  1. Can Foxes gain substantial lead?published at 15:21 BST 26 April

    Glamorgan 440 v Leics 380-4

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Leicestershire are closing in on a first innings lead and a fourth batting point on a slightly soporific afternoon in Cardiff, but it remains to be seen whether they can get a lead substantial enough and soon enough to put pressure on the hosts.

Lewis Hill and Ian Holland added a solid 83 before a spell of short-pitched bowling with the new ball from the Australian Ryan Hadley paid dividends, Holland uppercutting to third man and Hill playing on for 42 to halt the momentum.

The home bowlers were unable to keep up the threat as Jonny Tattersall and Stephen Eskinazi knocked the ball around in a half-century stand, without too many risks.

Still in question are the plans for Jake Weatherald, who went off with cramp last night but did not re-appear in the first half of the day.

    Root c Simpson b Crocombe 96 (Yorkshire 395-6 v Sussex 502)

    No century for Joe Root.

It had looked inevitable that the Yorkshire and England batter would make it to 100 but he falls four runs short after pushing at Henry Crocombe's delivery and sending a thin edge through to John Simpson.

Root taps the pitch with his bat a couple of times where the ball pitched and gestures to George Hill that it just jumped up a bit more than he was expecting.

A fine innings as you would expect, but no century.

A lot of supporters came here to watch Root bat you suspect and they give him a warm round of applause as he departs.

  3. Division Two latestpublished at 15:15 BST 26 April

Michael Jones and Paul Coughlin are going along nicely for Lancashire, whose lead over Durham has just passed 200.

Lancashire are 131-6 in their second innings with both batters in the 30s.

Kent keeper Chris Benjamin has just reached fifty at Worcestershire but his side are still in heaps of trouble. They're 191-7 and still require another 60 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

Derbyshire continue to struggle at Gloucestershire reaching 273-9 in their first innings in reply to the visitors' 498 all out.

WICKETpublished at 15:10 BST 26 April

    Lawrence c Cook b Thain 125 (Surrey 367-6 v Essex 409)

    Noah Thain gets his man!

Thain had dropped a difficult caught and bowled chance from Dan Lawrence earlier in the over, which clearly stung the fingers of his left hand - but the Essex seamer soon turned pain into joy.

Lawrence is tempted to pull a short one and hoiks it straight down the throat of the fielder at deep midwicket to bring his impressive knock to an end.

Tom Lawes is next in for Surrey, with the deficit down to 42.

  5. Postpublished at 15:05 BST 26 April

    Surrey 364-5 v Essex 409

A little frustration creeping in for the Surrey batters, who are looking to accelerate but have misjudged the pace of the wicket a couple of times in the last few overs.

Jordan Clark and Dan Lawrence both visibly annoyed with themselves after missing out on scoring opportunities but, with that said, the deficit is now down to 45.

Surrey could well be in front by tea, then it's a case of whether they can build a significant advantage during the final session.

  6. 350 up for Leicestershirepublished at 15:02 BST 26 April

    Glamorgan 440 v Leicestershire 367-4

Jonny Tattersall and Stephen Eskinazi have steadied things for the Foxes after those two quick wickets early in the afternoon session.

The duo have seen the visitors through to a third batting point in 95.1 overs.

Re the Hameed debate. As one brought up in the Boycott and Gooch era I would just love us to have proper openers. Not quite like we have atm..

    Yorkshire 370-5 v Sussex 502

Consecutive fours for Joe Root as he moves on to 89.

  9. Postpublished at 14:52 BST 26 April

    Surrey 354-5 v Essex 409

Jordan Clark should be just the man to hurry this game along a bit and he's started nicely with 12 from his first 13 balls.

Clark's late cut off Matt Critchley races to the rope as the scoreboard passes 350 and Surrey close in the Essex total.

  10. 'Revis lured into that one'published at 14:51 BST 26 April

    Yorkshire 354-5 v Sussex 502

    Liam Thomas
    BBC Radio Leeds commentator

Matthew Revis will be disappointed with that one there.

He was lured into that one.

It was a good partnership worth a good amount of runs.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:49 BST 26 April

    Slater c Mousley b Webster 49 (Notts 118-1 (f/o) & 279 v Warks 459)

Ben Slater is gone for 48, caught by Dan Mousley off the bowling of Beau Webster.

A frustrating dismissal for the left-hander, who is caught at point off a short and wide delivery.

His first loose shot of his innings brings his demise, and out comes fellow left-hander Ben Duckett to replace him

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:48 BST 26 April

    Revis c Robinson b Coles 42 (Yorkshire 353-5 v Sussex 502)

No sooner have Yorkshire reached 350 then they lose their fifth wicket.

The 86 partnership of Joe Root and Matthew Revis comes to an end as the latter is caught behind.

James Coles gives the ball a little more air and it catches out Revis who clips it to Ollie Robinson at slip.

Coles has 2-84 from his 22 overs.

Yorkshire are now 149 behind with five wickets intact.

  13. Postpublished at 14:45 BST 26 April

    Yorkshire 353-4 v Sussex 502 - Yorkshire trail by 149

Three batting points in the bag for Yorkshire and five for the match as a whole.

Sussex also have five as it stands.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:40 BST 26 April

    Foakes b Critchley 33 (Surrey 341-5 v Essex 409)

As we said, Essex did need a wicket... and Ben Foakes has gone.

It's a flat delivery from Matt Critchley that doesn't turn but barely gets above ankle height and thuds into middle stump.

Jordan Clark is the new man in for Surrey, who now trail by 68.

  15. Hameed for England?published at 14:39 BST 26 April

  16. 'Root is a joy to watch'published at 14:38 BST 26 April

    Yorkshire 337-4 v Sussex 502

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

There's just a joyous elegance about how Joe Root goes about his game.

He's such a joy to watch.

Yorkshire are looking comfortable here at the moment.

  17. 50 runs

for Haseeb Hameedpublished at 14:36 BST 26 April

    Notts 107-0 (f/o) & 279 v Warks 459

Haseeb Hameed scampers for a quick single off the bowling of Chris Woakes to bring up his half-century off 128 balls.

A watchful innings, certainly an important one, from the Notts skipper.

He will be relieved and determined to continue to steer Notts towards a more favourable position here.

The defending champions still trail by 73.

  18. Postpublished at 14:34 BST 26 April

    Yorkshire 337-4 v Sussex 502

    Shot...

Matthew Revis just leans on it and sends a beautiful stroke through the covers.

He and Joe Root are looking comfortable at this stage of proceedings.

    Yorkshire trail by 165.

  19. Postpublished at 14:29 BST 26 April

    Surrey 330-4 v Essex 409

No batter with any regard for superstition enjoys being on 'Nelson' - 111 - so Dan Lawrence has made sure he moved off that number in emphatic style.

Matt Critchley is on for a spell at the moment with his leg-breaks, but Lawrence shows little respect for his fellow spinner, launching him over long-on for six.

Certainly getting to that point where Essex need another wicket, with Ben Foakes now trundling along nicely as well.

  20. 100 partnership for Hameed and Slaterpublished at 14:25 BST 26 April

    Notts 100-0 (f/o) & 279 v Warks 459

A hundred up for Notts and the hundred partnership for Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater!

The pair have played really smart and composed cricket. There hasn't been too much in it for the Bears seamers, and the Notts opening pair have remained relatively untroubled.

Nottinghamshire now trail by 79 runs, and find themselves in a more positive position than they were in at 11:30am this morning.
