    Davies c Simpson b Robinson 3 (Sussex v Warwickshire 11-1)

Dan Mousley tonned up in the first round, and the new Bears number three is needed early this morning.

Alex Davies feathers through off the new Championship skipper, Ollie Robinson, to the former Championship skipper.

18 balls, not his fluent best from Alex Davies, who was content to play second- grade cricket in Perth over the winter as James Bracey was the first-team overseas at their university club.

    Notts 34-2 v Glamorgan

Ben Duckett isn't hanging around this morning. Into the side at three and he's showing his worth so far.

Two fours on the bounce, the second hooked away to the square leg boundary as he punishes a half-tracker from Ryan Hadley.

It then flicks off Duckett's thigh around the corner for another single. Duckett is on 25 from 24 balls.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:31 BST 10 April

    Mulder c Kohler-Cadmore b Ball 0 (Essex 14-2 v Somerset)

Poor decision to keep Wiaan Mulder in my fantasy team for round two then!

A crisp drive into the offside first ball made him look to be in great touch, but second ball he is gone, caught at slip off Jake Ball.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore dropped an important catch last week, had his hand warmers with him all game, but has run straight off with a potential dislocation, worrying signs after the wicket these.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:29 BST 10 April

    Walter lbw b Ball 2 (Essex 14-1 v Somerset)

There is the much deserved first wicket and breakthrough for Somerset.

Easy lbw decision as Jake Ball gets one to cannon quite low into Paul Walter's pads on middle and leg.

The man who could have broken Brian Lara's Test score record, Wiaan Mulder, in at three for Essex, a spot he has worked his way up to for South Africa in recent years too.

Massive game at Old Trafford even this early in the season, winners would have real momentum going forward and I would tip them for promotion.

    Martin, Stoke

Indeed, Martin, and not a bad start for Derbyshire with Lancashire 19-2 already...

  6. Postpublished at 11:29 BST 10 April

    Surrey 22-1 v Leics

Meat and drink for Rory Burns.

It's full and wide outside off stump from Ian Holland and the Surrey skipper pounces to punch away to the extra cover boundary for four to move onto 13*.

  7. Postpublished at 11:27 BST 10 April

    Sussex v Warwickshire 11-0

Very slow going at Hove thanks to miserly bowling from FHP and Ollie Robinson.

Very different to the crash bang wallop of Sussex's openers this time last week at Grace Road.

  8. Postpublished at 11:26 BST 10 April

    Essex 14-0 v Somerset

Dean Elgar last played for Somerset in 2017, scoring 640 runs, averaging 40, but also played in 2013, when many fans will remember his incredible partnership with Roelof van der Merwe v Surrey back in the days when August saw top level white ball cricket.

He has played and missed multiple times again in Craig Overton's most recent maiden over.

Somerset saw a massive number of play and misses in their first innings at Taunton v Notts last week, and it is looking similar now both seamers have settled in now.

  9. Postpublished at 11:24 BST 10 April

    Notts 22-2 v Glamorgan

An entertaining first four overs at Trent Bridge.

Runs flowing for Ben Duckett, who is onto 14* but wickets a-tumbling. Nicely poised.

Middlesex have won the toss and teenager Seb Morgan has made a very early breakthrough, the 18-year-old bowling Worcestershire opener Jake Libby for a duck. The Pears are 10-1.

Northants have decided to make first use of the batting track at Canterbury and Ricardo Vasconcelos has hit the first six of the match off Kent's South African bowler Keith Dudgeon with the visitors 18-0.

Durham were asked to bat by Gloucestershire and openers Alex Lees and Ben McKinney have said 'thanks a lot' with five boundaries between them in five overs as they are 24-0.

  11. Postpublished at 11:20 BST 10 April

    Essex 12-0 v Somerset

A much better second and third over from Craig Overton, beating Dean Elgar multiple times either side of a top second over from Jake Ball too.

Since 1990, Craig Overton is the third most successful bowler v Essex in the County Championship, with 42 wickets at just over 18, only Kyle Abbott and Steve Patterson have fared better.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:19 BST 10 April

    Singh c Guest b Abbas 3 (Lancs 11-2 v Derbys)

Another low score for Harry Singh and both Lancs openers are back in the hutch inside five overs. Just a hint of movement away from the batter from Mo Abbas is enough to fox him.

The edge flies at a nice height to Brooke Guest behind the stumps and Derbys have made a very bright start indeed.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:19 BST 10 April

    Weatherley c Duke b Richardson 0 (Yorks v Hants 1-1)

Jhye Richardson has prised open the Hants openers with a regulation outswinger which has grazed the outside of Joe Weatherley's bat and been grabbed by Harry Duke behind the stumps.

If this was football we would be singing the praises of the dugout for inspired changes given the pair were subbed in after round one.

A first Yorkshire wicket for Australia quick Richardson.

  14. Postpublished at 11:17 BST 10 April

    Lancs 11-1 v Derbys

Josh Bohannon was in fine form at Northants in round one with a 90 in the first knock and he has just announced himself with a glorious cover drive as Ben Aitchison over-pitches a touch.

In contrast Harry Singh, in for the injured Keaton Jennings, could do with a score here in this game having fallen for a couple of ones at Wantage Road.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:17 BST 10 April

    Slater c Tribe b Hadley 0 (Notts 12-2 v Glamorgan)

This is some start by Glamorgan.

Ryan Hadley gets it to drift away from Ben Slater, who can't help but have a nibble outside off stump and it catches the outside edge.

It flies low to Asa Tribe at third slip but he makes a fine grab.

Both openers gone for a duck for the defending champions. In a bit of a pickle here.

  16. Postpublished at 11:16 BST 10 April

    Sussex v Warwickshire 9-0

Former Derbyshire man Fynn Hudson-Prentice had a decent April last year, and takes the new ball alongside his skipper at Hove.

He has started really well going for just one off his first two overs.

  17. Postpublished at 11:15 BST 10 April

    Notts 12-1 v Glamorgan

Ben Duckett onto 12 already for Notts as he drives through the covers for four from Timm van der Gugten.

Lovely shot by Duckett, who is into the side in place of Freddie McCann today.

  18. Postpublished at 11:14 BST 10 April

    Surrey 14-1 v Leics

Not a bad run-rate in the first three overs for Surrey but they're a Dom Sibley down already.

Jamie Smith faces his first ball from Josh Hull and prods it into the leg side on a very green looking track.

  19. Under way at Headingleypublished at 11:10 BST 10 April

    Yorks v Hants 0-0

Big shout early for Jhye Richardson against Nick Gubbins but the umpire is unmoved. Ben Coad has flown one oh so close to the edge of Joe Weatherley as well.

Richardson is one of two changes for the White Rose with Harry Duke coming in to replace Logan van Beek and Will Luxton for the hosts.

Hampshire are happy that the XI they chose against Essex have it in them to bounce back and make no changes.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:08 BST 10 April

    Wells c Reece b Aitchison 4 (Lancs 5-1 v Derbys

Early breakthrough for the visitors as Luke Wells fends a rising ball from Ben Aitchison and is grabbed well low to his left by Luis Reece at third slip.
