WICKETpublished at 12:27 BST 3 May

    Middleton lbw b ul-Hassan 5 (Hants 100-3 v Glam 536-7d)

This is angled in and Fletcha Middleton has over-balanced trying to tuck it into the leg side.

He misses and it hits in front of middle and leg and Zain-ul-Hassan has a wicket to go with his century with the bat.

  2. Should Gay open for England?published at 12:27 BST 3 May

    Middlesex 430 v Durham 199-2

Durham batter Emilio Gay is up to 94 at Lord's.

Would you like to see Gay opening the batting for England in the first Test against New Zealand next month?

Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  3. Postpublished at 12:26 BST 3 May

    Surrey 374-5 v Sussex 358-9 dec

Adam Thomas is the new Surrey batter, after Jamie Smith's departure.

He's 19, and making his first-class debut, after recent half-centuries in second XI cricket against Worcestershire and Hampshire.

Thomas takes 11 balls to get off the mark, including navigating a full over from Ollie Robinson, but a single off Jack Carson is his first run in first-class cricket.

    That was irresponsible.

It was a brilliant bit of cricket by Sussex and good captaincy by Ollie Robinson, but I can not believe that an England player has played that shot.

Robinson's moved himself back and Jamie Smith's hit it straight down his throat. It's extraordinary.

    That beggars belief!

I think there is a stigma around both Sibley and Hameed. England do not need a young batsman who has buckets of potential, what they need is the best opener in the country and has been for a couple years. So what if he is defensive, he does the job

    Leics 281-9 v Notts 490

Steve Eskinazi is down to his last partner as he seeks to reach three figures but in Josh Hull he has one capable of getting him there.

Hull has a top score of 35 not out but he needs to stick around while the former Middlesex man, who left Lord's for Grace Road last September, gets another 21 runs.

Of more pressing importance is a second batting bonus point which is just 19 runs away. Both would be nice.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:17 BST 3 May

    Smith c Robinson b Carson 8 (Surrey 371-5 v Sussex 358-9 dec)

Brilliant captaincy, this, from Ollie Robinson.

He's encouraged Jack Carson to keep tempting the Surrey batters - and Jamie Smith, like Dan Lawrence before him, has fallen for it.

First, Smith was fortunate to get enough on an aggressive shot to get it over the head of Robinson for two.

Two balls later, he tries it again - but Robinson has stepped back 10 yards and Smith just slaps it straight down the skipper's throat.

  8. Postpublished at 12:14 BST 3 May

    Surrey 368-4 v Sussex 358-9 dec

Big sigh of relief for Jamie Smith.

Tom Clark induces a healthy edge but the ball dies just before wicket-keeper John Simpson's gloves.

Smith then rubs salt into the wounds by clipping a straight delivery to the mid-wicket boundary.

  9. 'The game is moving along at pace'published at 12:12 BST 3 May

    Surrey 363-3 v Sussex 358-9 dec

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

Sussex have got another six overs or so, if they can come out into a two bonus bowling points to go the three batting, they'll feel very pleased.

With wickets falling the morning, the game is moving along at pace.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:07 BST 3 May

    Lawrence c Hughes b Carson 13 (Surrey 363-3 v Sussex 358-9 dec)

Dan Lawrence loses his wicketImage source, Shutterstock

One shot too many for Dan Lawrence.

He is aiming to move the game on, and tries to launch Jack Carson towards Camberwell. But the bat turns in his hand and he only succeeds in spooning it up to deep mid-on, where Daniel Hughes comes in off the boundary to take the catch.

    Jamie Smith next in.

  11. Postpublished at 12:05 BST 3 May

Yorks 82-2 (trail Somerset by 30 runs)

At Taunton, Migael Pretorius goes full Stuart Broad celebrappeal as a ball raps James Wharton on the pads - but the umpire isn't convinced.

Replays show Pretorius was a little too keen. It was clearly outside the line and probably a tad high.

  12. 'It's been a long time coming'published at 12:04 BST 3 May

    Leics 266-9 v Notts 490

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Notts do have the wicket, eventually. It's been a long time coming.

It's been a terrific effort from this pair.

A second in the innings at mid-wicket for Haseeb Hameed and a third in the innings for Dillon Pennington.

Notts do get maximum bowing bonus points.

  13. 6 runs

Surrey in frontpublished at 12:03 BST 3 May

    Surrey 360-3 v Sussex 358-9 dec

Dom Sibley goes aerial this time!

Jack Carson is brought into the attack and Sibley decides to launch him downtown, over the long off boundary.

Of the 10,016 runs Sibley has scored in first-class cricket, that is only his 27th maximum. That's about two every season.

  14. Postpublished at 11:56 BST 3 May

Surrey 354-3 (trail Sussex by 4 runs)

Big appeal against Dan Lawrence as he comes right across his stumps and the ball deflects off his left thigh, before going down to the fine-leg boundary for four leg byes.

Height the issue, you would think, but Lawrence is clearly keen to play some creative shots as Surrey hunt a sizeable lead.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:55 BST 3 May

    Patel c Hameed b Pennington 62 (Leics 266-9 v Notts 490)

An entertaining knock and one where the handbrake remained untouched throughout is brought to an end as Ajaz Patel tries to smash Dillon Pennington over long on and gets a top edge.

Haseeb Hameed does the honours at midwicket and the batsman slams his bat into his pad in frustration at a possible century left out there.

Still he has shared a 120-run partnership with Steve Eskinazi which has pulled Leics away from the edge in this match.

  16. 350 for Surreypublished at 11:54 BST 3 May

Surrey 350-3 (trail Sussex by 8 runs)

And there is Surrey's third batting bonus point, their sixth of the match.

Dom Sibley pushes Henry Crocombe into the leg side for a quick single, moving to 134 not out.

The 350 was brought up after 100 overs and one ball.

  17. 6 runs

Postpublished at 11:52 BST 3 May

Surrey 346-3 (trail Sussex by 12 runs)

Dan Lawrence isn't going to let Ollie Robinson settle.

He take a couple of short strides, rotates his wrists and unleashes a stunning shot over backward point which goes all the way for six.

  18. Postpublished at 11:51 BST 3 May

    Leics 265-8 v Notts 490

Ajaz Patel rocks back on his heel, spins and unleashes a flamboyant pull shot off James Hayes which races to midwicket boundary.

Great shot but his attempt to repeat the dose next ball is well stopped at midwicket by Olly Stone.

A shy at the stumps as the batsmen attempt then abort a single misses. Entertainingly chaotic stuff.

Only Hampshire batsmen would make batting on the M3 look tough

    Lawrence - Basingstoke

  20. Postpublished at 11:49 BST 3 May

Surrey 338-3 (trail Sussex by 20 runs)

Surrey are edging closer to another batting bonus point. Dan Lawrence, the new batter, whips Henry Crocombe to the fence for his first boundary.
