That's it from me for now as I head for a quick break

But my colleague Sam Drury is on hand to take you through the opening stages of England's chase.

    Over to you, Sam.

Scotland's 152 looks to be below par relative to previous matches here in Kolkata - since 2022, 157 is the lowest successfully defended score here across T20I and IPL cricket.

Disappointing end to the innings and for the last eight over for Scotland. Olly Davidson provided a glimmer of light but really it's been all England since the 12 over.

They've executed spin and seam and they really turned the screws on Scotland and ultimately they're below par.

  4. England need 153 runs to winpublished at 19.4 overs

Currie run out (Brook/Buttler) 2 (Sco 152 all out)

Scotland fail to bat through the full overs as Brad Currie is run out after Olly Davidson only managed to send Sam Curran to mid-off.

It means England need 153 runs to win to bounce back from that defeat by West Indies and keep their Super 8 hopes alive.

  5. Sco 152-9published at 19.3 overs

Sam Curran's final over begins with back-to-back singles.

Then Olly Davidson swings at a slower ball and misses to pile more pressure on Scotland.

Scotland were in such a great position with Tom Bruce and Richie Berrington going well but when they lost five wickets for just 14 runs it really was the demise.

It's just damage limitation now but it's any runs they can get now.

  7. Sco 150-9published at 19 overs

New batter Brad Currie defends Jamie Overton's final ball of the penultimate over.

It means the England seamer concedes just two runs and picks up a wicket off the 19th over to finish with 1-23.

The way that Olly Davidson has been hitting it, you'd imagine that Brad Wheal has been playing the supporting act to someone who has found the middle of the bat so your job should be just to hit a single.

England will want to wrap this up before the end of the allotted overs.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.1 overs

    Wheal c Jacks b Overton 2 (Sco 148-9)

Brad Wheal, facing his third ball of the innings, wants to join the party.

But his aerial shot goes only as far as Will Jacks at long-on.

England now one wicket away from bundling out the Scots.

  10. Sco 148-8published at 18 overs

Sam Curran helped England edge past Nepal in their opener with some sharp death bowling.

But Olly Davidson takes him on here with two boundaries, including a reverse ramp through third off the final ball to make it 10 runs from the over.

  11. Sco 138-8published at 17 overs

Olly Davidson reads a slower ball from Jofra Archer early and sends it over mid-wicket for a maximum.

Archer doesn't find a third wicket. He finishes with 2-24, having accounted for two crucial early wickets.

This over from Jofra Archer does not look very fun for Olly Davidson.

  13. Sco 129-8published at 16.3 overs

Jofra Archer is back to bowl his fourth and final over.

And he's testing new batter Olly Davidson with two yorkers already.

I am a very average club cricketer here in Scotland, listening from Edinburgh. RE how many are listening from Scotland, I have often heard that there are more cricket clubs in Scotland than rugby clubs; perhaps the stats gurus could explore if there’s any truth in the claim?

England would have been flapping around the 10th over but they have kept hunting wickets and it's counted in their favour. Scotland are miles of what should be a competitive total.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16 overs

    Watt b Rashid 2 (Sco 127-8)

    Bowled him!

Adil Rashid has two in three balls as the England spinner has Mark Watt completely done for.

The ball spins through the gate to knock back Watt's stumps as he finishes with figures of 3-36.

It's just those early wickets, three down in the powerplay, three of your best players gone. It's the big foundation that Scotland missed out on.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.4 overs

    Cross c Banton b Rashid 8 (Sco 126-7)

A similar dismissal as this time it's Matthew Cross who departs after offering an easy catch for Tom Banton.

Scotland in all sorts of trouble here.

  19. Sco 126-6published at 15 overs

Mark Watt was one of Scotland's heroes as they beat England in that famous ODI back in 2018.

They'll need him to contribute big again if they are to find a way back here.

That's disappointing for Scotland and Michael Leask. He was the last hope they had for somebody who could take the game to England and propel them to a highly competitive total.

I felt like he was in two minds there and ultimately he played a nothing shot and it lead to his wicket. It's a slow, sorry walk off from Leask.
