India's progress might appear a little slow here but we saw Zimbabwe squeeze out Australia the other day - on this very ground no less - with a slightly cautious approach to batting in the first innings.

Zimbabwe finished two wickets down then applied scoreboard pressure.

Pakistan have done a decent job of pulling India back in the past five overs, conceding just 36 runs.

The five overs before that went for 59.

Mohammad Nawaz pinches his brow with his thumb and forefinger.

He's bowled a tight-ish over only for some village cricket fielding from Shadab Khan on the boundary, who allows the ball to slip through his fingers down at deep square from a Suryakumar Yadav sweep.

  4. Ind 118-2published at 13 overs

I was looking up highest scores at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo when Ishan Kishan was going ballistic earlier, but India have slowed up quite a bit here.

It's Bangladesh 215-5 against Sri Lanka in March 2018, incidentally.

  5. Ind 113-2published at 12.3 overs

Usman Tariq continues. Here's the two wickets that Pakistan have taken today.

That is quite unlucky for Pakistan, it's quite a chunky umpire's call but you can see why it wasn't given out.

Clipping leg stump but umpire's call.

    Suryakumar Yadav survives.

    No bat involved.

  9. Pakistan reviewpublished at 12 overs

Suryakumar Yadav sweeps but is hit on the pad by Mohammad Nawaz.

A big big appeal from both Nawaz and Usman Khan behind the stumps.

Turned down on the field. Pakistan want to take it upstairs.

Mohammad Nawaz purses his lips after watching Tilak Varma gracefully strike him over the cover boundary for six. Delicious shot.

  11. Ind 98-2published at 11 overs

Usman Tariq now into the attack.

He's been the subject of some fake news, fake press releases and fake tweets over the past week in relation to his action.

If if you have not seen it before Tariq has a kind of stop before delivering. Some of you of a certain vintage will remember Robert Croft used to bowl the odd delivery in this manner.

Suryakumar Yadav dispatches his first ball for four but it's otherwise a tight over.

  12. Ind 92-2published at 10 overs

A spin-a-thon from Pakistan as Mohammad Nawaz's left-arm tweakers are summoned by Salman Agha.

The second-tightest over off the innings with just three runs off it.

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav is the new batter following the dismissal of Ishan Kishan.

  13. Ind 89-2published at 9 overs

Ishan Kishan finished with 77 of 40 balls. A handy knock to get India off to a flyer in Colombo.

Can Pakistan start to peg back their opponents, now?

What an unbelievable innings from Ishan Kishan that put Pakistan on the back foot.

It creates an opening for Pakistan and a moment of respite from this relentless attack.

    Kishan b Ayub 77 (Ind 88-20

Whenever Pakistan's spinners have bowled straight to Ishan Kishan they've been punished, but when it's been a little wider he's not been quite so effective.

Kishan switches his stance and reverse pulls Saim Ayub for a one-bounce four.

However, his innings is brought to an end by the Pakistan spinner a couple of balls later. Kishan backs away attempting to give himself some room to slap it through point but the ball sticks in the pitch and spins on to dislodge the bail near leg stump.

There's only been one over of seam and that went for 15. I just don't know when Shaheen Shah Afridi will come back into the attack because he's not been bowling well.

Ishan Kishan is receiving some treatment on the field.

I'm not surprised if he's pulled something given he's thrown the kitchen sink at a few deliveries today.

I think Pakistan thought they could dominate Ishan Kishan in the powerplay because his strike-rate against spin is weak. Kishan has played this really well.

    Ind 82-1published at 8 overs

Ishan Kishan is looking to take it to Pakistan's bowlers and not let them settle when they come into the attack.

Shadab Khan's second ball disappears over the boundary rope - narrowly missing the big screen - after a slog over mid-wicket.

Kishan follows it up with a sweeps over fine leg for another four next ball.

    India are motoring here.

India are just marching on at the moment. It's been a bit of an exhibition for Ishan Kishan.

He goes under the radar a bit in a team full of stars but Ishan Kishan is just reminding everyone how talented he is.
