    71 needed off 60 balls

England captain Harry Brook joins Tom Banton in the middle.

They'll want their skipper to steady things and guide this chase from here on.

My daughter and I are both listening from our respective homes in Yorkshire. Both supporting England, but my father's mum was from Scotland and I am appreciating Scotland's excellent showing in this tournament.

A big partnership from Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton was just developing nicely enough to take the game out of Scotland's reach. That wicket comes in a timely manner.

A big wicket for Scotland this!

Just when we thought England were back on firm footing, they've lost ground again with the departure of Jacob Bethell.

He goes for a slog-sweep but only hits straight at backward point - Olly Davidson with an immediate impact for Scotland.

That one Mark Watt over has seen Scotland go from a 36% chance of victory after eight overs to just 18% after nine...

    77 needed off 66 balls

Mark Watt wraps up the over with three runs from the final three balls, but he still goes for 22 in his first over.

England look to be back in control once again.

Putting together the last parts of nursery furniture for a new arrival in a few weeks. I joined England in struggling early but seem to have found my stride now!

Mark Watt came into bowl inside the powerplay during Scotland's first two games at this World Cup but was held back until the ninth over today.

Both Tom Banton (147) and Jacob Bethell (161) have strong strike rates against left-arm spin in T20 cricket.

  9. 6 runs

    Eng 73-2published at 8.3 overs

    Target 153

And it's more pressure on Mark Watt as Tom Banton now targets the boundary at mid-wicket and clears it comfortably.

That's 19 runs from the first three deliveries of Watt's over, including a wide!

That's a statement of intent from Tom Banton, that's how he's going to play the spin. He's evidently decided this is the point he's going. He's put Mark Watt under pressure.

  11. 6 runs

    Eng 66-2published at 8.2 overs

    Target 153

Back-to-back sixes for Tom Banton off Mark Watt.

That would do to his confidence a world of good!

  12. Eng 54-2published at 8 overs

    Target 153

Only two runs from a brilliant over from Brad Wheal.

Jacob Bethell's pull lands just short of the fielder at mid-on before Tom Banton is denied a certain boundary by a good piece of fielding by Mark Watt at backward square.

At least, England have got the required runs down to double figures.

You feel the game is teetering here, it's one or two big England overs away from it getting out of hand for Scotland.

That's the nature of having a below par total on the board.

Tom Banton needs a match-defining score here. Yes, he got a good fifty in Sri Lanka before this tournament but, for a man with obvious talent, he has never really played a big innings for his country in his previous 36 internationals.

He's being preferred to Ben Duckett in this XI. Some would say Joe Root should be in his place.

  16. Eng 52-2published at 7 overs

    Target 153

Tom Banton is yet to hit this stride at the Eden Gardens but it's a welcome boundary for the England batter.

He takes a couple of steps forward to meet Michael Leask's delivery and whacks it over long-on with a slightly agricultural swing but gets the job done.

  17. Eng 43-2published at 6.1 overs

    Target 153

With more fielders allowed outside the ring after the powerplay, Scotland introduce spin for the first time today.

It's Michael Leask with his off-spin to test the England batters.

    Thanks, Sam.

Not an ideal start for England at all, but Jacob Bethell has played a few confident strokes to help steady things a touch.

But a couple more wickets and Scotland will really fancy their chances here.

  19. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 6 overs

    Eng 43-2 | Target 153

As the players take drinks, it's time for me to hand you back over to Adwaidh Rajan.

England still favourites but Scotland have shown they can make this pretty nervy for Harry Brook's side.

  20. Eng 43-2published at 6 overs

    Target 153

Brad Wheal comes into the attack for Scotland and finds a bit of extra bounce.

Jacob Bethell looks to have got four more by angling the ball down to deep third but some excellent work from Michael Leask on the boundary keeps him to two.

Another single ends the powerplay. They're a run and a wicket better off that Scotland were at the same stage.
