Now we don't have any fancy graphics for the teams, but essentially lots of massive blokes are padding up and smashing into each other for the next few hours.

Beyond that, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was listed as limited in practice as late as Friday due to a shoulder injury. No way he's missing this though.

Linebacker Robert Spillane and edge rusher Harold Landry were questionable but are likely to play.

On the Seahawks side, rookie safety Nick Emmanwori, who has been outstanding this year, will play despite an ankle injury that has caused him to miss practice this week.

Earlier in the play-offs, quarterback Sam Darnold was battling an oblique injury - for you non-medical people, that's down the side of your abdomen.

He seems to have played through that and will be good to go.

Hugh Ferris: Predicting who is going to win the Super Bowl should be an exercise of head over heart, and yet the build-up tends to be dominated by narratives, not number-crunching. Well, I'm falling for it. The redemption story of Sam Darnold, plus the opportunity for the Seahawks to punch it in a little more successfully than they did against the same opponents at the end of Super Bowl XLIX is too good to ignore.

Despite Seattle's number one defence, it's been their offence that has carried them through the close games in recent weeks, and Darnold's steady performance against the Rams' pass rush in the NFC title game (having struggled against the same team and players in the play-offs a year ago with the Vikings) makes me think he'll handle the Patriots, and the occasion. He might be seeing glory instead of ghosts this time.

Seattle's awesome defence, known as the Dark Side, has been the main topic of discussion during Super Bowl week. Drake Maye has shown the ability to scramble and escape the pressure but I think the Seahawks will bring too much heat and stifle the Patriots quarterback.

He has already taken the second-most sacks in a single post-season (15) and I reckon Seattle will force him past Joe Burrow's record tally of 19.

New England's defence isn't too shabby either so I expect it to be a tight, low-scoring affair before Seattle go clear late in the third quarter or early in the fourth to clinch it.

    Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl season

A record for Sam Darnold as he became the first QB to have back-to-back 14-win seasons with two different teams as he proved last year in Minnesota was no fluke.

Yes, Darnold led the league for turnovers but he was slinging it everywhere early on as Jaxon Smith-Njigba ran riot. Later in the season they began to run it better and the QB was able to take more of a back seat.

The defence topped the league in points allowed and they showed character after losing a heartbreaker at home to the Rams in November - as that would be their last defeat of the season.

They finished with a whopping +191 points difference in what was a quietly dominant season that really should have made more headlines - after all they only lost three games and by a combined NINE (9) points.

Both regular and advanced stats are superb and if they win tonight this will go down as one of the top season performances on record.

  7. Patriots story of the seasonpublished at 22:45 GMT 8 February

Yes, I know, the schedule! The Pats faced nine teams who changed head coach at the end of the season, which is never a sign of a quality campaign is it?

But, trust me, stringing together 10 wins in a row and 13 out of 14 is no easy task in the NFL!

It didn't start great did it, losing to the Raiders who would end up the season with the number one overall pick of the draft - New England will be the first team to do that and win a Super Bowl if they're successful tonight.

Drake Maye was uber accurate in the regular season and the defence improved as they went along, before stepping it up big time in the play-offs.

Mike Vrabel's side are ahead of schedule after two 4-13 seasons and they're the fifth team to appear in the Super Bowl the season after winning fewer than five games, and looking to become just the third team since 2002 to win the Super Bowl the season after finishing in last place in their division.

They're big underdogs tonight - but something tells me that's just how they like it.

New England's rebuild under Mike Vrabel included adding a little star quality to their offence with Stefon Diggs joining his third team in three years - and fourth in his 11 seasons in the NFL.

The 32-year-old wide receiver is now playing in his first Super Bowl and said this week: "I've talked about notoriety and legacy, and this is one of those things that help your journey. It's been a long journey, a long time just to get here, and that's why I can't swayed or distracted.

"It's the same way I prepare each and every week," he added. "I'm not excited at all. I feel like excitement is a bit of a different emotion. It's what I feel when I buy a car or buy a watch.

"Right now I just want to work. I'm taking one day at a time. I'm not going to make it more or less than what it is. I've got to have the same mindset I've had. I don't want to switch up the macaroni and cheese, and do stuff I don't typically do. I ain't doing nothing different."

  9. How Darnold 'unlocked something mentally'published at 22:43 GMT 8 February

Consistency was an issue for Sam Darnold early in his career as he threw far too many interceptions. But he matured with Minnesota last season, leading them into the play-offs.

The 28-year-old quarterback has stepped up again with Seattle this season, and this week he explained how the Seahawks' dominance has helped.

He said: "The biggest thing for me is understanding situations - why we're calling the play, where my check-downs are at, getting through my progressions. And if I do get out [of the pocket] and scramble and I find someone open then great. If not, that's the benefit of having a great defence.

"I've always felt this season, especially in the latter half, that I never really had to force anything. That's key for me as a quarterback and kind of a security blanket.

"I can feel really confident in moving on to the next play and letting our special teams and defence go to work. It's understanding that you've just got to protect the football at all costs and being able to move on, as a quarterback, from there."

On how he overcame those issues early in his NFL career, he added: "It was just me, not being too hard on myself and being able to move on. Jerry Rice said 'you're never going to have the perfect day out there' and once you truly understand that, you can play free. I think that really unlocked something for me mentally, allowed me to play good football and be OK with things that happen out there."

This Seahawks defence has a lot to it and it feels like we haven't seen the best of Drake Maye in a lot of ways during the past two games. But you can see the attitude of this Seattle defence, they are ears back, aggressive, with great fundamentals and they take such pride in the little details.

Phil McGeoghan: You just don't understand the physicality that you're about to see from the Seahawks on Sunday. You know, I'm just telling you right now, it might not be close, right? This team is going to come out. We're going to be downhill running duo schemes inside zones. They're going to be going to take a deep shots down to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. But I love the tight-ends, what they're doing. I love the scheme. I love the continuity. But really the way Kenneth Walker's running with the football, he can catch fire in a heartbeat.

    Any guesses?

Well, it's only former Super Bowl winning running back Marshawn Lynch.

Lynch, or "Beast Mode" to us mere mortals won the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014, rushing for 39 yards and one touchdown in the 43-8 blowout of the Denver Broncos.

He was also part of the Seahawks team that lost to the New England Patriots the following year. Lynch went for over 100 yards that day but was denied a second ring by that famous final minute stand by the Patriots.

The former running back will be hoping his former side can avenge that loss today...
