Six more for Harry Brook, taking Dipendra Singh Airee down the ground. He's up to 39 (22) after being 20 (17) at the end of the 12th.

Fair to say that there were doubts about where Jacob Bethell would fit into this England but he is the one player who the local journalists were asking questions about. He's starting to make a name for himself in India.

That might be the first ugly shot Jacob Bethell has attempted all day, going down on one knee for a reverse sweep and not getting anywhere near the ball. The lbw appeal is short and lacking in conviction.

Harry Brook hits inside-out over cover for four and then smacks the final ball of the over down the ground for six.

He's dented Sandeep Lamichhane's figures (1-24 from three overs) a little with those two strokes.

  4. Eng 106-3published at 12 overs

Khushal Bhurtel stops the over from getting out of control, responding to those sixes with three dot balls.

That is brutal from Jacob Bethell. Absolutely enormous. What a way to bring up a half-century and boy he is some talent. He looks able to move through the gears in a way that few players have.

    Eng 106-3

Even bigger! Jacob Bethell sweeps the ball into the third tier of the stand.

    That's a half-century off 28 balls for England's number three.

Jacob Bethell brought up England's 50 with a six and he's done it again for the team 100.

Short ball from Khushal Bhurtel. Ta very much.

I don't think England will put a limit on a total but 200 is within reach here. We saw yesterday that 161 for India was enough against the USA.

Jacob Bethell is increasingly looking like a man for all seasons.

  11. Eng 92-3published at 11 overs

Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell tap it around for four singles before Bethell collects four through backward point.

Still, it's a better over from Sher Malla, who leaked 1-29 from his first two, including being pumped for five boundaries.

It's hard sometimes to compare the stats of players from Associate member nations because so many of their games take place against other Associate teams.

  13. Eng 84-3published at 10 overs

    Bethell 35 (22), Brook 17 (14)

That's lovely placement from Harry Brook, bisecting two fielders behind point and collecting four - England's first boundary since the seventh over.

It's an otherwise tidy over from Khushal Bhurtel. Eight from it.

At the halfway mark, England are 84-3.

Tom Banton is clearly a good player, but we see this time and time again. Shows promise, but then offers nothing when it comes to the World Cup.

No surprise to see Nepal so well supported here at the Wankhede Stadium. There are millions of Nepal fans living and working all over India. And there will be those who will have travelled over for the games as well.

  16. Eng 76-3published at 9 overs

Tidy from Sandeep Lamichhane, conceding just three singles and throwing himself in the dirt to save one off his own bowling.

England have only scored one boundary since the end of the powerplay.

England are going along quite well. They are in control of things. But they will be looking at getting a move on.

A better throw there and Jacob Bethell would have been in big trouble. Bethell stopped and then had to put the afterburners on to make his ground.

  19. Eng 73-3published at 8 overs

Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell are running hard to keep the scoreboard ticking but it's a little bit dicey at times.

They pick up two midway through the over, try it again off the next ball and end up being grateful that the throw from Khushal Bhurtel into the wicketkeeper is wayward.

Bethell was slow to turn at the non-striker's end and Brook was already charging back towards him.

Nepal's spin heavy attack will fancy their chances against Harry Brook - the England skipper averages just 22 against spin in the last two years compared to 53 facing pace.
