I think it's probably even. You feel this is a 150 or 160 wicket. The key for New Zealand is having one of these two, Halliday or Green, in at the end.

The pitch is hard to describe. There is a bit of green on it and a bit of patchiness. It feels like it is a bit up and down, we've seen catches and chances at mid-on and mid-off which means it's probably not bouncing at an even level.

A bit challenging as as batting unit.

A brilliant innings from Sophie Devine comes to an end. She seemed to have one mode of playing but she seemed to be deceived by that one just skidding through.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9 overs

    Devine b Gibson 45 (NZ 70-4)

    But now Sophie Devine departs!

Dani Gibson takes out New Zealand's danger batter, lifting the veteran's bails.

Amy Jones, standing up, had her hands very close to the stumps which seemed to confuse the umpires initially, but there was no glove on the ball.

  8. NZ 70-3published at 8.5 overs

All leg side from Sophie Devine!

This time she hammers Dani Gibson's delivery and Freya Kemp attempts the diving catch rather than being more conservative and just stopping the shot.

She can't quite make it and the ball breaks for four.

England have bowled beautifully, tactically they've been very good to Izzy Gaze.

She comes down the track to that one and just swipes across the line. The result of good, disciplined bowling from England.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.4 innings

    Gaze b Dean 12 (NZ 56-3)

    Three dots and wicket!

A fantastic start from Charlie Dean, frustrating Izzy Gaze and then breaking the stumps of the New Zealand opener.

    In comes Brooke Halliday.

This is the most relaxed I've ever seen Sophie Devine play cricket.

She's quite an imposing figure out in the middle but since she's announced she'll be retiring, she's played with so much freedom.

How much better are New Zealand when Sophie Devine is playing? She just looks so much better than everyone else.

There is going to be a huge hole in the New Zealand team when she retires.

  15. NZ 50-2published at 6.3 overs

Oooh, Dani Gibson almost pulls off a spectacular catch!

Sophie Devine targets the mid-wicket boundary, Dani Gibson runs round near the rope and dives for the ball, getting a hand on the ball but it seeing it drop, bounce off her arm and hit the boundary sponge.

Devine had already scored a four off her legs to bring up New Zealand's fifty.

I think this is Freya Kemp's first bowl of the summer. I don't think she's bowled for Hampshire.

  17. Postpublished at 18:57 BST 20 May

As the fielders go back, Freya Kemp comes on to bowl.

She played exclusively as a batter in the ODIs after coming back from a back injury.

Fireworks in that over from Devine with those three sixes. There was a fielder out there but every time, Devine thought 'I'll just hit it over here!'.

  19. 6 runs

    NZ 45-2published at 6 overs

    And once more!

Sophie Devine ends the powerplay by adding a third six, clearing the fielders posted on the leg-side ropes.

The all-rounder is turning the tide for New Zealand.

Really clever from Sophie Devine, targeting that side of the boundary because the wind is quite strong.
