It'll be Duckett who will face the first ball of the day, bowled by Muhammad Abbas from the Nursery End.

This is what Pakistan wanted, to win the toss and bowl first. Conditions are ideal.

Catching was a bit off at Headingley, so they have got to catch everything in terms of edges and make sure you put England under pressure.

The hosts are unchanged from the first Test victory at Headingley, while for Pakistan captain Babar Azam returns for Salman Ali Agha, who deputised for him at Leeds.

England captain Joe Root: "We would've bowled first too, but saying that it looks a very different pitch to the last time we played here. So it's a big opportunity to get some runs on the board and we'll assess the situation to find a way through and put a score on the board.

"We've got the same team.

"The all-round nature was most pleasing [at Headingley], the way we were so calm and the ability we had to recognise those moments. It wasn't absolutely perfect but it was a great blueprint and more of the same this week would be outstanding.

"Our full focus since speaking at the start of this week has been preparing for this Test match."

Pakistan captain Babar Azam:"We will bowl first because of the conditions. The pitch has grass on it."

On the first Test: "Yes, we are not up to the mark in the batting.

"Discussed other mistakes. I came back here and discussed them things. Trying to do our best in this match."

On returning from injury: "Now, I am 100%. That's why I am here. Good to go.

"Always an honour for us to play at Lord's, especially for me as a captain."

We've had a toss!

Returning Pakistan captain Babar Azam has won it and unsurprisingly his side are going to have a bowl under grey skies at Lord's.

It looks a decent pitch, but I don't think it will have too much pace.

There will be a bit of movement, and batsmen techniques are going to be challenged.

For Pakistan, I think this is their chance if they win the toss.

One of Pakistan's biggest challenges in the first Test at Headingley was their inability to handle the prodigious seam movement off the pitch from the English pace bowlers.

Facing deliveries we consider as large seam movement (moving more than 0.75° off the pitch), Pakistan scored 74-10 at an average of 7.4, a dismissal once in every 21 such deliveries.

Pakistan’s challenge is only going to get tougher on a Lord’s pitch that’s produced a lot of seam movement in recent times. In Tests since the start of 2024, pace bowlers at Lord’s on average have found 0.64° seam movement - the highest of all venues in England, with 35% of thee deliveries moving more than 0.75°.

Pakistan need a miracle, but there are a couple of good reference points.

They have beaten England twice now in the last two meetings here at Lord's.

The stocks are not great right now in Test cricket.

Babar Azam, a regular leader, leading them. That may get them cracking, his own form is going to be critical to the cause.

During the 1992 World Cup, for example, Imran [Khan] was teetotal as well.

The Australia dugout would have 15 jars of beer. Whereas we would have 15 jars of milk.

If this incident [with Brydon Carse] happened three or four months ago under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Baz McCullum you would argue it would have been dealt with differently.

He is now under the leadership of Joe Root and Stephen Fleming, and they will not stand for it.

The proof will be in the pudding, and they will have to start policing themselves.
