OHHHHHH that's a life for Harry Brook!

He goes for the reverse and nudges the ball just wide of wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh and a sprawling Aarif Sheikh at slip. He collects four.

Seven from Sandeep Lamichhane's first over.

It's a shot Tom Banton uses and is very good at. His ability to hit both sides with the sweep. But he misses and is given out lbw.

Red. Red. Red. As expected, it's out. It would have clattered into leg stump if Tom Banton's knee roll hadn't been in the way.

An interesting choice to try and reverse sweep Sandeep Lamichhane when you're yet to face a delivery from him...

Banton departs for 2 (5) after wasting a review. Here comes Harry Brook.

Tom Banton looked for the reverse sweep but missed it completely! With one second remaining he reviews.

Tom Banton will hope he's got his pad outside the line but it looks pretty out to me.

  6. England reviewpublished at 6.1 overs

Tom Banton tries to reverse sweep Sandeep Lamichhane and is struck on the pad. The umpire's finger goes up!

After a lengthy deliberation with Jacob Bethell, Banton goes up for the review. It's a long shot, in my opinion.

Jacob Bethell is so strong at picking up length against spin and punishes anything short - he averages 61 while striking at 315 playing the pull shot against the spinners.

That catch was certainly a chance for Nepal. You would think if they are to win this game they will need to hold those. It's moments like that as the non-major team Nepal need to take.

  9. dropped catch

Dropped catch - Banton on 1published at 6 overs

    Eng 57-2

Was that a drop from Sher Malla? I think it was. It was heftily struck back at the bowler by Tom Banton but he got a hand to it in his follow through, moving to his left.

At the end of the powerplay, England are 57-2 and scoring a 9.5 per over.

Jacob Bethell has 27 (13) and Tom Banton has 2 (4).

Debutant Malla has been expensive, leaking five boundaries, but did bag the early wicket of Phil Salt. Nandan Yadav accounted for Jos Buttler.

Jacob Bethell has absolutely tonked that!

50 up for England and Jacob Bethell has done it in style, stepping back and heaving the ball into the leg side for six. That struck the second tier of the stands!

  12. Eng 44-2published at 5 overs

Just a leg bye from the second half of Nandan Yadav's first over.

It slightly lifted on Jos Buttler and it was a bit of non-committal shot. He was trying to dab it rather than really hit. Buttler had looked good and was timing the ball nicely. Nepal's bowling doesn't look that threatening but if you lose a wicket you have to be on your guard and England will be wary.

  14. wicket

    Buttler c Aasif b Yadav 26 (Eng 43-2)

The bowling change brings a wicket!

One ball after being cut for four, Nandan Yadav sends Jos Buttler packing, the former skipper nicking through to wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh.

Buttler looks more than a little annoyed as he departs for 26 (17).

Tom Banton is the next man in for England.

Jos Buttler is exceptional when it comes to taking full advantage of the powerplay overs once he's settled - in the last two years he strikes at 188 in overs 4-6 for England.

Not every day is going to be Jos Buttler's day but he is good at seizing his opportunity when he's on top of a bowler to make it count. He has a wealth of experience in India, too.

You can make a case for Nepal being the best, or most exciting, of the so-called smaller teams at this World Cup. They won every game in their qualifiers, beat West Indies in a three-match series last year and comfortably beat both UAE and Canada in their warm-ups. The Nepalese Premier League, in which all of these players feature, is growing in prominence too.

  18. Eng 39-1published at 4 overs

Dipendra Singh Airee replaces Sher Malla after one over, the debutant proving expensive after taking the wicket of Phil Salt.

After exchanging singles with Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler collects back-to-back boundaries, biffing the second over mid-off for a one-bounce four.

England are clipping along at 9.75 per over.

That's the first time we have seen Jos Buttler really time the ball today. He'd been happy to tap it around until that point.

The right-left hand combination is useful for England here because it tests your skills as a bowler to be flexible with your plans.

  20. Eng 28-1published at 3 overs

It's a tidy first half of the over from Karan KC, conceding just two singles.

And then, a short ball. Jos Buttler says thank you very much and pushes it in the air through mid-on for four, the ball bouncing just in front of the rope.

    Nine from the over.
