough for the hosts in just the second over.

Josh de Caires tries to turn Ben Sandersonn into the leg side but picks out James Sales at shirt leg.

It flies to the fielder who takes a good catch.

  18. Postpublished at 11:07 BST 17 April

    Hampshire are on the board.

A confident drive through the off side by Toby Albert runs away to the boundary for four runs.

  19. In form Rew to open for Somerset?published at 11:06 BST 17 April

    Hampshire v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson

James Rew - it will be interesting to see whether Somerset take the advice of the ECB and open the batting with him, I suspect not but he's been in very good form.

  20. wicket

    Davies c Pepper b Porter 0 (Warks 1-1 v Essex)

    Well that didn't take long!

Cracking start for Essex as an outswinger from Jamie Porter takes the outside edge as Alex Davies has a nibble.

He goes first ball for a duck.

Dan Mousley is in early doors.
