Brydon Carse did not quite get there. It was a good effort though - would have been a sensational catch.

  3. Aus 215-2published at 49.1 overs

OHHHHHH! How many lives does Travis Head have?

He sprays a loose shot towards third and although a diving Brydon Carse manages to get a hand to it, he can't cling on.

  4. Aus 214-2published at 49 overs

The TV cameras are alternating between replays of that dropped catch and picking out a forlorn-looking Will Jacks in the field. The drop gets worse with each viewing.

Michael Neser brings up the 50 partnership off 110 balls, dispatching Brydon Carse through point for four. The nightwatchman is rumbling into life.

  5. Aus 209-2published at 48 overs

Michael Neser moves into double figures with a mis-timed pull for four off Matthew Potts.

    Another drop. Utterly, utterly embarrassing.

Another dropped catch. Another lost wicket. Another lost series

    Bert, Windsor Castle

Wow!!! Howler of a drop. Out batted, bowled and fielded all series. Not good enough at the basics.

The more I watch this team, the more frustrated I get. They are creating their chances but then they are not taking them.

  8. Aus 204-2published at 47 overs

I seem to recall Ben Duckett's drop on day two being England's 13th of the series, so that is number 14. Penny for the thoughts of their fielding coach.

That is so bad. So bad. That sums up England these past few days.

It went straight to Will Jacks.

What a miss out there by Will Jacks! Maybe he was distracted by the boundary.

  11. dropped catch

Head dropped on 121published at 46.3 overs

Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear.

Travis Head doesn't quite have the length on his skied pull shot and Will Jacks settles underneath it on the boundary. Two hands above his head... and the ball bounces out.

    Australia take a single.

Potts could try something radical. Bowl at the stumps.

    Stuart Rushworth, Oxfordshire

Might as well give Harry Brook the ball and hope he bowls like Marnus yesterday.

Joe, desperate to see England do well

It's not Ben Stokes' fault he can’t rely on his other bowlers. Simply not good enough and the Aussies are taking advantage

    Bill, near Doncaster

  13. Aus 202-2published at 46 overs

Travis Head shows some mercy and settles for a single off the first ball of Matthew Potts' second over of the day.

Michael Neser also bags one to move onto a pleasing 5 (55).

I am not sure about the deep third fielder. You are not supposed to be protecting your bad balls with that boundary.

The field has to change for me - the slips need to come back into play.

Ironically it looks like Travis Head is showing the England players how Bazball is to be executed!

  17. Aus 200-2published at 45 overs

Ben Stokes bowls a maiden to Michael Neser, who has 4 (52).

Which bowler will Stokes sacrifice to Travis Head next?

Well, for the time being, he's sticking with Matthew Potts, who has 0-72 from eight.

May as well put our spinners on here. If Potts bowls for much longer, it's game over.

    James P, East Sussex

  19. Aus 200-2published at 44 overs

The second half of the over is better from Matthew Potts - two dot balls (the first receiving hearty cheers) either side of a two to bring up Australia's 200.

    14 from it.

This is lousy net bowling at the moment. Matthew Potts has bowled two pork pies.
