Patriots quarterback Drake Maye sacked six times by Seattle's number one-ranked defence
First touchdown of game comes in fourth quarter, as tight-end AJ Barner hauls in Sam Darnold pass, following Maye fumble, to make it 19-0
Jason Myers kicks five field goals for Seahawks - a Super Bowl record
A 35-yard Mack Hollins TD gives Patriots a slim hope of a comeback

Hey Patriots fans, don't be too concerned if Drake Maye doesn't generate any points in this first quarter, as it's not everything.
Guess how many first quarter points Tom Brady managed across nine Super Bowls with the Patriots?

I think they can get after the QB better so will put Darnold under pressure in a way that I think Seahawks can't do to Maye with his mobility and X-factor. Seattle have done a really good job all season long but the mobile quarterbacks don't do as well. I've got the New England Patriots 23-17.

What an escape first of all by Sam Darnold and then Smith-Njigba escaped out of the back end and oh my goodness it was a walk-in touchdown!

Sam Darnold escapes from what should've been a sack, and then Jaxon Smith-Njigba escapes from all the coverage and is wide open but can't reach the bobble throw chucked up by Darnold!
It could've been a huge sack, it could've been a touchdown - in the end it's a punt.

Decent start by Aden Durde's defence, and what a match-up this could be.
"I think it's going to be a great game," he told me this week. "I think this is a team, the Patriots, that are tough, physical. They know how to win, they don't make mistakes. They know who they are and they're going to stand on that.
"I feel like Mike Macdonald's created a team that's very similar, and they know who they are. We have to just go out there and be ourselves."
Durde's defence sure did that on the Patriots' opening drive of the day.

The Patriots were doing such a good job there.
When you have a team bringing all out pressure like Seattle, you have to have an answer. You've got to get the ball out of your hands quickly, the Pats didn't do that, this is such a big loss for them.

Will Campbell and Jared Wilson are the first pair of rookies to start on an offensive line in Super Bowl history - and they've had a rough old start to the game dealing with Seattle's swarming defence.
Josh McDaniels will have to work on some schemes to take the pressure off, so expect a few more short quick passes to try and keep those dogs at bay.

Seattle and their creativity on the defence really saved that drive.

Tough start for Will Campbell who is beaten again on that left side.

Rookie left tackle Will Campbell is muscled out of the way by Derick Hall who then drops Drake Maye for the first sack of the game.

The loudest noise of the day (after the flyover) was the reception for Patriots' quarterback Drake Maye there. Deafening.

When Aden Durde took charge of the Seattle defence, Seahawks fans were hoping the British coach would create a new Legion of Boom.
That was the defence that led Seattle to their only previous Super Bowl win in 2014. And you know you're good when you've earned your own nickname. Durde's defensive unit has become known as the Dark Side.
"It's cool that the guys have that name, I love it," Durde told me this week. "I love that they're creating their old identity.
"The Legion of Boom is something you can never replicate. They are who they are and the fabric of the way they played the game is throughout our building.
"These guys push themselves not to replicate them, but to live up to a standard that they created and now they're getting their own identity."

Rhamondre Stevenson takes a hige checkdown pass out wide and just about gets the first down to move the sticks.
Almost the exact same play next up for DeMario Douglas who drops a nice shoulder to gain eight yards.

I get being aggressive, try and make Darnold beat you with his arm, but im not sure I'd be playing man [coverage] on JSN. He'll burn you eventually.

Smart plays here from Sam Darnold, nothing open, buys a little bit of time. Still no one open, don't have to force it right here. It's been a nice opening drive.
The biggest thing is they've got the momentum. The best thing is to feel good from the opening drive to set the tone.

Rhamondre Stevens with an inside run between the tackles as Drake Maye takes to the field to some decent noise from the Seahawks fans - definitely a home game atmosphere for Seattle.

The New England Patriots are not winning this game if they can't stop the running game of the Seattle Seahawks.
