I'm surprised to see Suzie Bates bowling in the powerplay. This is a huge opportunity for England to get ahead of the rate.

Jess Kerr is having an exceptional year inside the powerplay for the White Ferns - she's taken at least one powerplay wicket in seven of New Zealand's nine T20Is this year.

  3. Eng 13-1published at 3 overs

    Target 137

Maia Bouchier is the new batter and gets off the mark with a single.

Alice Capsey then defends solidly as Jess Kerr continues to target the stumps before clipping the last through the leg side.

A slight misfield allows them to get back for two.

I don't mind that from Sophia Dunkley.

She's looking to stop the ball swinging, hit the ball down the ground, thick outside edge it goes up in the air and it's a simple catch for Izzy Sharp.

    Dunkley c Sharp b J Kerr 8 (Eng 10-1)

    Easily held in the covers.

Having gone aerial the ball before, getting two back down the ground with a mishit, Sophia Dunkley attempts another big shot and gets a thick outside edge.

The ball skews high into the off side and Izzy Sharp moves around to take the catch. Jess Kerr with the early breakthrough for the White Ferns.

  6. Eng 8-0published at 2 overs

    Target 137

Left-arm seamer Bree Illing starts from the other end and it's a very tidy over.

Just a pair of singles from it, the second a thick inside edge from Sophia Dunkley that runs down to fine leg - it could so easily have ricocheted back onto the stumps, though.

Lovely from Sophia Dunkley. Just waiting for that ball, slightly fuller from Jess Kerr and she crunches it through extra cover.

  8. Eng 6-0published at 1 over

    Target 137

After a single apiece for the openers gets England up and running, Sophia Dunkley drills the last ball through extra cover for four.

Overpitched by Jess Kerr and Dunkley was quick to punish it.

  9. Eng 0-0published at 0.1 overs

    Target 137

Plenty of swing straightaway for Jess Kerr and Sophia Dunkley just gets enough bat on it to stop the ball sneaking through the gate.

Well that bodes well for England.

We'll soon find out whether they can extend that record. Openers Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey are already out there and we're just about ready for the chase.

Jess Kerr is preparing to bowl the first over of the innings for New Zealand.

England are on a 19-match winning streak when restricting the opposition to 140 and under, with their last failed chase under 140 coming against Australia in Melbourne, 2020.

    Thanks, Mike.

Yes, England need 137 to win. There was some suggestion that the pitch wasn't quite as good for batting as was initially thought but the home side will still be confident of knocking these off.

There's no Nat Sciver-Brunt, though, so New Zealand will hope a couple of early wickets set a few nerves jangling in the home dressing room.

Some interesting calls from New Zealand towards the end there.

Suzie Bates didn't make it to the middle and Jess Kerr faced five balls in the final over despite Izzy Sharp being the set batter.

Meanwhile, Linsey Smith finished with figures of 1-10 with one maiden - top stuff from her.

137 looks very chaseable for England - here's Sam Drury to see if they can do it.

I feel like it won't be enough. England need to get off to a good start, but New Zealand only had one batter, Sophie Devine, who got after the bowling.

The wind is strong across the ground so England need to use that to their advantage. We have to hope the rain stays away because there's some dark clouds creeping up on us.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 20 overs

J Kerr run out Gibson 5 (NZ 136-7)

Can't get back for the second!

Jess Kerr gets two in the covers and tries to add another couple off the over's final ball.

It's optimistic and she ends up well short of her ground as Amy Jones removes the bails off Dani Gibson's throw from mid-wicket.

That's the innings - England will need 137 to win.

Linsey Smith has bowled so well today but it's not often you see Sophie Ecclestone not bowl her four overs.

  17. NZ 133-6published at 19.3 overs

    Fantastic stuff from Linsey Smith.

The left-armer takes the final over and concedes a couple of singles prior to a dot with her first three balls.

Jess Kerr heads out to the middle.

She takes a single off the last ball of the over to retain the strike.

Maddy Green struggled there - she stuck it out but she couldn't get her scoring rate above one a ball.
