  1. Eng 38-1published at 3.2 overs

Matthews turns to Ashmini Munisar to try and regain some control.

Her second ball is reverse swept for four by Dunkley. That's not what the captain ordered.

This is a bit of a shocker for West Indies. if you really want to get into the game, yes take the wicket but they really need to back it up.

  3. Eng 34-1published at 3 overs

    Eeek, that was a shocker.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge carves another wide ball for four, before she drives sweetly through the covers for three after a brilliant diving effort from Jahzara Claxton on the boundary.

17 off the over and Hayley Matthews has plenty to think about.

  4. Eng 26-1published at 2.3 overs

This is turning into a honking over.

Three wides follow the opening boundary.

  5. Eng 21-1published at 2.1 overs

I'm not sure this would've been the game plan when West Indies chose to bowl first.

Again, Chinelle Henry bangs the ball in short but the pace is nowhere near threatening enough and Danni Wyatt-Hodge hammers it to the ropes.

Another early dismissal for Amy Jones in this tournament, that was the first delivery that had a significant amount of swing movement today. In T20s since 2025, Jones has averaged just 6.75 against outswinging deliveries at a strike-rate of 79.

  7. Eng 17-1published at 2 overs

    Lovely innovation.

Matthews corrects her line and keeps targeting stumps, so Dunkley shuffles across and sweeps for four more.

  8. Eng 13-1published at 1.2 overs

West Indies' skipper Hayley Matthews shares the new ball, and her second ball is too short and pulled for four by Sophia Dunkley.

    Another poor delivery is punished.

A crowd of more than 18,000 was expected for this game before the weather warnings and extreme heat. It's fair to say there are a lot less than that here.

Chinelle Henry was fired up then and you can see why. That ball was swinging, even though it was wide, it kept moving and Jones just fell into the trap.

  11. Eng 8-1published at 1 over

Sophia Dunkley, who is in for Nat Sciver-Brunt and scored a fifty against Scotland a few days ago, joins Danni Wyatt-Hodge and safely defends her first ball.

    Sigh. That is soft.

Having just hit consecutive fours to put West Indies under pressure, Amy Jones plays a loose drive to a very wide delivery and the edge flies straight to point.

    Chinelle Henry roars in delight.

  13. Eng 8-0published at 0.3 overs

    Back-to-back!

It's horrible bowling. Amy Jones is being given free runs here.

This is a huge game and the most testing game. There will be a bit of history in it, from the last World Cup with the West Indies knocking the England team out.

  15. Eng 4-0published at 0.2 overs

Well, that is a gift for Amy Jones.

Pitched halfway down the pitch from Henry, and Jones helps it on its way to the square leg boundary with ease.

Anthems are done, and we're good to go.

Hayley Matthews gives a passionate team talk in the West Indies' huddle before England openers Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt-Hodge make their way to the middle.

All-rounder Chinelle Henry will bowl the first over.

I can confirm it is absolutely boiling at Lord's. Charlie Dean said yesterday the team will use F1 cooling vests and ice packs to try and deal with the temperatures.

The TV cameras have been under umbrellas all afternoon to try and keep cool and the attendance is surely going to be impacted.

I can confirm we'll still have the usual pyrotechnics and flame throwers despite the heat.

Historically, batting first has not been favourable in Women's T20s at Lord's. Since the start of 2024, teams batting first have won just five of the 16 games here (with one finishing as a tie). England, though, have been a good batting first side of late; they have won six of their last seven T20Is where they have batted first.

As I'm sure many of you remember (or have tried to forget), it was a pretty eventful match the last time these two met at a T20 World Cup.

England wilted in Dubai and were knocked out at the end of the group stage, dropping five catches along the way as Qiana Joseph and Hayley Matthews ran riot.

The defeat led to intense criticism of Jon Lewis' England in terms of their fielding, fitness and ability to perform under pressure.

The disastrous 2025 Ashes followed a similar theme but Charlotte Edwards has helped them turn things around in those departments over the past year.

A 3-0 T20 thrashing of West Indies was the result of Edwards' first series in charge last summer.
