Josh Tongue has been a bit wayward just after lunch. Too easy to flick down to fine leg for Usman Khawaja. England have got their field wrong at the minute.

What has been criticised of this England side is these situations. Own this situation up till tea.

  2. Aus 142-4published at 35 overs

Consecutive fours for Usman Khawaja at the start of Josh Tongue's over, sending the ball through fine leg then cutting past backward point.

No runs off the rest of the over, but, with boundaries coming on either side of the wicket, Josh Tongue is looking a little wayward.

  3. Aus 134-4published at 34 overs

Five runs off the rest of Brydon Carse's over, with the Durham seamer sending his fifth no ball from eight overs.

This partnership is now worth 40.

Khawaja has paced this so well. A couple wickets have fallen and he’s dropped the anchor. England could take some notes…

Usman Khawaja has got his head down and he has played alright. He has come out of his shell a bit and he has looked pretty comfortable since the dropped catch.

A half-century on his return to the side!

Many would have assumed that Usman Khawaja was done and dusted in Test cricket after he was dropped for the Brisbane Test.

Not so - on the eve of his 39th birthday he picks up his 28th Test fifty, a single into the covers off Brydon Carse bringing up the landmark off 81 deliveries.

  7. Aus 128-4published at 33 overs

Jofra Archer's post-lunch spell comes to an end after four overs, with Josh Tongue switching ends to replace him.

Alex Carey picks up a third four through the covers off Tongue's opening delivery, punching off the back foot, then adds another boundary cutting behind square.

12 off Tongue's first six balls of this spell, having conceded 19 off his first seven overs today.

Alex Carey is a tricky customer. He loves that little uppercut shot.

He is having a good summer. He looks to have improved a lot with the bat. It looks like he has worked on his game and you almost put him down for a 50 now.

  10. Aus 116-4published at 32 overs

Four for Alex Carey off the first ball of Brydon Carse's over, driving confidently to the cover boundary.

Ben Stokes gives chase and slides in to push the ball away from the boundary, but makes contact with the rope as he does so.

The Usman Khawaja drop... We could have been in such a position! We have got ourselves a foothold in this Test match and we have fought hard.

  13. Aus 111-4published at 31 overs

Usman Khawaja faces five balls from Jofra Archer without scoring, then takes two to fine leg.

Onto 48 from 78 deliveries - the Australia number four has scored seven from 23 balls since lunch.

I wasn't impressed with Brydon Carse's first spell. If it was the plan to bowl short, I was not keen on it.

So we've got someone feeling nauseous in Indonesia and another person getting anaesthetised in Vanuatu.

Where else are feel cricket fans feeling woozy in the South Pacific? Are you car sick in the Cook Islands or feeling bilious in Brunei?

Meanwhile Brydon Carse is back to replace Josh Tongue, with one Usman Khawaja run coming off his over - he moves to 46.

  18. Aus 108-4published at 29 overs

Alex Carey tries to ride the bounce of Jofra Archer's delivery, leaping off the ground and sticking a raised bat under the lifting delivery.

The ball spoons up over gully and dribbles away from the chasing fielder, with Carey picking up two.

Archer ends his over by firing in another short ball, and Carey ducks under that one.

It has been such a batter-friendly surface. Those two soft dismissals are the gift that England wanted.

Nicked, but short of the cordon!

Josh Tongue finds the edge of Usman Khawaja's bat, but the ball falls well short of the waiting slips.

The veteran batter then gets two runs down to third, and blocks out a handy yorker to end the over.
