You just do not need to do that in that situation. He just panics.

  2. Big flag!published at 02:43 GMT 26 January

Los Angeles Rams 27-31 Seattle Seahawks - fourth quarter

Sam Darnold rolls out and throws an incomplete pass - what a play call! But an even better throw for Seattle is the one the refs have just done with the flag for a holding penalty against the Rams.

There is no reason for the Seahawks to throw and put the ball in harm's way at this point.

Three minutes left and Kenneth Walker runs the ball. The Rams have no timeouts left so Seattle should just run this clock down as much as they can.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been quiet for a bit but when his side really needs him he breaks free and takes in another first-down catch.

Cooper Kupp gets the first down - just about! He also drops the ball as he hits the ground but he's ruled down by the refs so the drive moves on.

Los Angeles Rams 27-31 Seattle Seahawks - fourth quarter

Third down and eight coming up on the Seattle 28, so Mike Macdonald calls a time out and they'll just have a little think about things with just 3:20 left in this game.

Just over three minutes away from the Super Bowl, and a first down here will move them a lot closer. Every play counts from here.

    NFL have your say

If Seahawks lose this it’s on Riq Woolen. Unbelievable that you’d behave like that instead of getting off the field Then to compound it he loses Nacua (no shame in that though) for the touchdown

    Leighton James, South Wales

Wooden must be feeling really sick..... that penalty could be a turning point in this very tight game.

    Neil 1313, Rugby

Woolen doing *that* in a conference final... I'd be inclined to never play him again if I were coach. Sheer stupidity.

Sean McVay had his head in his play sheet after that fourth down - and now with just under five minutes left he's begging his defence to make a stop.

His defence can't stop Kenneth Walker though, even though they should as he turns a certain loss into a big 16-yard gain to get Seattle out of trouble.

Whatever the result of the Super Bowl it’ll take some game to top this one!

    Ndamukong Suh

It's fourth and four. You are one thousand percent passing the ball. Take three and live to fight another day.

I do not understand that decision.

  12. Incomplete!published at 02:29 GMT 26 January

Los Angeles Rams 27-31 Seattle Seahawks - fourth quarter

Devon Witherspoon breaks up the pass intended for Colby Parkinson at the back of the end zone as Seattle weather the storm and come away without conceding a point.

It would've been a chip shot field goal to make it a one-point game, would you have kicked it?

I think I might have at this stage of the game, as it'd really ramp up the pressure on Seattle to see it out then knowing a Rams field goal could win it. That could be the turning point.

  13. Fourth downpublished at 02:26 GMT 26 January

Los Angeles Rams 27-31 Seattle Seahawks - fourth quarter

Matthew Stafford has ages to try and find a throw, he thinks about a run at one point too, but then his shot into the end zone goes incomplete.

The Rams are going for it on fourth down.

Third down coming up - they can get a first at the two-yard line if they don't find the end zone.

I'm thinking four down territory here though.

  15. Postpublished at 02:25 GMT 26 January

Matthew Stafford now thinks he's a dual threat as he looks to take off again, but of course he's not running it as he shovels it out ot Puka Nacua, and this guy can run.

LA down to the Seattle 12.

  16. Stafford gets it!published at 02:23 GMT 26 January

Los Angeles Rams 27-31 Seattle Seahawks - fourth quarter

Everything is on the line in the play-offs, even 37-year-old Matthew Stafford running for first downs!

I say running, it was only a yard and at his age Stafford is not able to do more than a jog, but he gets tackled just short of the sticks and shows his heart and desire to battle his way over the marker.

If you're not loving this what's wrong with you!?

  17. Drop!published at 02:21 GMT 26 January

Los Angeles Rams 27-31 Seattle Seahawks - fourth quarter

Oh man! Colby Parkinson drops a pass on a third and one, when he'd have a chance of going all the way to the end zone had he caught it!

The Rams are going for it on fourth down...

Matthew Stafford has time in the pocket to stand and wait for tight end Colby Parkinson to make his way across the formation to deliver a pass for a 16-yard catch and run down to the 35 of Seattle.

Gutsy run from Blake Corum from his own 10 to get to the 20 and move the chains.

Corum then collects a short side-armed throw from Matthew Stafford to move the sticks again

Kyren Williams then gets in on the act with another short pass taken, then a few wiggles and twists and truns and he dances his way to a third first down on the spin.

Cobie Durant with a superb pass break-up, as he comes steaming in to punch the ball from the grasp of Rashid Shaheed and the Rams finally get a stop.

We'd seen touchdowns on the last four drives before that - it's quite a relief in a way!
