Tom Banton is under a bit of pressure. Two games, two low scores and he hasn't looked convincing. He's yet to make an impact on this tournament.

  2. 6 runs

    Eng 37-2published at 5 overs

    Target 153

This is much more like it from Jacob Bethell!

The left-hander gets himself going by smoking a flat six over deep mid-wicket midway through the Brandon McMullen over.

He follows that up with a delicate shot, guided just past short third before crunching a cut shot for four more next ball.

England and Bethell should feel much better after that over, 16 from it.

Scotland need to continue how they've bowled in these first four over, keep the squeeze on, stay calm especially if England do develop a bit of a partnership and the boundaries start flowing.

It's been a really fantastic start from Scotland but there will be a phase in the game where England take momentum and Scotland need to stay in it and wrestle it back.

  4. dropped catch

Bethell dropped on 7published at 4.1 overs

    Eng 21-2 | Target 153

Very, very tough chance for Matthew Cross, stood up to the stumps.

No real foot movement from Jacob Bethell as he goes back and gets an outside edge.

No time for Cross to react but the ball flicks his gloves then his pad before running away to allow England to run two.

Scotland's shaky start not looking so bad now. Come on Scotland!

    Target 153

Very scratchy start from England. The early wickets obviously don't help but Jacob Bethell, in particular, has struggled to time the ball so far.

Just five from Brad Currie's second over - good stuff from the left-arm seamer - and we've still not had a boundary off the bat in the chase as yet.

Scotland have a perfect 100% catching record so far in this T20 World Cup, taking all 15 of the opportunities they've created. Only South Africa (13/13) also have a clean record.

  8. Eng 16-2published at 3 overs

    Target 153

There's every reason to believe now, Rehan. Scotland's opening bowlers have been superb so far.

England don't have to panic just yet, though. This is a good pitch and the target is a fairly modest one.

Was hoping Scotland could avenge the no result in the last World Cup but doesn't seem like that's happening. Still believing for Scotland.

You don't see Jos Buttler giving his wicket away like this very often in the powerplay.

Scotland have really tightened the screws and they've been right on the money. McMullen is a brilliant fielder, it's not easy running backwards but he's made it look easy.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2 overs

    Buttler c McMullen b Currie 3 (Eng 13-2)

    Massive wicket for Brad Currie!

England are under pressure now! Jos Buttler tries to hit over the top but doesn't get hold of it at all.

It looks like he might just have got away with it as the ball sails it and over mid-off.

But no, Brandon McMullen runs back and takes an excellent catch as the ball drops over his shoulder.

  12. Eng 13-1published at 1.5 overs

    Target 153

Brad Currie has to wait to bowl his first ball with plenty of fans walking behind the bowler's arm. But when he does, he starts with a beauty, hooping back in to strike Jos Buttler on the pad.

Big appeal but there was a littler inside edge and England take a single.

Buttler clips for two later in the over to reach 4,000 runs in T20 internationals. Only Babar Azam, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have more than that.

Keeper comes up to the stumps late in the over but it proves costly... five wides down the leg side.

That's the ninth time Phil Salt has been dismissed inside the first over for England in a T20I in just his 46th innings as an opener.

  14. Eng 4-1published at 1 over

    Target 153

Some lovely shape for Brandon McMullen in that first over and the key wicket of Phil Salt.

Jacob Bethell is the new batter for England and the left-hander is off the mark with a clip through mid-wicket from the last ball of the over.

It's exactly what we've been calling for if this game is going to take off and give us the excitement like some of the previous games in the World Cup. It was going to require early wickets.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.3 overs

    Salt c Bruce b McMullen 2 (Eng 2-1)

    Perfect start for Scotland!

A hint of movement away from Brandon McMullen and Phil Salt just chips it straight to Tom Bruce cover.

Big wicket early on. The dangerous Salt is gone and Scotland have renewed hope.

  17. Eng 2-0published at 0.2 overs

    Target 153

England are up and running after a slight misfield second ball. That allows Phil Salt two through the covers.

  18. Postpublished at 11:18 GMT 14 February

No messing around, the players are back out already at Eden Gardens.

You'd expect Phil Salt and Jos Buttler to try and get ahead of the rate pretty quickly.

Let's be honest, England chasing any target is always going to be nerve-racking.

    Thanks, Adwaidh.

A good first half for England, then, especially given how good a pitch this looks for batting.

Scotland will be frustrated to have fallen away after initially recovering so well from losing those three early wickets.

Harry Brook's side will be confident of knocking off these runs but you never know, a bit of early pressure from Scotland and it could get tricky...
