I have no idea why Jones opens the batting. There are much better options.

Sophia needs to stake her claim for a regular place tonight. All too often gets in, gets going, get out to a very poor shot. Good luck to her tonight.

Lovely slog sweep from Dunkley to end the over. Great use of the feet by her.

  3. 6 runs

    Eng 14-1published at 3 overs

Moments after being dropped, Sophia Dunkley tonks Kathryn Bryce for six, the ball crashing into the boundary cushion. Classic.

I tell you what, that was nearly the catch of the tournament from Chatterji. Full length dive, it sticks, but as she hits the floor it just dropped out. You would never be expecting the ball in the position she was in.

  5. dropped catch

Dropped catch - Dunkley on 4published at 2.4 overs

Ohhhh that's so unlucky for Priyanaz Chatterji! She nearly takes a fabulous diving catch at fine leg but although she gets her left hand to it, the ball pops out.

A let off for Sophia Dunkley, who comes through for a single.

  6. Eng 6-1published at 2.2 overs

Scotland do indeed switch up their bowling attack, with captain Kathryn Bryce bringing herself into the attack.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge looks a bit uncomfy first up and then takes a single.

Brilliant start from Scotland. I wouldn't bowl Kirstie Gordon again though, the plan worked, now go back to your original bowler. For me, Danni Wyatt-Hodge can be quite vulnerable to the swing inside.

  8. Eng 5-1published at 2 overs

Katherine Sciver-Brunt was expecting fireworks from England but instead, it's all been a little skittish from the batting side.

Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge um and ah over a mid-over single (they wisely decide against it) and then Dunkley is beaten for pace by a smiling Gabriella Fontenla.

Kirstie Gordon’s dismissal of Amy Jones was the sixth instance of a batter being dismissed on the very first ball of a match at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

A crowd of more than 10,000 is expected at Headingley tonight. They actually had to open the gates early because too many people were waiting outside.

    Great start for Scotland.

  12. Eng 1-1published at 1 over

Sophia Dunkley picks up England's first run off the penultimate delivery of the over, picking up a single through square leg.

It's the only run in an excellent opening over from Kirstie Gordon.

That is exactly why Kirstie Gordon has opened the game. It's not the best delivery to start your spell but it's in the air, great catch from McColl.

    Jones c McColl b Gordon 0 (Eng 0-1)

Kirstie Gordon strikes with her opening delivery against her former team!

Amy Jones drives into the covers and Megan McColl gets down low to take the catch.

Starting with spin has immediately paid off for Scotland.

I like the fact that Scotland are bowling first. It's their best chance of winning. England wanted to bat first anyway, they'll have a chance to put up a big score and can look to defend it.

I'm expecting fireworks from England. They'll be making the most of batting out on this pitch at Headingley. They'll want to tuck in. If you do get out here, it does feel like you're missing out.

It looks a bit flat out there, a bit dead, so they should be able to do something with it.

The anthems are done and the players have made their way onto the field.

Kirstie Gordon has the ball for Scotland, who won the toss and elected to bowl.

Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt-Hodge are opening the batting for England.
