Northants 179-6 (target 249 to beat Gloucs)

Matt Taylor is in the attack and Louis Kimber drives beautifully through long off for four.

Four more stroked between cover and extra cover. He has 22 off 18.

Nathan McSweeney has 46. 70 needed.

  2. 50 runs

    Kent 523 v Durham 225-6

There's that back-foot shot through the off-side from Kasey Aldridge again, and three runs takes him to 31 not out and brings up a 50 stand with Ben Stokes - who he has now overtaken.

  3. ouch!

Dan Hughes struck on the handpublished at 12:08 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 40-1 f/o

Craig Overton gets a delivery to rear up sharply and Dan Hughes does well to jab that down into the leg side.

He does so with the glove though and the physio is coming on.

    He will continue.

  4. 6 runs

Van der Gugten on the chargepublished at 12:07 BST 18 May

    Glamorgan 241-8 & 360 v Warwickshire 252

Timm van der Gugten has just cleanly cut Jordan Thompson for the morning's first maximum.

You would not cut too many shots for six in a regular batting innings, but this boundary is almost as short as it gets and, although third man Ethan Bamber is momentarily interested, the ball carries just out of his reach.

Northants 171-6 (target 249 to beat Gloucs)

Will Williams bowls to Nathan McSweeney...

Very leg side and a superb take from keeper James Bracey, standing up to the stumps.

It should be noted a leg gully is in place. Maiden over.

    Yorkshire v Surrey 115-8 f/o - trail by 167

    Huge appeal for Yorkshire.

This really takes off from Matthew Revis and Yorkshire are appealing for caught behind as Jonny Bairstow takes well above his shoulders.

Superb bit of bowling but not out says umpire James Middlebrook. Maiden over from Revis.

Surrey's last innings defeat, 2024, a record against any county side, Hampshire. An innings and 278 runs. Also the biggest defeat by any defending champions.

    Stephen, Hull

    It's not over yet, Stephen.

Yorkshire are giving us the reality check we fully need. No changes in plan. No changes in approach to an innings. Specialist spinner should be in every game, even if it's just to properly rotate our seam bowlers.

    Surrey Strut, Herts

  8. Postpublished at 12:03 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 39-1 f/o

Bowling change. Migael Pretorius is coming on for Alfie Ogborne at the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion End.

His first ball is round the wicket to Tom Clark, leg side and flicked fine for four.

A better line after that and Clark defends. Pretorius bowls a bit wider and Clark leaves the ball.

The final ball shoots on the ground and part evades keeper James Rew for a bye.

Double change. Craig Overton is on from the River End.

  9. dropped catch

Second dropped catch this morningpublished at 12:02 BST 18 May

    Yorkshire v Surrey 115-8 f/o - trail by 167

    A lifeline for Matthew Fisher.

And it's a second spill by Dom Bess at leg slip this morning.

A leg glance from Fisher goes sharply to Bess who can't cling on, diving to his right.

Bess will hope that doesn't cost his side too much as Matthew Revis comes into the attack for Yorkshire.

  10. Postpublished at 12:01 BST 18 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 211-6

Keith Dudgeon offers Ben Stokes a bit of width - the England skipper goes for an expansive drive and makes contact with nothing.

The next one forces him back onto his stumps and he can only defend.

    Durham still 312 behind.

    Lancs 281-8 dec v Worcs 270 & 30-0 lead by 19 runs

A good start for Worcestershire in their second innings after Lancashire decided to declare before the delayed start of the day.

They now lead following Lancashire's slender advantage at the halfway stage.

A lovely punch down the ground from Dan Lategan sees him move onto 14 not out while Jake Libby is 12 not out.

  12. Postpublished at 11:58 BST 18 May

Northants 167-6 (target 249 to beat Gloucs)

A bright start for Louis Kimber, who throws caution to the wind somewhat to strike three fours off Craig Miles.

He pulls in front of square, goes back to cut through mid off and hooks a little riskily to deep square leg. The ball lands safely. Just.

He's now 14 not out off 10 balls.

    Derbys 0-0 - target 122

On the face of it, this should be straightforward for Derbyshire.

A couple of early wickets for Middlesex, though, could provide a twist in the plot of this match.

Harry Came and Luis Reece open up for the visitors.

    Crane c Davies b Thompson 0 (Glamorgan 235-8 & 360 v Warwickshire 252)

    Alex Davies, take a bow.

Jordan Thompson has two wickets this morning since coming into the attack for Warwickshire. Mason Crane departs without troubling the scorers - and it is an excellent, one-handed catch by keeper Davies away to his right.

Glamorgan's lead is now 343 and they have two wickets in hand.

  15. Postpublished at 11:55 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 32-1 f/o

A swing and a miss from Tom Clark to a wide ball outside off stump, facing Alfie Ogborne.

A very loose attempted cut and this is a tough watch for Sussex fans.

  16. Postpublished at 11:54 BST 18 May

    Yorkshire v Surrey 109-8 f/o - trail by 173

First runs for a while as Sean Abbott paddles one into the off side to get down the other end with the final ball of the over.

Jhye Richardson continues from the Kirkstall end. Abbott then hooks to the vacant square leg boundary for four.

  17. Postpublished at 11:52 BST 18 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 204-6

Durham's 200 arrives as Kasey Aldridge stands tall and punches Matt Milnes off the back foot for four.

Ben Stokes is still looking for his first boundary off the day - no Bazball hubris in his 22 not out off 50 balls.

    Conway LBW b Williams 5 (Northants 154-6 - target 249)

Harry Conway plays Will Williams across the pad and misses.

    Out. Very out indeed.

Here comes Louis Kimber - who replaces Saif Zaib in this match after the latter picked up a concussion injury during a warm up this weekend.

A reminder that Gloucestershire's bowler Gabe Bell is also out injured. A blow for the hosts given his fine form this season.

    Poor shot in the circumstances."

    Yorkshire v Surrey 104-8 f/o - trail by 178

Another good delivery from Jhye Richardson which misses the outside edge of Matthew Fisher.

Fisher is behind the next ball, defending into the off side for no run.

Another maiden over. Really tight and consistent bowling from the home side.
