Essex 15-0 v Leicestershire (Essex need 200 more runs to win)

Josh Davey thinks he has a decent shout for lbw against Paul Walter, but it looks as though the batter got out of the line in time.

It is a quick start made by Essex. Dean Elgar has already driven straight for four runs on two occasions, while Paul Walter has also claimed a boundary.

Poor decision by Bairstow to bat again yesterday. Not sure why you wouldn't enforce the follow on - a nailed on victory is now looking like a draw. Big missed opportunity

    Allison b Gohar 89 (Worcs 265 & 154-5 v Middx 339 & 283-6)

This is a great start to the session for Middlesex.

Ben Allison goes for a career best score. He tries to play a dabbed sweep shot off Zafar Gohar but misses and is bowled around his pads.

Henry Cullen now comes in on a pair on first-class debut

    Pennington c Goldsworthy b Overton 15 (Notts 152-9 v Somerset - target 473)

    Somerset are almost there.

Dillon Pennington flashes one through backward point from Craig Overton but Lewis Goldsworthy is there to take a fine catch low down.

Mohammad Ali is in at 11 for Notts, who will almost certainly now be preparing for a first defeat in the County Championship since May 2025.

    Northants 465 v Glos 268 & 324-8

He's earned the right to play a shot like that, but it wasn't a great one.

James Bracey flails at a wide one from Luke Procter and is fortunate not to get a nick.

    He remains 103 not out.

150 up for Nottspublished at 14:09 BST 15 June

    Notts 152-8 v Somerset - target 473

Lovely shot from Fergus O'Neill to smash through the covers for four from Jake Ball.

    O'Neill can certainly bat.

It may be no more than a nominal milestone for Notts but they reach 150 runs in their second innings.

  8. Underway at Grace Roadpublished at 14:08 BST 15 June

Essex 2-0 v Leicestershire (Essex need 213 more runs to win)

The chase is on at Grace Road. Essex plunder two runs from Josh Davey's first over and both openers Paul Walter and Dean Elgar are off the mark.

Lewis Hill's faced nearly 300 balls to reach his hundred, in an innings lasting over seven hours

Lewis Hill was incredibly emotional at scoring his 10th first class century. Weirdly, it never felt like he was in good nick throughout - it wasn't an innings of fluent timing, but pure guts.

It is probably the best knock of his career, because it has given Leicestershire hope of a victory that seemed impossible at the end of day two.

He batted really well with the tail, with vital partnerships with Tom Scriven, Josh Davey and Alex Green, who was nought not out off 22 balls.

It will mean so much to him as a Leicestershire boy, his first century in Division One, when, to be blunt, there were questions about how he would fare with the step up in level. Those have been silenced now.

Essex now have a very tough chase. In theory, 214 in 59 overs is very doable, but after 200 overs in the field, they will feel zapped of energy and momentum. Leicestershire have their tails up, and might fancy their chances of a first win of the season.

Essex though will go top of the tree if they win - which is motivation in itself.

    Notts 147-8 v Somerset - target 473

Just the one run to Fergus O'Neill from Jake Ball's over.

Another 59 overs, at least, for Notts to survive.

Two more wickets needed for Somerset. Certainly no need to panic yet.

    Worcs 265 & 143-4 v Middx 339 & 283-6

Close! Well though Ben Allison is playing, he's mistimed a couple of shots in air.

This one, off Sebastian Morgan's bowling, narrowly evades Sam Robson at mid wicket

    Notts 146-8 v Somerset - target 473

Dillon Pennington picks up a couple of boundaries from the Craig Overton over.

The first, an inside edge down to fine leg. The second, much more convincing from Pennington as he drives through the covers for four.

Pennington moves onto 15. Fergus O'Neill is on 39 at the other end

Craig Overton is bowling the first over after lunch.
