    Northants 58-3 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs

George Bartlett sees out the Matt Taylor over. Taylor now has seven wickets in the match.

Now Bartlett gets a couple of runs to get off the mark off the bowling of Will Williams.

Bartlett is well across his stumps, turning the ball to mid wicket but there's no run this time.

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 17:23 BST 17 May

    Yorkshire v Surrey 39-1 f/o - trail by 243

It has began to start raining pretty steadily and we are off for a break in play at Headingley.

Let's hope it's not terminal for the day - the umpires remain on the field of play for the time being.

    Hants 214 & 60-3 v Notts 229

    Ooof, that was close!

Tom Prest breathes a sigh of relief as Josh Tongue induces a thick outside edge but it drops a whisker short of Notts debutant Sam Seecharan at third slip.

The England paceman is really bending his back here but Prest survives. A fourth maiden from five overs for Tongue.

All-rounder Lyndon James is the latest change as he runs in for his first over of the second innings, replacing Olly Stone.

The new ball does the trick.

Ben Aitchison starts a new over, Zafar Gohar cuts but only edges to the keeper.

The lead is 58 as Eathan Bosch comes out to bat.

    Harrison c Price b Taylor 35 (Northants 55-3 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs)

    Huge wicket!

Matt Taylor draws Calvin Harrison into a loose defensive stroke and the number three gets an edge through to first slip.

Good catch from Ollie Price, who tumbles backwards on to the ground but holds on.

    George Bartlett will bat next.

    Yorkshire v Surrey 36-1 f/o - trail by 246

The last time Surrey were forced to follow-on they were able to pick up a draw in a run-fest against Warwickshire at Edgbaston last May. They scored over 500 in the first-innings of that one!

Matthew Revis continues to race in and is finding a consistent line and length but so far Ryan Patel's defences have been solid under cloudy skies.

  7. Postpublished at 17:17 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 182-3

A leg side half volley from Alfie Ogborne and Dan Hughes dispatches it through long on for four to move to 97.

A wild swing and a miss off a short ball follows. Nervous 90s.

    Warks 252 v Glam 360 & 109-4

Jordan Thompson is introduced for the first time, replacing Nathan Gilchrist in the 36th over.

Colin Ingram (43) and Sean Dickson (3) collect a single apiece before the Bears main man Ethan Bamber continues his quest for a five-for.

After away swingers, a little wide of the mark, Bamber gets the final ball to nip in, but Dickson negotiates a maiden.

    Northants 55-2 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs

Miles Hammond is limbering up though one doubts he'll be asked to bowl in this match situation.

He does have a couple of wickets with his occasional off spin this season though.

Will Williams is actually bowling and a middle and leg ball is pushed defensively into the on side by Nathan McSweeney.

    Middx 177 & 257-6 v Derbys 376

Back to back fours for Zafar Gohar off Rory Haydon before he dabs the ball out to point for a single.

There are three slips in place for the Derbyshire paceman as he looks to do some damage with this new ball.

  11. Postpublished at 17:12 BST 17 May

    Hants 214 & 58-3 v Notts 229

Josh Tongue is back into the attack after his earlier three-over burst as Fergus O'Neill takes a breather.

He almost finds the pads of Tom Prest and then tucks up the Hants batter who plays out a maiden.

The partnership up to 28 and the lead is 43.

  12. Back on at Tauntonpublished at 17:11 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 175-3

Lewis Gregory has four balls left to complete his over.

Dan Hughes on strike - on 91. Jack Leaning has 21.

  13. Essex batting 'still need to be more consistent'published at 17:11 BST 17 May

    Essex 293 & 104-3 v Leicestershire 33 & 60

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex commentator

A match that seemed destined to go well into day four ended in two dramatic sessions as Essex secured back to back home wins.

Their performance in bowling Leicestershire out inside 28 overs was in remarkable contrast to that of the opening morning when the visitors scored at close to a run a ball.

Captain Tom Westley acknowledged that afterwards, saying that the game was closer than the scores suggest.

A key difference for Essex this season is that the seam bowling unit is firing collectively. Sam Cook, in particular, is back at his best and was unlucky to miss selection for the first Test.

The departure of Wiaan Mulder will create a selection dilemma in terms of balancing the side but the return of Jordan Cox will boost a batting line up that still needs to be more consistent if Essex are to challenge for the title.

    Northants 55-2 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs

Calvin Harrison drives Matt Taylor through the off side for four, taking his team to 50 in the 16th over.

Short from Taylor and swatted through mid wicket by Harrison for four.

    He moves to 35.

Wonder how often he's had to do this in South Africa.

Worcestershire's Beyers Swanepoel takes great care not to cause any part of his anatomy an injury as he goes to retrieve the ball during the game against Lancashire at Southport.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops play (again) at Tauntonpublished at 17:04 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 175-3

A pause in play as there appears to be drizzle in the air.

    Are we playing on? No.

As the players walk off, the umpires stay in the middle and the sun is out.

There are no superlatives to describe the absurdity of the situation.
