    Of the six times Joe Root has been dismissed lbw this summer, four of them have been with the keeper up.

    This was the problem for Pakistan at Headingley.

    Muhammad Abbas was always the threat, just bowling good maidens, or a good set of six.

    But the release was at the other end, and it is the same today.

    Muhammad Abbas has not got it right to Harry Brook.

    Brook does this to bowlers.

    They are so threatened by him that they go chasing him.

    Muhammad Abbas continues, with the 36-year-old bowling his eighth over on the trot.

    Harry Brook guides him away neatly through backward point for four, and then sees two more byes slip down the leg side as he finds himself a little off balance.

    Abbas does draw an edge from Brook later in the over, but it drops well short of the slip cordon.

    With that dismissal today, Joe Root now averages 20.3 (four dismissals) v pace bowlers in Tests this year with the keeper up to the stumps compared to a significantly higher 57.6 average (three dismissals) with the keeper back.

    When Joe Root was batting out of the crease against Muhammad Abbas at the start of the innings today, his average interception point was 2.76m when the keeper was back, reducing to 1.83m when the keeper was brought up to the stumps - a difference of 93cm there.

    That really squared Jordan Cox up. That might have been gobbled up by fourth slip.

    Having returned to the strike, the England number three tries to turn Muhammad Abbas into the leg side but offers a leading edge that flies through the fourth slip position for four.

    Abbas isn't happy, the fielder had just been moved to leg slip from fourth, and he is immediately returned there after that chance.
