    Somerset 347 v Notts 245-4

Lovely drive past the despairing dive of the fielder at point and Kyle Verreyne has his first boundary, off a wide one from compatriot Migael Pretorius.

He's into double figures and Notts are within five runs of a batting point.

Against his former club Jake Ball has replaced Craig Overton so he can have a breather before the new ball arrives.

His first ball is popped up by Joe Clarke but it drops safely just short of Pretorius at mid-on.

    Mayes lbw b Snater 8 (Hants 65-7 v Essex 461-7d)

    Shane SnaterImage source, Shutterstock

Ben Mayes has walked across his stumps trying to flick that into the leg side and Shane Snater has beaten the bat and rapped him in front.

That looks a decent decision for all that Mayes looked hopefully back at the umpire before the finger went up.

Hants are in all sorts of bother with Kyle Abbott the new batsman. He is beaten first ball by Snater.

    Leaning c Eskinazi b Green 6 (Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 177-5)

    Brilliant catch.

Jack Leaning jabs the bat at a ball he could have left and Stevie Eskinazi dives to his right at second slip to take it in two hands.

Great reactions - and Ben Green has his second victim of the morning.

  4. Postpublished at 11:50 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 239-4

Lovely pull on the swivel from Joe Clarke from the first ball of Craig Overton's latest over.

he times it supremely and it races away to the fence at long leg and takes Clarke into the 80s.

Somerset have six overs and change to wait before claiming the new ball, can Clarke make it to three figures before a new phase of the game begins?

  5. Play resumes in Leicesterpublished at 11:47 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 176-4

    Ian HollandImage source, Shutterstock

Only a brief interruption at Grace Road and the teams are back out in the middle.

Jack Leaning defends Ian Holland's fifth ball of the over he was in the middle of when rain arrived and the final one is a dot too.

"What a change in the weather from 10 minutes ago - blue skies now," says BBC commentator Rita Green.

  6. Postpublished at 11:45 BST 5 April

    Glamorgan 302 v Yorks 31-1

Sam Whiteman tickles Andy Gorvin away for his first boundary - we don't think he intended it go quite as fine as that.

A much more authentic stroke next ball up, put away through the covers for four more by the Yorkshire-born Aussie.

How is it possible that Sam Cook isn't a nailed on pick for England? The selection process is a joke.

    Mark, Lancashire

I would hazard a guess that somerset will be in the top 3. Consistently promote from within, even over a second overseas player this year

    Dave, Wiltshire

A pleasing start for the Middlesex lads despite the noises off. Great that the skipper got a big score, leading from the front, with the ever reliable TRJ performing too. Tough time for the seaxes but a good time to show what they've got on the field.

    Richard, Kent

WICKETpublished at 11:44 BST 5 April

    Dawson c Pepper b Porter 1 (Hants 63-6 v Essex 461-7d)

This is good bowling from Essex and it is turning into a nightmare morning for the hosts as another goes.

Jamie Porter has sent it down the perfect line and Liam Dawson has fended at it without any apparent conviction. It takes the edge and Michael Pepper takes a good tumbling catch behind.

    Hants are 14-3 this morning.

  9. Postpublished at 11:41 BST 5 April

    Glamorgan 302 v Yorks 22-1

Glamorgan only managed a run rate of 2.5 per over in their first innings and Yorkshire are not finding scoring any easier thus far.

There is a boundary in Timm van der Gugten's latest over for Adam Lyth - but it's a fortunate one, flying off the edge and wide of the slip cordon. He is 15 not out.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:41 BST 5 April

    Hain lbw Fisher 94

Matthew Fisher turns Sam Hain round and has him lbw for 94. So Hain who couldn't manage a championship century last summer, is gone just short of three figures.

It ends a stand of 212 with Dan Mousley which has taken the Warwickshire lead to 36 on 364-3.

  11. dropped catch

Kyle Verreynne dropped on fourpublished at 11:41 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 230-4

We are indeed back under way at Taunton, and straight into the drama.

Craig Overton finished his aborted over, after finally remembering he needed a ball to bowl with, with Migael Pretorius still operating from the other end.

Kyle Verreynne comes forward to the third ball of his latest over and gets a genuine edge to Tom Kohler-Cadmore at first slip but he doesn't bend his knees and can't get his big rig down in time to get his fingers under the ball and the chance is spurned.

Pretorius has a face like thunder.

  12. rain stops play

Rain stops play in Derbypublished at 11:39 BST 5 April

    Derbys 625-8 dec v Worcs 140-2

Looks like this band of rain has settled on the Midlands.

They are off at the Co-Op County Ground with Mo Abbas five balls into an over and Adam Hose on strike.

Wonder what will be going through teenage opener Dan Lategan's mind as he sits in the dressing room on 87 not out.

  13. Division Two updatepublished at 11:36 BST 5 April

    #bbccricket

At Derby young Dan Lategan has moved on to 87* with a lovely cut for four off a short ball from Ben Aitchison.

The Worcestershire deficit is down to 487 against Derbyshire - below that important psychological milestone of 500, at least.

At Lord's Miles Hammond is into the 60s after a lovely punch through the covers off Ryan Higgins and Gloucestershire's deficit against Middlesex is 311 with six wickets remaining.

  14. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Grace Roadpublished at 11:35 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 176-4

    Well, that's a shame.

Four balls into Ian Holland's 12th over of the innings and the umpires the wet stuff blowing around is sufficient to force a stoppage.

Jack Carson is 28 not out and Jack Leaning has six for Sussex.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:31 BST 5 April

    Brown b Cook 3 (Hants 54-5 v Essex 461-7d)

Ben Brown has misjudged that one badly, shouldering arms and hearing his off stump whacked out of its mooring.

There was a hint of inswing but not enough for his initial judgement of line to be in any way accurate and he has paid with his wicket as Sam Cook rips it through.

Hants are 6-2 this morning and circling the plughole already.

  17. Covers off at Tauntonpublished at 11:27 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 226-4

We have shadows on the playing surface again and the covers are gone... the shower was indeed sharp and short.

Hopeful of a pretty swift resumption at Taunton.

  18. Postpublished at 11:27 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 169-4

That's too full from Foxes skipper Ian Holland and Jack Carson seizes on it and drives down the ground for four. Sussex lead by 285.

  19. 200 runs

200 Partnership between Mousley and Hainpublished at 11:25 BST 5 April

    Warwickshire 350-2 v Surrey 328

It's taken the Bears no time to secure their third batting point on the third morning at Edgbaston.

Dan Mousley produced three boundaries in one over with two glorious cover drives and a leg glance despite Sean Abbott getting some movement with the new ball.

But it was Sam Hain who brought up the 350 landmark with a single followed in the next over by an edged four to complete a double century stand for the third wicket.

Almost all Surrey fielders hands are firmly in pockets in between deliveries, no doubt utlilising hand warmers on a blustery morning with the sunshine apparently providing little warmth.
