About to have my wisdom teeth pulled out (it's 1:30pm here in the South Pacific), and am very much hoping England can give me a few days of joy as I recover on the sofa!

    Peter, Vanuatu

Currently in Vietnam on honeymoon and on a tour of the Mekong Delta and Cu Chi Tunnels. Fascinating history I’m sure, not that I’m listening to any of it currently. Trying to convince my wife she’d be fine if I popped to Melbourne for a day.

Bar the Brook drop, England's fielding has been much sharper today. There have been a number of smart stops in the covers.

Interestingly, Ben Duckett has not been in the cordon after dropping two in Brisbane. He's been out at long leg, which is an unusual place to see him.

  3. Aus 104-4published at 27 overs

Four runs off Jofra Archer's second over after lunch.

Meanwhile the TV replays have just shown Harry Brook doing a cartwheel, to the delight of Joe Root.

When your captain comes out and Ben Stokes has been vocal in the media and said, "No room for weak men."

It would make you step up as a team because you don't want your captain speaking about you like that again.

This is a flat highway of a pitch and they’ve just gifted us four wickets. I’ve hardly seen a play and miss all day, so to be in this position is ridiculously good.

Two weak shots, but Jofra Archer has caused found something in this pitch - he's averaged 0.7 degrees of movement, the highest for any of England's four quicks.

  7. Aus 100-4published at 26 overs

Josh Tongue takes the ball at the other end, starting with four dot balls to Usman Khawaja.

The Australia number four knocks into the leg side to get off strike, before Alex Carey's cut is blocked at point - the resulting single brings up the home side's hundred off 156 deliveries.

    Funny game this cricket.

  10. Aus 98-4published at 25 overs

Out comes Alex Carey with his side reeling after lunch.

The Australia wicketkeeper immediately gets into his groove, dispatching a short and wide delivery from Jofra Archer to the cover boundary for four.

He made 63 in his one innings in Brisbane and will be eyeing another good score on his home ground.

What is happening? Two soft dismissals in the over. England cannot believe it. Another soft dismissal. Cameron Green might be the richest man in Australia, but he will be cursing himself walking off there.

I barely finished doing my notes for the previous wicket!

    It's two in three deliveries!

Cameron Green, who became the most expensive overseas player in IPL history on Tuesday, clips his second ball off his legs, sending it to the right of Brydon Carse at mid-wicket.

The England seamer pulls off the catch on the dive, and now two Australians have delivered Archer balls into the hands of the Durham seamer in the opening over of the afternoon session.

I honestly cannot believe what we have just seen.

Marnus Labuschagne had dug in before lunch. Everybody knows Jofra Archer's first over is his warm-up over.

Labuschagne lobs it to Brydon Carse. That is the softest dismissal we have seen in this series so far.

He has gifted England a wicket.

    Utterly shocking.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24.1 overs

    Labuschagne c Carse b Archer 19 (Aus 94-3)

... and he's taken a wicket with it immediately!

Dreadful, dreadful stuff from Marnus Labuschagne, who pulls a loose opening half-tracker from Jofra Archer straight to Brydon Carse at mid-wicket.

I'm not sure he can quite believe what he's done.

Time to get back out there.

Jofra Archer has the ball in hand...

Usman Khawaja has struck 41 from 55 deliveries, having returned to the Australia line-up at the last minute after Steve Smith's withdrawal.

It's been an enterprising innings, featuring six fours, but his day could have gone in another direction.

He was dropped by Harry Brook at slip while on five.

At the risk of being harsh Jacks looks unlikely to either take wickets or maintain any control - if i was an Aussie batter I'd be loving this depleted bowling line up!

Let's take a look back at the two wickets England took in that session.

They came within six balls of each other, with Jake Weatherald gloved behind off Brydon Carse before Zak Crawley spectacularly caught Travis Head from the first delivery of Jofra Archer's over.

That saw Australia go from 33-0 to 33-2, but since then Marnus Labuschagne (19) and Usman Khawaja (41) have put on 61 in just under 15 overs.
