  1. Glamorgan 'underperformed' at Hove - Dawsonpublished at 13:37 BST 15 June

Glamorgan head coach Richard Dawson says failure to build partnerships cost his side dear in their three-day defeat by Sussex at Hove on Sunday.

They were bowled out for only 155 in their first innings and despite performing better second time around, with Asa Tribe and Ben Kellaway scoring half-centuries, they lost by an innings and 98 runs.

"We’ve underperformed. When we’ve won games this season we’ve put together big partnerships and did it consistently - but we haven’t done that this week," Dawson said.

“The toss was important. It was tricky on the first day. But Sussex have a good attack for all conditions. Two good spinners. Good seam bowlers, left arm right arm. They’re a good side. We knew it was going to be a challenge, and it was.”

Glamorgan are at home to Surrey in their next Division One game, starting on Friday.

  3. Somerset closing on 'notable victory'published at 13:33 BST 15 June

Somerset have taken five of the seven wickets that they needed at the start of play to seal what would be a notable victory, given their injury-weakened resources and the fact of playing the reigning County Champions on their home turf.

Jake Ball set the tone early on by ripping out Joe Clarke's off-stump, before Craig Overton had first Haseeb Hameed and then Lyndon James brilliantly caught behind by Thomas Rew, deputising for his brother, and who is having a match to remember.

A dogged partnership between Fergus O'Neil and Dillon Pennington has denied Somerset a pre-lunch win, but it would be surprising if the end is long delayed this afternoon.

    That is Leicestershire's innings concluded.

Lewis Hill, who hoisted Matt Critchley to the long on boundary for four a ball earlier, is then clean bowled when looking to repeat the feat.

Hill is invited to lead the sides from the field - he has played a terrific hand to set up an intriguing afternoon.

They will now take lunch at Grace Road - Essex will require 215 when they commence the chase.

  7. Kent delighted by Mahmud debut displaypublished at 13:23 BST 15 June

Kent skipper Daniel Bell-Drummond hailed a "world-class" display from Hasan Mahmud after the Bangladesh paceman marked his debut with 6-69 as they beat Lancashire on day three at Blackpool's Stanley Park.

Mahmud was signed last week on a six-game deal and had career-best match figures of 9-101 as they won by 140 runs.

"Keith Dudgeon was excellent in the first innings [6-21] but he was backed up by the other quick bowlers and then Hasan put on a world-class performance today," said Bell-Drummond.

“Whenever a partnership was building Hasan came back and got to work, showing great skill and swinging it both ways.

"He bowled with good skill and pace all game so I’m looking forward to the next game against Middlesex at home."

  8. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:17 BST 15 June

    Notts 138-8 v Somerset - target 473

It is probably more a matter of when not if for Somerset as we head to lunch at Trent Bridge.

The visitors have rattled off five wickets in the morning session for 91 runs to close in on what would be a memorable victory.

Notts still require a mammoth 335 runs to win - or need to bat for the remainder of the day. Seems like one heck of a longshot.

Somerset will want to get this done as soon as possible after lunch to inflict a first County Championship defeat on Notts since May 2025 - and a first home loss for just over two years.

    There was the chance!

Dillon Pennington tries to drive from Jack Leach and edges to Craig Overton at slip.

It's low to Overton's left and it's not an easy chance but he is furious with himself as it evades his fingertips, slamming his cap into the ground in frustration.

Lewis Hill has just sent Charlie Bennett to the rope twice in successive strokes. He moves onto 122. The partnership with Alex Green, who has yet to score himself, is now 18.

This has up to now been a showcase in batting with the tail by Hill. Leicestershire's lead is now 209.

    Yorkshire 469 & 246-6 dec v Warwickshire 263 & 139-4 - lunch

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Saving a game by needing to bat through the last day is not, as plenty of players and coaches will tell you, just a case of trying to block every ball back to the bowler.

There can be danger in going too defensive and drawing too much pressure from fielders surrounding the bat.

That being said, it was an unfortunate look for Warwickshire to lose all three wickets this morning to attacking strokes.

George Hill continued a strong all-round match by dismissing Alex Davies and Dan Mousley in an odd over. Davies drove firmly back at Hill, who stuck out his right hand for an instinctive catch.

He walked off slowly, and Mousley slower still after driving his second, third and fourth balls to the boundary, and driving the fifth off the edge to second slip.

Ethan Bamber, who has form as a nightwatcher, battled hard for an hour before deciding to take on a Hassan Ali bumper. Whirling a hook off his eyebrows, he might have sensed it was flying for six. Jack White at long leg seemed to think the same, but adjusted his feet to claim the catch with just enough room to fall back without fouling the rope.

Sam Hain and Beau Webster hit a six each but saw it safely to lunch, Webster surviving one very sharp chance.

    Worcs 265 & 127-3 v Middx 339 & 283-6

Worcestershire, led by Ben Allison, have changed the nature of this game making a home victory look a real possibility.

Allison has played a series of positive shots on his way to a career best 81 not out, hitting two sixes in one over. He's making Middlesex regret having him dropped at slip.

There's been some lusty appealing from Middlesex but they've only had one accepted, Gareth Roderick falling lbw to Eathan Bosch.

Worcestershire need 227 to win, Middlesex need seven wickets.

Play has been extended this morning session at Leicestershire, with the hosts nine wickets down.

Lewis Hill has just lifted Matt Critchley back over his head for a well executed four - he is now 113 not out.

The towering tail-ender Alex Green, at the other end, is yet to score from his eight balls faced, but his role clearly is to ensure that Hill is on strike long enough to continue adding to the total.

    Northamptonshire 465 v Gloucestershire 268 & 306-8

James Bracey ducks under Luke Procter's final delivery and goes into lunch on 95 not out after an 11-over mini-session at Wantage Road.

The start was delayed for 75 minutes because of rain and Gloucestershire have added 42 to their score since then for the loss of Daz Ahmed - who fell lbw to Harry Conway.

The visitors lead by 109 with two sessions left in the game.

  20. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 13:02 BST 15 June

    Warks 263 & 139-4 v Yorks 469 & 246-6 dec

It's been a pretty good morning for Yorkshire. George Hill dismissed Alex Davies and Dan Mousley with the first and last deliveries of one over.

A brilliant boundary catch from Jack White allowed Hassan Ali to add the wicket of Ethan Bamber.

They would have liked more and Sam Hain has led the Warwickshire resistance. He's dug in well and his partnership with Beau Webster saw off the last 13 overs of the session.

Warwickshire's aim is to bat out the draw. Yorkshire will remain confident of claiming the six more wickets they need.
