    Gloucs 154 & 109-5 v Northants 127

James Bracey leaves Ben Sanderson outside the off stump.

Maiden over. It does feel like the wicket has eased up a touch.

    Still far from easy though.

Maybe we should revise our thoughts on a par score?

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:03 BST 17 May

    Singh b Swanepoel 36 (Lancs 133-3 v Worcs 270)

He's chopped on! Inside edge and Harry Singh has to walk - perhaps the lunch break came at the wrong time as he looked set before then.

It's a wide delivery from Beyers Swanepoel which Singh goes after and he chops on to off stump.

That breaks up an excellent partnership for Lancashire which was developing between Singh and Keaton Jennings.

  3. dropped catch

Leaning dropped on 0published at 14:03 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 118-3

Migael Pretorius is into his second over of the innings and his first since lunch and starts with a maiden.

Dan Hughes works Lewis Gregory away to fine leg for one.

Jack Leaning edges... and is dropped at first slip by Tom Abell!

Waist high, a bit to his right and a relatively straightforward chance.

  4. Postpublished at 14:02 BST 17 May

    Yorkshire 486 v Surrey 112-7

Sean Abbott plays nicely off his legs through mid-wicket for a couple to move onto 10 not out before leaving alone Jhye Richardson's final ball of the over.

How would Surrey love their tail to wag right now.

  5. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 14:01 BST 17 May

    Hants 214 v Notts 213-7

Hampshire scented an unlikely first-innings lead when this pair came together but Liam Patterson-White and Fergus O'Neill have all but wiped out the deficit.

LPW drives through cover point for four to bring up the fifty partnership off 85 balls.

It was an important feature of Nottinghamshire's title-winning season that everyone chipped in when required and this pair are showing that this same spirit remains.

    Gloucs 154 & 109-5 v Northants 127

Three balls into the over we're in conference with the umpires about the state of the ball.

The ball has done quite a lot in this game - and this one is not going to be changed.

Harry Conway will bowl the second over of the session and Bancroft drives through cover for four.

Conway pushes the ball out wider and Bancroft leaves it.

A leg side ball evades Bancroft and keeper Lewis McManus for four byes. 136 ahead now.

  7. Postpublished at 13:58 BST 17 May

    Hants 214 v Notts 209-7

Fergus O'Neill flicks a single down to fine leg off the last ball of Kyle Abbott over to keep the strike.

He'll face Delano Potgieter who removed Jack Haynes earlier as Notts wobbled. A drive to mid-off brings one more to take the Australian into double digits.

Liam Patterson-White gets a toe end on a wide delivery betraying a bit of ring-rust to his first ball after lunch and then drives into the offside for a single. His turn to farm the strike.

After starting the season with 182 against Gloucestershire, Leus du Plooy passes 50 for the fourth time since then with a single off Rory Haydon - it has taken him 61 balls.

Partner Caleb Falconer drives straight down the ground as the total passes 100.

50 for Keaton Jenningspublished at 13:56 BST 17 May

    Lancs 128-2 v Worcs 270

A gritty knock by Keaton Jennings.

His 50 has come off 127 balls - just the four fours for the left-handed opener so far but he has shown his importance to this Lancashire side once more.

That's his fourth score of 50 or more for Sussex this season with a best effort of 136, made in the last round against Leicestershire at Hove.

    Yorkshire 486 v Surrey 103-7

The afternoon session begins at Headingley with Yorkshire looking to reassert their dominance on this one and pick off these final three Surrey wickets.

A pitch perfect opening session as far as the White Rose are concerned, despite that 15 minute break in the middle due to rain.

The umpires are in the middle and Dan Hughes is going to face Lewis Gregory on 48 not out.

He's batting with Jack leaning, yet to score after facing just the two deliveries so far.

  19. 'There's some tired bodies' - Simpsonpublished at 13:46 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 105-3

Sussex are playing their sixth game in seven weeks, including four away from home.

Wicketkeeper John Simpson was candid about the workload and the effect of playing, travel and preparation on the team following the second day's play in Taunton.

"Its a culmination of a lot of things. Four games on the bounce, travel, trying to recover - and as we all know, we're playing pretty much the same team," he said.

"We've probably lacked a little bit of energy in the last couple of days and there's some tired bodies, but fundamentally (we need) some personal pride in our performances individually and as a collective."

"The next two days are going to be crucial, how we apply ourselves and the attitude, the application we show over the next two days."

  20. Wicket 'probably not good enough' - Lehmannpublished at 13:43 BST 17 May

    Gloucs 154 & 101-5 v Northants 127

    Darren LehmannImage source, Getty Images

We have talked a lot about the hybrid pitch at Bristol which has offered plenty of movement and some steepling bounce from a length.

There has only been one 50 partnership in the whole game, the current one between Cameron Bancroft and James Bracey.

"The wicket is probably not good enough and is similar to the one we had for the abandoned game two years ago," Northants head coach Darren Lehmann said after the second day's play.

"A lot of balls are seaming too much and are hard to hit - and the bounce is exaggerated at times.

"It's a bowler's game so far and both sides are trying everything possible to get a total on the board."
