    Coughlin lbw Taylor 61 (Lancs 281-8 v Worcs 270)

    Paul CoughlinImage source, Shutterstock

With the very last ball of the day - can you believe that?!

As the players walk off - ironically in the best weather we have had since the beginning of the morning session - Paul Coughlin looks to turn one into the leg side off the bowling of Tom Taylor.

He is unwise to though - despite his terrifically entertaining knock - and he is caught plumb LBW, bang in front.

That feels like a big wicket as Coughlin was motoring at stumps on a rain-affected day three.

The Red Rose lead by 11 runs - but with just two wickets in hand and Coughlin the danger man at the end of the innings - it remains a slender one before the final day's play tomorrow.

    Warks 252 v Glam 360 & 181-4

Colin Ingram aims a big drive at Oliver Hannon-Dalby but his timing is out and he trots through for a single.

OHD continues to get some decent swing but it all looks pretty comfy out there for the batters. Sean Dickson shows a textbook straight bat in defence.

Ten more overs are scheduled today as the shadows lengthen in the lovely evening sunshine.

    Northants 116-4 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs

Matt Taylor is into his 10th over of the innings - and Nathan McSweeney picks up a single to long leg, taking him to 27.

Single to James Sales, moving inside the line and nudging to leg.

Matt Taylor gets a ball to jag in sharply to McSweney, who is almost cut in half, leaving the ball on length.

    Yorkshire v Surrey 80-5 f/o - trail by 202

Harry Brook continues around the wicket and there is another big appeal for LBW.

The following delivery completely deceives Jinny Bairstow stood up to the wicket and stops dead on him to go past for four byes.

This has been a fantastic spell from Brook who has then got his hands on his head - he thinks Bairstow could have caught this but it goes down as leg byes.

Brook is everywhere at the moment - beating the bat on numerous occasions.

He has figures of 3-11. Before this innings, he only had nine wickets in his first-class career in total.

Extraordinary scenes at the end of day three at Headingley.

  5. Postpublished at 18:33 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 225-7

A bit of width from Migael Pretorius and Fynn Hudson-Prentice is off the mark with a drive through cover for four.

Lewis Gregory replaces Archie Vaughan at the River End.

The Somerset captain gets the edge of the bat of James Coles but the ball flies over the hands of Craig Overton at second slip. Four runs.

Very frustrating for Gregory, who has been stretching his lower back a bit between deliveries in this over.

Coles plays and misses - then drives a ball to backward point for four.

    Six overs left tonight.

Lancashire take leadpublished at 18:32 BST 17 May

    Lancs 272-7 v Worcs 270

Another six from Paul Coughlin and another that goes over to the train tracks! We will need another replacement ball - how many times has that happened today?

He is picking up and timing everything so sweetly today. That means Lancashire have moved past Worcestershire's first innings total.

  7. Postpublished at 18:32 BST 17 May

    Warks 252 v Glam 360 & 177-4

More frustration for the Bears as Colin Ingram edges Oliver Hannon-Dalby through the gap between first and second slip for four.

A single takes Ingram to 74.

Sean Dickson then rocks onto the back foot and cuts OHD for four to go to 32. The lead is a mighty 285.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Paul Coughlinpublished at 18:28 BST 17 May

    Lancs 265-7 v Worcs 270

50 for Paul Coughlin off just 36 deliveries.

What an important knock that has been as Lancashire get to their first batting point and approach Worcestershire's first innings score.

Coughlin will have been thinking about being on 49 not out for just under two hours in the pavilion after we came off for rain.

  9. Postpublished at 18:27 BST 17 May

    Northants 110-4 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs

Gabe Bell is testing James Sales out with the short ball, who ducks with his eyes fixed on it.

He drops a single into the off side to move to 18.

Nathan McSweeney takes a hand off the bat and gloves a single behind square leg.

Sales is squared up defending but sees out the over.

  10. Play resumes at Southportpublished at 18:25 BST 17 May

    Lancs 262-7 v Worcs 270

We are back on for just four overs at the end of the day in the low-hanging Southport sun.

    Enjoy them while you can!

    Tear b Pretorius 1 (Somerset 1 526-8 dec v Sussex 213-7)

Migael Pretorius has been brought back into the attack from the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion End.

Charlie Tear leaves on width outside the off stump.

Bowled him! Tear is beaten on the drive and the ball canons into off stump.

Sussex have lost 4-9, starting with the wicket of Dan Hughes.

    Fynn Hudson-Prentice is in now.

  12. Postpublished at 18:20 BST 17 May

    Warks 252 v Glam 360 & 164-4

The umpires have been persuaded by the hosts to change the ball after 51.2 overs of use.

The briefcase of alternative cherries is brought out.

Will the change of ball bring a change of luck?

  13. Postpublished at 18:20 BST 17 May

    Yorkshire v Surrey 68-5 f/o - trail by 214 runs

WHAT a spell this is from Harry Brook.

He gets one to nip back in on Dom Sibley and there is a big shout for LBW but height was a problem on that one.

In fact, Sibley will have to have a moment to himself as that one has struck him in the unmentionables.

Is Jamie Smith trying to collect the weirdest set of players to have dismissed him? Labuschagne and Brook, who next?

    Liam, Milton Keynes

Looks like Jamie Smith’s early season form on some very batter friendly strips has gone and he is now struggling to get into double figures. We know he is an average keeper at best so will the England selectors be strong enough to replace him with Rew? I hope so.

  15. Postpublished at 18:19 BST 17 May

    Northants 101-4 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs

Nathan McSweeney guides Northants past 100 in the 31st over with a steer wide of slip and through deep third for four off Gabe Bell.

15 overs left tonight as it stands. Matt Taylor is back in the attack from the Ashley Down road End.

  16. Play to resume at Southport at 18:25published at 18:18 BST 17 May

    Lancs 262-7 v Worcs 270

The umpires have had a look and decided we are good to resume at Southport at 18:25.

With light not great, we wonder if Tom Hartley (15*) and Paul Coughlin (49*) will be happy with that call as Lancashire trail Worcestershire by just eight runs.

  17. Sussex lower order 'need to battle hard'published at 18:18 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 213-6

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

With an inclement weather forecast tomorrow this game may well be heading for a draw, but there are bonus points up for grabs, and if the forecasters are wrong, Sussex could face an awkward final day.

The introduction of Tom Lammonby has changed the course of the game - from the comparative safety of 202-3, Sussex have subsided to 213-6.

Daniel Hughes had earlier become the third centurion of the match with his second in consecutive weeks, an innings full of beautiful cover drives, but the Sussex lower order will need to battle hard to avoid the follow-on.

  18. Postpublished at 18:15 BST 17 May

    Northants 97-4 - target - 249 to beat Gloucs

It's four for James Sales, but that ball only just cleared square leg safely.

    The nerves are jangling.

Sales gets four more off Craig Miles, guiding the ball wide of the slips and through to deep third.

  19. Close of play at the Utilita Bowlpublished at 18:14 BST 17 May

    Hants 214 & 82-4 v Notts 229

The weather frustrates Nottinghamshire hopes of further progress on day three.

Hampshire have battled well today thanks to Sonny Baker (5-45) and Kyle Abbott (4-40) who restricted the Notts first-innings lead to just 15 runs.

But more top order woes leaves them in a precarious position, four down in the second innings with a 67-run lead.

Much will rest on the shoulders who will resume tomorrow unbeaten on 30.

    Warks 252 v Glam 360 & 160-4

After a lengthy break, Oliver Hannon-Dalby is back into the attack from the Birmingham End, replacing the tidy Jordan Thompson, as the home side look elsewhere for a breakthrough.

OHD's radar goes awry as a wide ball runs all the way down the legside to the boundary for five extras. Alex Davies had no chance of stopping that.

It also brings up the fifty stand for the fifth-wicket partnership of Colin Ingram and Sean Dickson, off 92 balls.
