I think that wicket puts Scotland in a better position to win this game. Nepal have got the massive pressure of trying to win that first World Cup game now.

    Sheikh c Wheal b Leask 33 (Nep 87-2)

Nepal lose both openers now and it's a massive wicket for Scotland.

A big top‑edge from Aasif Shief and Brad Wheal at backward point keeps his nerve and snatches it to dismiss the set better.

That's a nothing shot, you have to commit to the shot and hit the ball down the ground rather than trying to be clever and cute. You're better off using your feet to hit over the bowler's head.

  6. Nep 84-1published at 11.1 overs

    Target 171

Michael Leask manages to bowl through Rohit Paudel and hits the Nepal captain's pads.

It's a huge appeal from the Scotland bowler but the umpire is not interested.

  7. Nep 84-1published at 11 overs

    Target 171

Mark Watt has given away just six runs in his latest over.

A good comeback after conceding 23 in an over earlier in the innings.

  8. Nep 78-1published at 10 overs

    Target 171

Halfway through this innings and this game is nicely poised.

Nepal have been handed a good platform by their openers but Scotland are just starting to rein things back in.

  9. dropped catch

Paudel dropped on 0published at 9.2 overs

    Target 171

Is that another drop by Scotland wicketkeeper Matthew Cross?

Michael Leask bowls down the leg side and new batter Rohit Paudel gets an edge, but Cross can't hold on despite getting his gloves on it - difficult chance but it's always the fine margins in T20 cricket.

He played the shot too early. It was there to be hit but he got a bottom edge. Scotland have managed to pull it back a bit.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.1 overs

    Bhurtel c Bruce b Leask 43 (Nep 74-1)

Michael Leask is brought into the attack and makes an instant impact - it's just what Scotland needed!

Kushal Bhurtel has played incredibly well today but he miscues his sweep here and Tom Bruce has to race back to complete a good catch.

Can Scotland build on this now?

  12. Nep 74-0published at 9 overs

    Target 171

Scotland are starting to apply a bit of pressure back on Nepal now.

Olly Davidson keeps things extremely tight, giving away just two runs in his latest over.

I think more and more of the top tier countries need to go and tour places like Nepal, even if they send B teams. It would allow them to develop their players quicker and help generate revenue.

Nepal's cricket fans are just brilliant! Imagine if the big countries were to tour Kathmandu.

  15. Nep 72-0published at 8 overs

    Target 171

Brad Wheal with a decent over for Scotland, except for that one ball which disappeared for six.

But there wasn't much he could’ve done about that - it was just brilliant batting from Kushal Bhurtel, who is now only eight runs short of his fifty.

  16. 6 runs

    Nep 70-0published at 7.3 overs

    Target 171

    Kushal Bhurtel goes big again!

He sends it soaring over deep backward square and the Nepal fans are loving t!

I'd describe Olly Davidson's wave of his hand there like when your dog jumps on an important Zoom call at work and you're trying to shoo them away.

Olly Davison loads up like a right-arm off-spinner and at the last minute he almost changes his shoulders around. He tries the odd trick to put the batter off, too. He just waved his hand away from his body. He reminds me of Darren Gough, who would try things like sticking his tongue out.

  19. Nep 63-0published at 7 overs

    Target 171

Left-arm spinner Olly Davidson is into the attack for Scotland, who will be desperate to break this Nepal opening stand.

But the Nepal batters negotiate the over with relative ease, collecting seven runs. You feel they've got the momentum firmly on their side at the moment.
