We've seen on Indian pitches, the batters who hit down the ground have been the most successful.

Jones is playing proper cricket shots at the moment. When he plays classical shots through the off side he looks good, but he can look quite ugly when playing through the leg side.

  3. Sco 46-0published at 5 overs

Michael Jones looks in magnificent touch.

He waits until the very last second and runs the ball past short third for four more.

A thick outside edges then flies away to the fence.

If Scotland win two games, they will see that as a good return from a tournament they didn't expect to play at.

A slightly more serene end to the over, but Scotland will be delighted with this start on a pitch that we expect to offer a bit of help to the bowlers.

  6. Sco 33-0published at 3.2 overs

    Shot!

Nandan Yadav is into the attack, but Michael Jones stands up tall and punches through the covers for four more.

It's a carbon copy from the next delivery as another boundary follows. Jones has 22 from 12 balls.

Airee needs to take the pace off - he is bowling too full and too quick. Length is important in the first six overs... you can't allow the batter to get elevation.

    Sco 25-0published at 3 overs

Michael Jones gets a bit of width and flays Dipendra Singh Airee's flat off-spin over the off side for four.

Airee then gets too full and Jones belts the first six of the day down the ground.

    A very productive over.

You can't go out there with the mindset of needing 200 on this surface. Give youself time and assess the conditions. I wouldn't be surprised if both batters went big now.

  10. Sco 14-0published at 2 overs

A risky single to mid-off from Michael Jones, which isn't the best idea against this Nepal fielding unit. Fortunately for the Lancashire man, the shy at the stumps misses.

George Munsey then slashes over the top of cover for four.

Eight off Sompal Kami's first over.

  11. Sco 6-0published at 1 over

George Munsey and Michael Jones trade singles, before Munsey gets down on one knee and sweeps behind square for four.

Dipendra Singh Airee comes back well and finishes the over with a couple of dots.

    Scotland v Nepal (13:30)

Scotland do have a victory on the board, having beaten Italy convincingly either side of losses against West Indies and England.

They are already out of the tournament and will likely look back with regret on two batting collapses in those defeats when they were firmly in the contest.

Still, Richie Berrington's side know this Nepal side well and will want to finish with a flourish.

    Scotland v Nepal (13:30)

I watched a Nepal game in Glasgow last summer where they went down in a thriller against the Netherlands after three Super Overs.

That is a fairly good place to start if you want to understand the type of cricket they play.

Nicknamed the 'Cardiac Kids', Nepal have brought energy to this World Cup both on and off the field, running England close in their opening match before further defeats by West Indies and Italy.
