Seattle look so good out there. Their offence looks very diverse, everything you want to see in the running game. Everything they're doing is effective. They look to be in great rhythm, they're going to be so hard to stop.

I'm so impressed with their defence, they're relentless.

More yards for Seahawks back Kenneth Walker as Sam Darnold picks out his back in space for a 14-yard gain in mid-field.

With his partner-in-crime Zach Charbonnet currently off the field, Walker having a fine game. Sixty three yards rushing and 29 receiving, plus a touchdown so far.

This was going to be a slightly more upbeat post about Christian McCaffrey being back on the field.

And then Brock Purdy tosses the ball into the arms of Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones for another turnover. Brutal.

It's a tough situation for the 49ers - they're running out of players.

  5. More offensive injuries for San Franciscopublished at 03:22 GMT 18 January

Just seen again what happened with Christian McCaffrey who has taken a knock to his shoulder and was off for the last drive.

Jake Tonges, who has become crucial given star tight end George Kittle tore his Achilles last week, has also disappeared with injury.

Anyone else left for the stricken 49ers?

San Francisco 49ers 6-24 Seattle Seahawks - third quarter

As I write that, San Francisco do get to Sam Darnold with tackle CJ West thundering into the Seahawks quarterback.

That'll push them back eight yards or so.

While the Seahawks are eating up the Niners' run game, Kenneth Walker is having plenty of joy going back the other way.

A seven and an eight-yard run, coupled with Cooper Kupp snagging an 11-yard completion and Seattle are into the red zone.

The Seahawks have total control right now.

When you look at a lot of these games, they'll be times where you'll watch a play and think that play mattered. That opening play set the tone for the entire match and the Seahawks have kept it going the whole way.

Their entire defensive line is just ferocious.

San Francisco 49ers 6-24 Seattle Seahawks - third quarter

Not for long though as, with star running back Christian McCaffrey currently on the sidelines, the 49ers end up going nowhere and being left staring at a fourth and two.

They go for it, but watch out Brock Purdy - here comes Seattle defensive end Leonard Williams to swallow him up and force a turnover inside the San Francisco half.

The Seahawks will take over in good field position.

The 49ers have the ball to start the second half but immediately Brock Purdy is running for his life.

Facing third and nine, he wriggles free of pressure and manages to whip out a dime to Jauan Jennings for a 19-yard completion.

    The drive continues.

ICYMI, Josh Allen's wait for a Super Bowl appearance goes on as Denver claimed an overtime win over Buffalo earlier.

The NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player gave up five turnovers as the Bills again fell short of the big game and the 29-year-old quarterback was in tears as he spoke to media afterwards.

"It's extremely difficult," said Allen. "I feel like I let my team-mates down tonight."

Asked why he was so emotional, he added: "Just missed opportunities throughout the game. It's been a long season, I hate how it ended, and it's going to stick with me for a long time."

Line graph of the score changes

While the yardage for both teams has been very similar, the Seahawks have been extremely clinical so far.

They have kept their bitter rivals at arms' length - and it will take some turnaround for the 49ers to come back against the NFL's stingiest defence.

The Beast Quake often gets mentioned when people talk about Seattle in the play-offs and/or their raucous fans, known as 'the 12s'.

And watching that stunning kick-off return by the Seahawks, it was hard not to think about Marshawn Lynch's famous touchdown during the play-offs in 2011.

Lynch, who was nicknamed 'Beast Mode', powered through the New Orleans Saints defence to run in a sensational 67-yard touchdown, and as he made his way into the end zone, the home fans' celebrations registered at magnitude 2.0 on a nearby seismometer.

Rashid Shaheed may well have just joined Lynch in Seattle folklore, and it'll be interesting to see if those celebrations moved the needle.

San Francisco 49ers 6-24 Seattle Seahawks - second quarter

Brock Purdy goes for the Hail Mary on the last play of the half and you know what Jake Tonges had his hands on it at one point in a congested end zone - but the Niners catching that would have gone against everything else that happened in that half.

From the very first kick of the game it was all Seattle - Rashid Shaheed's kick-off return touchdown, a fourth-down stop, fumble recovery, dominant defence and run game - it was almost the perfect half for the Seahawks.

It's a huge lead they hold at half-time, but San Francisco have defied the odds all season, can they do it one more time?

There it is! No surprise to see Kenneth Walker's number called and even less surprising to see him surge out to the left, break a tackle and stroll into the end zone.

That's a big time drive of 80 yards by Seattle, but the Niners will be kicking themselves as they had them cornered a couple of times but just could not get the stop.

  18. Closing inpublished at 02:44 GMT 18 January

A clutch third-down conversion followed by a Kenneth Walker run sets Seattle up at the 10 with just 34 seconds left on the clock.

San Francisco 49ers 6-17 Seattle Seahawks - second quarter

Rashid Shaheed again breaks off a huge play as he dances down the sideline slipping tackles and finding gaps to go on a 30-yard run to flip the field and move Seattle all the way down to the San Fran 36.

That sets the hosts up beautifully for some points before half-time.

  20. Postpublished at 02:35 GMT 18 January

San Francisco 49ers 6-17 Seattle Seahawks - second quarter

Just as San Francisco thought they'd forced a punt, there's a holding call against them to gift Seattle a first down.

The first concern of the game for the Seahawks is Zach Charbonnet is down on the field after taking a big hit at the end of a run.
