Back-to-back boundaries for Tom Latham off Ben Stokes brings him a Test century. It's come off 149 balls.
The first flashes over gully before he finds the boundary again by tucking one from Stokes off his pads down to fine leg.

I don't want to alarm anyone, but the last time England fielded for an entire day without taking a wicket was on this ground in 1989, when Geoff Marsh and Mark Taylor racked up 301-0 for Australia on the first day of the fifth Ashes Test.
The mercury is rising at Trent Bridge and England's bowlers look pretty cooked at the moment.
Ben Stokes is trying to lead by example with the ball as he works away searching for something outside off stump but there is no reward.

Shoaib Bashir has his hands on his head.
He holds the pace off a delivery to Tom Latham who rather fiddles at it as it turns away.
Latham has moved into the nineties now. Not-so-nervous nineties on this deck.
Ben Stokes hits Tom Latham on the inner thigh as he defends. England appeal, but it looks too high.
Latham picks up a single off the final ball of the over with a nice prod into the covers.
Latham is 87 not out while Conway is unbeaten on 89.

I wonder how long it will be until we see one of the part-time spinners like Jacob Bethell or Joe Root.

Flat pitch, hot day. If England had batted first you'd like to think we'd have prospered like the Kiwi openers have done. But if I was asked to bet on it I'd guess we would be three or four down by the same stage.
